A relaxing vacation
The Royalton Punta Cana is a very nice location. If you go, recommend that you upgrade to the Diamond Club so you have access to the Diamond beach (otherwise, there is not a lot of beach space). Definitely ask for Romeo Pascual for your butler. He is so friendly and addresses every request you might have. He made our dinner reservations and let us know about the day's activities. A real asset to the experience!

Ten Days of Rest and Relaxation
We were at the Royalton Punta Cana for the first 10 days of December. We had a fantastic time. We were Diamond Club members and it was definitely worth the extra. The check in DC lounge was easy, they took care of everything while we sat at a table sipping Baileys. Our butler, Cesar, was terrific. He was always just a WhatsApp message away. He booked all of our restaurant reservations, gave us all the info about the resort, offered to hook us up for any excursions we wanted to take. He always had a smile and a friendly word every time we saw him around the resort. He would even answer a question on WhatsApp if he was at home. When we were only getting two bottles of water in the mini fridge we asked him if we could get more, that evening we had six and this continued for the rest of our stay. We highly recommend Cesar if you are going with the DC. The room was very clean, the AC worked all the time, housekeeping was excellent, fresh towels when we left them on the floor. We had a small issue which we reported when we went to dinner and it was fixed by the time we got back to our room that night. The beach is beautiful. You can walk for miles. No seaweed issues while we were there. Never had an issue getting a chair which were very comfortable. They had a cushion on top which was nice. Not like at other resorts that have those blue chairs that you can never stay comfortable in for more than a few minutes. Other reviews mention the sandbags on the beach. I thought they would be like the ones you pile up when trying to stop a flood. These are long large tubes of sand that are mostly buried in the beach and are used to stop erosion. Be nice if they were not needed, but it's better to have them than not to have the beach. We have seen many reviews saying the food was not very good. We found it to be pretty good overall. Was it a Michelin star, no. But it was very good for an all inclusive resort. There is always something you can find to complain about but we were pleasantly surprised. The buffet and all the restaurant food was good or excellent. Service was always excellent and with a smile. We read a number of reviews that said the staff was rude but we did not run into one case of a staff member being rude to us. Maybe it's a matter of you get back some of what you project. Overall we really enjoyed our 10 days and would definitely go back. If we do, we will go with the DC and request Cesar as our butler.

Royalton Punta Cana Prime Travelers Club Review: Guests Insulted After Declining Purchase
During our 6-night stay at Royalton Punta Cana resort, we were invited to attend a Prime Travelers Club membership presentation. After politely declining the offer of purchase, we experienced unprofessional and insulting behavior from the sales staff, and the sales team. I reported to the hotel management immediately. Surprisingly, the hotel-level management showed no intention to correct the insulting behavior. After returning home, I researched publicly available reviews and travel forums, including Reddit and TripAdvisor threads, and found numerous similar accounts. Many guests reported being spoken to rudely or demeaned after declining the membership, and some noted that promised incentives, such as spa services, beach items, or other gifts, were not delivered when they chose not to purchase the membership. This was the ugly truth hidden in a scenery hotel. Our good and bad experiences are highlighted below for your reference. The best—Dorado Seafood & Grill was the best we experienced during our stay. Its supervisor, Henry, and his team were amazing. Their dinner menu was excellent, and lunch menu was fair. Their breakfasts were designed for traditional western breakfast lovers. The restaurant is right at the beach with beautiful ocean view (a photo attached). Note that only the guests at Hideaway had the access to this restaurant. Good—the resort looks like a well-designed garden with trails leading to the beach. There was evening and pool-side entertainment. Food at the buffet restaurant where everyone has a free access was fair. Not-so-good—although everyone was allowed to reserve “free” dinners at à la carte restaurants using their app, it was virtually impossible to book popular ones such as Hunter Steak House, Grazie, and Jade: you are either too early or too late to book; they do not let you book beyond 2 days. I guess seats were reserved by the managers and butlers—you pay butler service then get those meals. We only succeeded booking at Zen Teppanyaki, which offered dinners at food court quality, and bad service too—they totally forgot soups and drinks we ordered. Please also note that you won’t get anything as a Bonvoy elite member, although Autograph Collection is supposed to offer free upgrades to unsold suite etc. In fact, Royalton Chic Cancun offered some Diamond Club privileges to Bonvoy eligible members. The ugly—there were quite some complaints about the membership sales. For example, one Reddit post described a guest being promised a free massage and a beach bag with a hat and towel for attending the presentation. After declining the membership, the promised gifts were refused. Another TripAdvisor thread mentioned guests expecting spa services as part of the presentation incentives, which were not honored because the membership was declined. While some guests did receive gifts, the inconsistent delivery of promised incentives and the reported unprofessional conduct suggest a pattern that future visitors should be aware of. In our case, we experienced multiple insults, briefing below. I have the names of the saleswoman and her supervisor, but use V and E here to protect their privacy: V obviously knew we are frequent travelers. Most likely she checked our registration. She approached us at Hideaway and promised 80 minutes massage & spa for two if we attend the presentation, which actually took us ~2.5 hours instead of 90 minutes. At the end, the manager gave us an offer. I immediately realized that I would lose $2000030000 in the next ten years (payment plus investment income) if I accepted his offer unless I completely change my travel habits and lifestyle. Insults then followed: I smelled fish when I received $100 massage voucher at the sales office instead of promised $200+. The lady at the sales office said it would be 60 minute including spa in contrast to 80 minutes offered by V. I went back to V who said it would be 40-minute massage plus spa time… Later, I found my confirmed Steak House reservation was cancelled (screen shots attached). I further suspected scams with the massage booking: it turned out there was only 25-minute massage. We refused to go unless they made it 40 minutes as promised. V’s supervisor said I do not have proof that 40 minutes were offered … The assistant manager at Hideaway, Luis, tried to discuss this with the sales office. I heard yelling from the other end of the phone. I had to meet Luis a couple of times on this issue. Eventually, he said the hotel management would offer me two options: booking another massage or an upgrade for a future stay. We rejected both: we were not in the mood for massage anymore after all these, and we are reluctant to take insults for their business promotion—the offers showed no sincere apologies. Message to the hotel decision makers: The membership presentation process and staff behavior toward non-purchasing guests significantly compromised our stay (and others) and will certainly affect guests’ future vacation decision. I hope the Royalton property management will address this issue for the benefit of your own business and future guests. A complaint will be filed to Autograph Collection and Marriott Customer service, and potentially to the high-level management. In the meantime, you may contact Luis, the assistant manager at Hideaway, for more information. Tips to TripAdvisor readers: Do not expect à la carte meals if you do not purchase butler service. Ask the salesperson to write down their offers and conditions (what if you do not purchase) before you attend a membership sale presentation. Research reviews if you are interested in their Prime Travelers Club membership. Management’s response will be updated with another TripAdvisor review.

Family getaway
We had a fantastic experience at Royalton Punta Cana. We booked the diamond club rooms that came with a butler, a private swim out pool and ocean view. Our butler, Mr. Narciso was great and provided us with exceptional services including reservations to restaurants and late check out. The property is clean and has great amenities. Food was okay considering it’s an all inclusive resort but could be better. But we definitely will be back again.

Darianna was amazing at the Mexican restaurant with quick and friendly service with a smile!
Lenny was an efficient and attended to our needs! We arrived to the wrong room and he quickly changed it and made the transition smooth! We highly recommend him as a butler and we will be requesting him again on our trip back to the DR in the future!
