  Nice trip

  Overall our trip was a really good one, location was approx 30 minutes from the airport. My disappointment came with the sand bag beach, nothing at all like the pictures of the beach. You have to crawl down over large sandbags to get to the water. Mostly happy with the service, we did have a butler who made our dinner reservations every evening which was nice. We had excellent experience with the food and drinks, no issues there. Housekeeping came every day and cleaned but I was disappointed that as a Diamond Club with a suite, for some reason they didn't replace the washcloths for showering and it was a constant issue to get clean ones, towels were always replaced but not washcloths. I gave up and had to reuse, yuck! I also had the mirror come out of the wall by the sink, a maintenance ticket was odne but no one ever showed up to fix it. Noise level was never an issue. So again overall experience was good, but for the upgrade to Diamond and the housekeeping issues not sure the value was there. First time to Punta Cana, I would probably try another resort if I returned so I had something to compare. Maybe my expectation were too high.

  Awful experience

  Unfortunately, the experience staying here was not good. Check-in went fine after a bit of chaos. Once we were able to get our room, we realized it was full of mold. The mold was freshly painted over and got darker as the days went on. We knew all of the rooms were covered in mold due to hurricane damage that was not properly treated/cleaned/renovated so there was no point in transferring to another room. We felt most of our stay was taken up by attempting to get our basic needs met. Water is a rare commodity. We eventually found an unlocked storage room where we could obtain bottles of warm water. The food was awful at every single restaurant we went to on site. Room service was non-existent. The casino was also moldy and smelled of mustiness due to the carpets being wet and not properly cleaned after hurricane damage. Most of the employees were rude and hated when you would ask for something. I would never recommend this place or stay here again. It really ruined our vacation.

  Great Staff

  We’ve just returned home from an enjoyable stay at the Royalton Punta Cana and I’d just like to say how good the staff are here. Janerry, juana, Gerona and Vincent in the Buffet restaurant were absolutely amazing and treated us so well. Wanda in the Diamond Club lounge always greeted us with a friendly smile and served us all with some great drinks. The Vibe team led by Bernard and JP do a fantastic job and we all enjoyed the pool side games and activities. The food here is very good, especially in the buffet restaurant and the Steakhouse. Drinks are also pretty good apart from the beer, Presidente served here was flat and sour and to only offer DC members an alternative of Canita, which tastes of absolutely nothing is really poor. Other hotels we’ve been to offer Heineken and Coors , which is a good alternative. We found the rooms to be clean, spacious and comfortable with clean towels provided daily. The pools are getting a bit tired, with odd tiles missing here and there. One massive bonus was the water park and we all had some fabulous days there. Evening entertainment is ok some of the shows better than others. The theatre is in real need of refurbishment, with lots of broken chairs and please do not try and cut through the gaps I caught my shin on a rusty bracket and gashed my shin. I’d like to finish by thanking our butlerJairon for looking after us and Miguel who stood in when Jairon was called away on a family emergency. Thank you guys. All in all a good family holiday, but I’m not sure I’d return.

  Fantastic holiday and wonderful staff, but not a five-star hotel

  We had an amazing two-week family holiday and there is so much to like about this resort, not least the beautiful beachside location. Having the two resort areas together gives you loads of choice, particularly for families, and the staff were without question the biggest highlight. The Vibe team were brilliant, energetic and engaging all day and adapted brilliantly when bad weather moved activities indoors. Special mentions to Ruth in the buffet, who was wonderful with our eight-year-old, Jean-Carlos and the Guest Services team, who went above and beyond to help us, and Ivelise, who was lovely from check-in onwards. However, we struggled to understand the five-star rating. The facilities are there, but the resort itself needs significant investment and TLC. Our first room had an overwhelming smell of paint, and we discovered wet paint around the bathroom alongside mould and poor grouting. We were thankfully moved, but then had to chase several times for bedding for our son's sofa bed after a nine-hour flight. Eventually my partner had to walk to front desk and beg for help! Similar maintenance issues were visible around the resort: missing pool tiles in every pool, exposed fittings while repairs were taking place, tired bathrooms, stained/bleached towels and some bed linen that really needed replacing. On several days the pool bars also ran out of reusable cups, meaning cocktails were served in paper cups! Not a poolside table in sight... drinks on the floor! None of these things ruined our holiday, but collectively they simply don't say five star. Our son enjoyed the kids' club, particularly the PS5, Xbox and trampoline, although it didn't match what we'd seen advertised, was not up to the usual Tui standard and the activity programme wasn't particularly well communicated. The buffet, however, was excellent. There was loads of variety, themed food each evening, fresh pasta and pizza, and genuinely something for everyone. We actually preferred it to most of the à la carte restaurants. The invited TUI beach BBQ was also lovely, with great food and a fantastic setting. We had an unnecessarily difficult time booking the steakhouse, including turning up for a confirmed reservation only to find it closed. It took several attempts before we eventually ate there. Everyone tried their best to help, though, so this felt more like a communication/system issue than poor service. Ultimately, the people are working at a five-star level, but the physical resort currently isn't. We had a brilliant holiday and would happily recommend it with the right expectations. With investment in the rooms, bathrooms, pools, linen and general maintenance, this could be a fantastic resort. Would we say we had an amazing holiday? Absolutely. Would we currently describe the hotel itself as five star? Unfortunately not.

  Awful first night here

  Arrived yesterday ask ground room as person with is disabled never got it also 4 hours for my cases and room as not cleanest or best very dispontted kelvin our butler introduced him self was lovely but only our first night hoping get this sorted no one seem understand me terrible
