Diamond Club
As newlyweds, we got upgraded to the diamond club and it was a great experience. Wanda our do-it-all diamond club host was spectacular. She accommodated us with everything we needed and kept us comfortable at the same time. Highly recommend.

Think twice, not worth it for the upgraded experience
So far, just checked in. The manager is rude, especially as we are Marriott Platinum. Seems on power trip, only gave us access to our room at 15h40. One of the beds had horribly stained sheets. This is supposed to be the higher end of the Royalton Splash sister resort.

Choose A Different Resort!!!
I rarely write reviews, but I felt it was necessary after my recent stay at Royalton Punta Cana. Unfortunately, the experience was far below expectations for a resort of this level. At check-in, we were met by Luis Manuel at the front desk, whose dismissive attitude set the tone for the trip. The guests ahead of us were offered a Diamond Club upgrade, but when it came to our turn, the option was never even mentioned. It felt like we weren’t given the same opportunities as others, which left a terrible first impression. While a few staff members (Ramon, Robinson, Omar, and Victor) provided great service, most interactions were poor. Namely, Erasmo at the upstairs lobby bar, was extremely rude. When we asked him for drinks, he wouldn’t even acknowledge us; no eye contact, no response, not even a sound to show he’d heard us. Jhonny at the Sands Beach Bar was even worse. His drinks were poorly made, and when we politely asked him to remake them, he started talking about us in Spanish to other guests right in front of us. Housekeeping was another letdown, and when we raised issues, Victoria, the housekeeping manager, was dismissive and unhelpful. The food was one of the biggest disappointments. The food at Grazie Trattoria was truly awful, it was basically inedible. The food at Zen Teppanyaki tasted good at first, but later that night every single one of us ended up sick and throwing up. The buffet was consistently terrible. The only things we could stomach were the cheese pizza and cheeseburgers, which essentially became our entire diet for the week. No matter what we ate, we experienced diarrhea the entire trip. We completely avoided breakfast at the buffet and instead went to the Scoops Gelato café every morning. The iced caramel macchiatos, sandwiches, and pastries there were consistently good, which was one of the only reliable food experiences we had. We also had to wait hours for our luggage to arrive in our room on the first day, and later in the trip we discovered money and a necklace missing from our room. That alone is enough reason never to return. Overall, while a few staff members did their best and are greatly appreciated for their consistent service, the negatives far outweighed the positives. Poor service, rude interactions, weak food options, and serious security concerns make it impossible for me to recommend this resort to anyone.

A Disappointing Return: Royalton Punta Cana's Staff Shines Amidst Decline
My wife and I first visited Royalton Punta Cana Resort in 2023 and left with a genuinely positive impression. Based on that experience, we decided to return again this year in August. While we were ultimately disappointed by our stay, we did want to highlight some exceptional aspects. Our room was clean enough, with no questions asked. The staff were also very friendly. We stayed in Building 3, which had a front desk and a bar, and we want to give a special thank you to Joel at the front desk who wonderfully arranged a room decoration for my wife's birthday. Additionally, bartenders Jennifer and Valeria have very good personalities and were always accommodating to us. Unfortunately, what we found was a significant and disheartening downgrade. The decorative pool by the main lobby was dirty all the time, which was quite unappealing. The food quality went down dramatically. The buffet, which was once a highlight, now consistently had long lines, and the selection was frankly quite poor. Beyond the buffet, making reservations for the à la carte restaurants became an absolute quest. The phone app, which is required for reservations, repeatedly gave us either "not available" or late times like "9:45 PM." Since we can't eat dinner at 11 PM, I had to go to the front desk in the main lobby to ask them to manually switch our reservation times. As for the quality of the food at these restaurants, it was just average. The food at both Zen and Trattoria was so over salted that I could not eat it. One more frustrating point was the fact that the showers next to the beach did not work during our entire stay. One of the biggest disappointments was a party boat excursion we bought tickets for. We had a very good impression of this in the past, and while I understand it's a third-party business, the tickets are sold on the resort property. The boat did not have many people at the beginning, but later we got on 5-6 more loads of guests, making the boat extremely crowded. Loud hip-hop music played for a few hours, there was no space to dance, and the crowd was a bunch of drunk, boisterous people. I saw a few families with kids and truly believe they should not have been there. Later, I had a conversation with a man from the boat who was also very upset. Unfortunately, due to the combination of these issues, from the decline in food and amenities to the quality of the excursion, we are not going to come back.

Disappointing Stay – Misrepresentation of Diamond Club & Poor Service (Case #717666589)
I booked a stay at Royalton Punta Cana, an Autograph Collection Resort (Marriott) expecting the luxury and service standards promised by Marriott’s Autograph Collection. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. • The assigned butler introduced himself once and was never available afterward. • Food and beverage quality were far below Marriott standards, with limited variety and poor execution. • Staff interactions often lacked courtesy and professionalism. • Diamond Club benefits advertised (premium spirits, in-room bottle service) were either unavailable or never delivered. • Room service was inconsistent, despite being marked as “completed” in their records. When I escalated these issues, the resort’s representative acknowledged the failures but refused a refund. Instead, I was repeatedly offered Bonvoy points in small increments (10,000 at a time). This response was dismissive, demeaning, and unacceptable given the scope of service failures. I have since escalated this case (#717666589) to Marriott Corporate, the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism, and ProConsumidor. I am also making this public to warn future travelers: do not expect the level of service advertised or the accountability that Marriott promises. Until Marriott and Royalton address these issues, I cannot recommend this property.
