Beautiful Trip!
Some of these reviews had me feeling like I was at a completely different resort or expectations are just unrealistic because we had a beautiful trip and would absolutely go back. We stayed in the Hideaway section and Junior was our most wonderful butler! Juan and Rudy were such fun pool bartenders! Baron, Carolina, and the whole Dorado team were fantastic. Jennifer at the Hideaway lounge was wonderful, too :) Our room was cleaned when we needed it to be, we could always get towels, and there are A TON of chairs around every pool and beach, which was nice because sometimes people get up 4am at other resorts to put random items on chairs they want to save. The 1 star I took off was for the check-in process. It seems the staff needs more help. We were early and our ro wasn't ready yet - not a problem, we went and had lunch. When we came back at our instructed time, we waited in a long line just to see if our room was ready. It was a bummer to wait in line for 30 minutes to ask a simple question. Yes, this is a Marriott property, however, Marriott doesn't really get involved unless you book directly with them. Otherwise, no points or fanfare. I see a lot of people being shocked at Marriott...they don't care but the Royalton staff definitely does :)

Nice place, good service, nonexistent management.
Oof. Great property, friendly staff. Pray to every God you know of because management is nonexistent. Check-in took us an hour and a half. Don’t bother doing the online check-in. Their systems don’t communicate with each other. Despite going to great lengths to try to make arrangements for one of our family members who had broken his leg the week before, the hotel still put us on the third floor of a building without an elevator. The one interaction with a manager ended with him saying that we definitely deserved compensation, but that he would have to get back to us. That was six days before we left and when we were checking out, there was still no management to be found. They held hostage and wouldn’t let us leave without finalizing our bill and suggested that we emailed them even though none of our emails had ever been responded to. Pray to everything holy that you don’t need help with anything. Or lower your expectations to the floor and you will have a great time.

Don't book this Property - You will be disappointed!
Let me start by saying that several staff members made my stay unforgettable. Before I address the other concerns about why I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Antonio, our Butler, did an OUTSTANDING job in making sure everything we needed was taken care of and made our trip memorable. He deserves a raise because he went above and beyond, booked reservations for us to eat at restaurants, made sure we were aware of the activities happening throughout the day, and always took time to meet us during the day or evening to check in. I arrived at the hotel very sick, and he immediately went into action, and Antonio worked with Jean Carlos at Guest Services to make sure I was taken to the clinic on property. Antonio also decorated our kids' room for their birthdays and arranged cakes for their celebrations. When I called the hotel a few weeks before arriving to arrange this, the reservations team that answered the phone was very rude and unhelpful. They told me that all they could do was add notes to the reservation, and that was all. When I mentioned this to Antonio on the day of my arrival, he was immediately apologetic and told me not to worry that he would take care of it, and HE DID! I traveled with 9 additional people, and we had 3 rooms, none of which were ready upon arrival. I do appreciate the courtesy shower at the resort that I was able to use. Our housekeeper, Annery, was very nice and kept our room looking spectacular throughout our stay, especially since we were sick. It helped that she always had our room stocked with extra towels and toilet paper. Another great employee is Juan, aka Mr. Wow, the Pilates and Yoga instructor. I attended one of his classes, and he was very professional, made sure everyone felt included, and gave an AMAZING Pilates class. Robinson, the pool/bar employee, was also memorable for his smile and willingness to serve us drinks and take care of any food orders we wanted while at the pool and beach area. He never complained, even when our kids had several requests. The rest of the staff I encountered throughout my stay were very rude and bothered by my asking for a simple cup of water or a towel. We also encountered several employees who would only assist if you tipped them, which, to me, was very unprofessional and took me aback. You shouldn't have to tip your entire stay to get a chair at the pool or beach, a towel, or a cup of water. It seems like it was an inconvenience for them to do their job. This is a Marriott property. I have stayed at several Marriott properties in the past, and this was my first time visiting Punta Cana and staying at this resort. I was very disappointed and will not be returning. I wouldn't recommend anyone stay here until the staff issues are corrected, and it seems like there is a lack of training among the other staff members we dealt with during our stay. You can't include the staff mentioned above because they know how to treat customers and provide the best service, and they didn't allow us to lift a finger. I also didn't see any managers on the property, which to me was alarming. If I were one of the managers working at this resort, I would want to see for myself how the customers are being treated during their stay. I also want to mention that our kids did a water activity with a vendor on the property, and it took over 10 minutes to negotiate a price as they were trying to rip me off for a 15-minute banana boat ride, which, in my opinion, was overpriced. I also want to mention that 7 out of the 10 people who attended this trip got food poisoning from the restaurants on the hotel property. So not only did we get bad service from the vast majority of the staff, but we also got sick during our stay from the food served at the restaurants.

Honest review from stay in December (uk)
We stayed here in December. Positives The resort is beautiful and the beach is stunning. We was in block 4 which had been newly renovated. Pools are lovely and entertainment during the day was ok. Negatives Staff need to be more polite, we found many of them rude and disrespectful. There are restaurants on site but it’s really hard to get a reservation unless you want to eat at 10pm. Our room Had a fridge which wasn’t topped up everyday, we had to call reception about it many times. Food buffet is ok but we found a lot of it luke warm, it was also very busy when we went so you had to Que to get in. On the last 2 days I got sickness which really spoilt my stay, I think it was from the buffet. My husband also got sick half way through our stay. We stayed at this hotel back in 2024 and loved it but the standard has gone down massively. We wouldn’t stay here again
