  Do not recommend this resort

  We just returned from Royalton Splash Punta Cana (Feb 3–10). I was hesitant about booking because I read many negative reviews. There were also some positive ones that gave me hope, so I went in with an open mind and realistic expectations. At check-in, our room wasn’t ready at the scheduled time. However, it was ready in under an hour, which we didn’t find to be a big deal. We went to the buffet while we waited, and unfortunately, that first impression set the tone for the food experience. The selection was disappointing, much of the food was not warm, and the options were nearly identical at every meal. It often seemed like food from one service was put away and then brought back out for the next. The rooms are in need of upgrades, but honestly, that was the least of our concerns. We also felt like we constantly had to beg for bottled water. The resort did not provide enough in the room to last for drinking and brushing teeth, which was frustrating and inconvenient. The highlight of the trip was the waterpark. Our kids absolutely loved it, and it was by far the best part of the resort for families. Unfortunately, we observed several concerning hygiene practices throughout the resort. On multiple occasions at different food stations, we saw employees use the same utensils for raw meat and then use those utensils to handle cooked meat being served to guests. At the buffet, an employee flipped over my son’s used water glass to reuse it for the next guests. We also witnessed staff leaving the washroom without washing their hands. At the omelette bar, the cook used the same spoon to break up raw eggs and then placed that spoon into the topping containers. This was concerning, as it did not appear the topping bowls were emptied or replaced regularly, raising questions about cross-contamination. The à la carte restaurants were also disappointing. The food lacked flavor, and again, temperatures were never warm enough. Booking reservations through the app was frustrating, as it never worked. Room service was also very poor — the food quality was terrible and not something we could enjoy. One bright spot was the concierge in our building, Luis, who was fantastic. He added me on WhatsApp, and I could message him anytime for assistance. He truly did his best to help with anything we needed and was one of the few standout positives. The Royalton app includes a messaging system that claims responses within five minutes. This was not our experience. In one case, we received a response two days later — unfortunately, during a time when our family was very ill with vomiting and diarrhea and needed assistance. The day after I was so sick, all I wanted were crackers and a banana, and shockingly, the entire resort did not have a single banana available. We took every precaution to avoid getting sick — our kids took Dukoral, and we were diligent about handwashing and using sanitizer — yet we still became ill. Other guests were asking us if we had been sick yet, and it was common to overhear conversations about who was sick in different groups, which was very concerning. Overall, the waterpark and Luis’s excellent service were positives, but the food quality, hygiene concerns, lack of basic accommodations when ill, insufficient water supply, and unreliable service made this a very disappointing experience for our family. I would not recommend this resort to anyone.

  Nice resort but lots of music

  We stayed for a week in January 2026 at the Royalton Hideaway and overall enjoyed our stay. The resort is well maintained, beautiful, clean and the staff was great. The Hideaway is very close to the beach and you can walk for hours on the beach. However, I have to mention that there is music across the resort that can be loud in some areas and even at the beach the music is quite present which can be annoying. Also, there is lots a venue for eating but the food quality and taste is very ordinary.

  Great hotel in Punta Cana

  We stayed in the Diamond Club with my son, daughter-in-law and 2 young grandchildren. The hotel was great. Our butler Antonio exceptional. The boys enjoyed the waterpark tremendously. There was a nice selection of a'la carte restaurants. We got lucky with the weather - sun all week (and avoided bad snowstorm back home :) ).
