Good beach bad food. Not great experience.

Food was not good. If your not diamond club you will not get in the restaurants. We were diamond club which was ok but they will try and sell you their prime program. I think that’s what it’s called. Beach was good. Pool good but no food there. Entertainment was very lacking. Again food was bad. Went to bed hungry every night. Very disappointed.

Second time at Royalton Punta Cana not sure if I want to go back

We returned to Royalton Punta Cana in December for my 50th birthday as group of 10. We originally booked oceanview rooms at Royalton Hideaway at Blue Waters in Jamaica (as returning guests as well) but it got closed due to Hurricane Melissa so we decided to go back to Royalton Punta Cana where we visited in summer of 2019 (I wrote a review at that time with 5 stars - group of 8) . Because the change of hotels happened about 2 weeks before arrival Hideaway rooms were not available only Royalton Punta Cana regular rooms for which we had to pay extra. We had no problem with it as we stayed before in this hotel and we liked it. I emailed Royalton for 5 rooms on higher floors and asked to order a cake and restaurant for my birthday that was on Day 2 of vacation. I got email back that nothing can be done until we arrive. When we arrived 4 rooms were on higher floors as we asked except for mine…Cloudy was trying very hard to sell to us diamond club which we didn’t want (at the time of original booking RPC diamond club was less expensive than Oceanview Hideaway room in Jamaica) and we already paid extra for hotel change. When we didn’t upgrade he gave us beautiful room on main floor looking at utility closet. Next day I tried to book restaurant for 10 people were told we can only do it on app (max 6 people) where for 1/2 of us app did not even work… so 1/2 day of running between costumer service and Sunwing rep I was finally able to book stake house restaurant (that app had it as closed that day) and buy a cake. This should not be that complicated- it never was at any other resort in my 25 years of travel. When questioned how can we book restaurants for 10 we’re told to see another desk downstairs across from tours desk where we were quoted $200 USD for each reservation. Anyway I really liked the way the rooms had been updated since our last visit. Food and drinks were ok. Vibe team fun. We preferred it so much better 2019 visit where you did not need reservations to the restaurants. What was not acceptable was that many people got sick (6 of 10 in our group alone) everyone ate different things so we cannot pin point where was the contamination… we think it could have been the pool bar as we noticed that glasses were not washed just rinsed in water… it could have been one time thing but it could have been regular occurrence. When we were checking out we reported to customers service that 6/10 in our group got sick and many of other guests we spoke too were also sick… so it surprised me when I was told they are not aware of guests getting sick. We made the best of vacation and had lots of fun, but I will not book it again if I see the reports of people being sick. All in our group has been travelling for years and know how to behave as so not to get sick. 6/10 is telling that something is not right.

    Worse trip ever

What a disappointment, this hotel doesn’t deserve the luxury title and the 5 stars rating. The service doesn’t exist, you have to wait between 15-20 minutes before someone ask what you would like to drink or pay attention to you. You complain to the person seating you and they Act they want to help you, but nothing happened. I will give the service at the buffet or any restaurant à la carte 1 on 10, it is very disappointing. Beach Towels, oh yes, if you find a beach towel before 2-3 pm you are very lucky, everyday is the same answer no more. Their towel system distribution doesn’t work. Someone can take 10 and no one ask. NEED TO BE FIX. Entertainment, during the 7 days stay the entertainment is very poor. No beach activities, aerobics everyday only at the pool, at night the entertainment is poor nothing to make you say WOW. 4 on 10. Room service is zero, you ask for something it takes for ever to get it. The front desk is the worst, for 5 starts hotel it is very sad. No one will give you attention or help you if you don’t upgrade to diamond club, and believe me it is not worth it. Keep your money. 3 on 10. The only places the people will serve you with smile are the gelato place , the beach servers and the martini bar. Staff are happy smiling all the time and very helpful, they worth every dollar you tip them. Save your money and don’t tip anyone except them. They really make you happy.

Terrible place go somewhere else !!!

It was one of the most uncaring unhelpful disorganized hotels I have ever been to😡 We were on a family vacation of 15 ppl the service at front desk was so bad it took us forever to check in and they didn’t speak English so it was hard to communicate with them. That wasn’t the worst thing trying to get reservations for the restaurant was a nightmare the only way I could get in was if I bought a $200 US bottle of wine so that tells me you had room for us but not unless I paid the money which was part of our stay. A few of us got sick I don’t know if it was from the food or not but it was unfortunate on top of everything else that went on !! Anyhow I would not recommend this hotel at all just giving my real review 😡

With the Diamond Club - a great experience!

Pros - Great location - near the airport, great beach walks, felt safe. We loved the two resorts behind each other as we went back and forth a lot and could use both pools and restaurants. - Diamond Club was awesome - fast, friendly check in with welcome drinks. Our butler Kelvin was awesome - super attentive the entire week! He was amazing with our son and was so responsive when we asked questions or needed something. He went above and beyond! - We did get into reservation restaurants every night and enjoyed all of them. Food at those was very good. We didn't eat the buffet for dinner - but breakfast and lunch were good. Great service, everyone we talked to was very attentive and friendly. - The beach was very pretty and clean - we loved the thatch roof chairs near the beach. They did have a weird large kind of bunker between the resort and the water, but we figured out it was for the seaweed, which all the other resorts had a TON of. So they were addressing that in this way, which did help a lot! - Pools were fun, always some fun activities and music. The splash water park was an easy walk and our son loved it. It was a great option to be able to do beach, pool, or water park. - Service and friendly staff - notably so. Everyone was overly friendly and nice! Cons - The rooms are clearly in need of some renovation - getting older and in need of replacement and paint. - not very clean when we first arrived and didn't get a ton better. hairs on the ground, things on the sheets, super cloudy/soap scum shower doors, etc. most of the public areas were better - pools were clean (except swim up bar, but that's not their fault - drunken people spilling :) - drinks/ bars were incredibly random. We laughed it off and treated it like a joke after a while but things we ordered were often wrong unless at the restaurants. The drink of the day was different at every bar. - Noise level at night was a bit loud if there was an event by the main terrace as our room was nearby. Earplugs helped a lot! Not Cons, but need to know: - Tips. We have never stayed at an all inclusive that allowed tips. This place was definitely expected. We figured it out quickly and got some cash, but we didn't realize it before we arrived. - We realized that if you are not Diamond Club, you might as well be invisible. We heard people complaining that they never got dinner reservations as DC gets them all. That the bars wait on people with the DC bracelets before anyone else and they all have to wait. That the DC butlers cut the lines and grab food for the DC people, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our privilege, but just so you are aware that you really need to be DC to enjoy it here. Overall - the place worked fine for what we needed it for - warmth and our son's first all inclusive. if we didn't have Diamond Club, I think we would not have been as happy. For people that have done more all inclusive resorts, it wasn't as nice as some we have stayed at, but was good enough for our goals this time.
