  Enjoyable stay

  Lovely hotel, well maintained and rooms are modern and the housekeeper does an amazing job. Buffet has lots to offer even for the most fussy of eaters, lots of fresh seafood cooked as you wait. Thanks Paula who was our hostess several nights, she has such a lovely positive vibe. Pool is cold but once you are in it is fine. We stayed in Building 4 room 4207 which looked onto Hunter restaurant. The pool bar staff Yenndy and Hugo are brilliant and a shout out to Antony who kept our drinks topped up regularly at the poolside - Thanks guys! Why not 5 stars - check in was reasonable but no one directed us to our room, no map or directions so had to find our own way, got to room and key fob did not work, so back to reception and told bellboy would let us in and come back later to get fobs loaded, so not a good first impression, suitcases arrived in room, but they were not ours, so another wait for correct cases. Royalton says it is ‘All in Luxury’ trying to get booked into the restaurants is hopeless unless you buy upgrades like wine or specific steaks or lobster, I f el really let down on this as my previous experience at another Royalton did not have any issues booking. Royalton need to sort this out for guests as it was disappointing, we only managed to get into Hunter which cost us $130. Overall we enjoyed our stay the staff are the true assets.

  A good family destination

  A great family hotel. The staff are very helpful and friendly, particularly at the Italian restaurants.

  Beautiful, clean, great entertainment were the highlights of this resort.

  We stayed at the Royalton Punta Cana for our wedding. The resort is only 25 minutes away from the Punta Cana airport which was nice. We had a private shuttle to and from the airport which was great. We were there as a group size of 21. The resort was beautiful, clean and small which made it easy to get around. The room was clean and well maintained as well as the other restrooms around the resort. We stayed in a swim out room which was nice to have when our little ones were napping. The pool was cleaned daily. The room included all required amenities except for face cloths. The staff was very accommodating. We booked diamond club and had a great experience with our butler Jairon. The butler service allowed us to book group reservations at all of our requested a la cartes. He checked in with us daily and made sure we had everything we needed which was a great service. We did find the food at the buffet to be better than the a la cartes. The buffet had lots of selection. The drinks were delicious! Towards the end of the week, we did have a few individuals in our group have some GI issues but may have just been from the different food/cooking style in general. The entertainment at this resort is next level. So much to do for the kids and many themed days. They had a huge Super Bowl party, circus/ carnival themed day, white party, foam pool party, pool blow ups, etc. Because of the entertainment, the resort does tend to be loud/ noisy at times. May not be what you are looking for if you like a quiet atmosphere. The beach does have sand bags on it as the resort was built close to the water and the water can be rough. It didn’t bother us and you can walk a short distance to get away from them. We did go over to the splash side to use the water park a few times. The kids loved it. It wasn’t super busy so you could get on the slides quickly without waiting in lines. Definitely nice to be able to use both resorts although we did spend majority of our time at the Punta Cana side. The wedding was very well organized. The decor was exactly as we wanted, our group dinner was great and the wedding cake was beautiful and delicious. We are also very pleased with the photography from photoshop caribe. Yarimar and the photographer Juan were both great to deal with. Overall, our group had a great vacation. Other than the few GI issues which put a damper on the vacation for a few, it was a good trip and I would visit this resort again.

  Disappointed, not worth the money.

  It's a 2.5 to 3.0-star resort on a good day - they claim 5 stars to charge more. I never write bad reviews, but this time, I had to. First, and important to recognize, staff all around was very courteous. This said, the resort is dated and it shows. We booked the most expensive room on the Hideaway side (adult). We left 1,000 pesos (CAD ~$22) on the bed daily and the room was nicely made. The shower head was all rusty and the glass full of scum. The wall next to the toilet was still covered by what we thought was remnants of projectile vomit. The site said we would get a complimentary beach bag and in room bathrobes - we had neither in the room when we arrived. We had to ask for it - we finally got the bag on day 6 (of 7), no bathrobes. We booked the Hideaway part of the resort which is the adult only side. This is a mixed resort with no real separation, so be ready for loud music early. The pool area on the Hideaway side is too small - not enough chairs - by 7:30am it was no vacancy... The beach is almost fully eroded at the resort and large bags have been installed to try to save what's left. This translates to less chairs on the beach and a very cramped area, and the surf is very rough due to the severe undertow. The food was bad, very bad - we had better food in Cuba at a 3-star resort. Everything seems over-cooked and served cold - an over-cooked cold steak at their signature Hunter Grill steakhouse... At lunch at the Dorado restaurant, my wife ordered a pulled pork sandwich in what was supposed to be a "home made" panini bun... well, we had to laugh, what was served seem to be a chopped-up hotdog doused in BBQ and ketchup sauce with a slab of white cheese on a hotdog bun. The guy at the table next to ours had the same reaction - yucky! Photo of the pull pork sandwich below. We spent almost $10,000 for the week there (incl. tips). In the end, the true test is: would you go back - was it just us? Everybody we asked (15+ couples) if they would come back, everybody without exception said a resounding NO. Not worth the money.

  Honeymooners!

  Romeo was a great butler! he brought us a bottle of vodka, made sure all was well with us, gave us his whatsapp to communicate, and check in on us every day to make sure we had all we need. he was there to answer any restaurant or resort questions we had and was very friendly! We recommend Diamond Club (and Hideaway swim out suite) for any newlyweds on their honeymoon!
