Honest Review from Not picky people

Definitely not a 5-star resort. Probably 3.8 at best. Family of 4. We booked Diamond Club. If you don't good luck. Our 2 butlers Lavardo and Tashika made the trip for us. They were incredibly helpful and definitely went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. If we didn't have them to lean on for things we needed (water, restock of mini fridge, restaurant reservations, etc) this trip would have sucked! Except for our two butlers service is extremely hit and miss. Some of the staff are friendly and attentive and some absolutely could care less about their job or you. And they make it apparent. I've never seen such a stark difference at a resort where some cared and some didn't. It was super hit and miss. And we tip well. The resort is outdated and definitely needs maintenance. Lots of small things that we can look past, but for the price it should be pretty nice overall. Oh! They will pitch you for timeshare. The second you walk through the door a very nice lady starts creating a relationship with you aside from checking in. I've never sat through a presentation so was curious what it was all about. They gave us 2 days of a cabana around the pool and 2 / 25 min massages for sitting through it. Of course we didn't buy into it. But it was definitely funny to sit through. It was also funny to see how nice those people were to you during that presentation, but when you didn't buy, they completely ignored you the rest of the time we were there. The little nice greeter we had in the beginning completely ignored us when we saw her around the resort. The 2 days of cabanas were completely worth sitting through it. Why! Because this is one of those resorts where it's a wake up early and play the freaking chair save game. Absolutely ridiculous people do this. And as usual we would see towels on chairs, and no one would ever show. So, after a while if we wanted what they had we just got rid of the towels and took it. Don't care. We didn't really take advantage of the nightly entertainment. It did usually end at 10ish. But there were two weddings that music blasted until about 11 - 12. The RIU is next door. We could see and hear their music from our room. They would party until 1:30 or 2 some nights. That sucked a little, because you definitely hear it. The ocean is ok. Some seaweed is in the water and washes ashore. They get rid of it every morning. It's totally swimmable though and quite nice. We went to a dreams resort in Mexico a few years back and there were enormous amounts of Sargassum that the resort didn't even try to get rid of. 7-mile beach in Negril is the best beach by far. RIU blocks your sunset BTW. There is no sunset. Which if you've ever been to 7-mile beach in Negril the sunsets in Jamaica are incredible. Thats about all I can think of. All that said, we wouldn't probably go back to this resort. But in all fairness, we are travel junkies and probably wouldn't go back to the same resort multiple times unless it was completely on point and well worth the money. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that exists anymore.

    Underwhelming stay

I stayed at the Royalton Blue Waters Montego Bay for a wedding . First things first, the hotel is in Trelawny not Montego Bay. That’s about 45 minutes to an hour from Montego Bay. While this was supposed to be a joyous occasion and nothing short of that, it’s been nothing but a headache, huge stressor for the bride, groom and guests, and nothing but pure regrets. First off the bride could not get in contact with these people inclusive of the wedding department that they have. They do not answer emails or phone calls. I also tried countless times to call the resort and email them. My trip came and went…no response to this day. They are very money hungry. All they saw were dollar signs being that it was a wedding. While I cannot list everything that has transpired because it’s an astronomical amount, I will list a few. The bride selected an arch with one of the wedding coordinators and paid additional for the arch. After she paid, they told her she couldn’t have that arch because it would mess their floors up. They told her she could not get a refund and would have to get a credit. Ummmm excuse me? Next they made the bride and groom pay $400 for the bridal party to eat dinner together. Why is there a charge for dinner when it’s an all inclusive resort? When we arrived for the dinner, they informed us that they knew nothing about the dinner. Someone then came back and said someone is at our table. This “dinner” was held at the buffet with the rest of the resort. We were not served or had special accommodations so what exactly was that $400 for. The bride has been requesting a refund and still nothing. The lock on my door was broken which resulted in me being unable to easily get in my room. I would have to keep trying until it eventually worked. I notified the front desk of this. The receptionist said the lock would be fixed. I reported this issue another 4 times and nothing was done until my last night when my lock physically fell off and onto the floor at 1 am. On the morning of the wedding, the bride didn’t have hot water to shower. The water was ice cold. When she called the front desk, the receptionist laughed out loud and said “I’ll make a note of it.” The bride had to go to another persons room to shower. One of the bartenders, Denroy, was very rude to my family and I. We asked him to make 6 Bob Marley drinks. The nerve of us to ask him to do his job. He said in patios “ 6 bumboclat Bob Marley drinks. A them f**kery yah mi can’t deal wid.” I am Jamaican so understood every cuss word and negativity that spewed out his mouth. He probably thought my family and I would not understand the dialect. In the midst of Denroy making our drinks that he did not want to, he proceeded to engage in an argument with another bartender in front of guests. He told him to suck his mother and that he will “push his knife in him.” Another staff Shenik, was very rude when I asked her for a high chair and reminded her because she had forgotten. For some reason when you ask questions or for assistance , the staff gets annoyed. The resort has very little to no entertainment which is a huge disappointment. All the bars/ quick bites close between 5-6 with the exception of 2 bars. The rooms are decent but had a moldy smell decent. I don’t know what the issue was. The food is okay and the service is okay depending on who you get. If you are staying on the family side of the resort you only have access to two restaurants and the budget. The Hideaway has access to all restaurants. Room service is 24 hours but they’re pointless because you’ll starve to death before they arrive. I ordered food through room service a total of 3 times. The first two times it took 2 hours. The 3rd night it took 4 hours. Thats right. You read correctly. 4 whole hours. 240 minutes. By the time they arrived at 4 am, we were sleeping. The drinks are watered down and even one of the bartenders told us they were. So the drinks were not that great. My family and I made the best of things and enjoyed being with each other but 0 out of 10. I would not recommend. Jamaica is such a beautiful place with so many nice hotels. I would never stay here again. No one could pay me to stay here again. Nor would I recommend this resort to a stranger. Brides…I highly suggest if this resort is on your list for your wedding to reconsider and reconsider expeditiously. Your day will not be nothing close to what you envision for your big day.

Disappointing stay at a beautifully mismanaged resort

Disappointing Stay at a Beautifully Mismanaged Resort I recently stayed at Royalton Blue Waters and unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. The experience began poorly and never quite recovered. The front desk staff were unwelcoming and provided no orientation about the resort, amenities, or dining options. Our room wasn't ready upon arrival, and within the first 24 hours, we had to change rooms three times due to various issues. While housekeeping staff were excellent and kept the rooms very clean, the overall room maintenance was shockingly poor. Across the three rooms we occupied: Fixtures were rusted or broken One tub had no faceplate for the faucet A closet door was missing entirely A hole was visible in the ceiling One room had no working air conditioning, while another was freezing cold The in-room phone didn’t work, making it impossible to reach the front desk when needed Room service was unreliable—orders were placed and simply never arrived. We also made a formal complaint to guest services and scheduled a meeting with a manager, who never showed up. On the dining front, the buffet and jerk hut frequently ran out of food, which was disappointing for an all-inclusive resort. The only highlight of the trip was the serving staff and the Vibes Team, who were friendly, hardworking, and brought much-needed positivity to the experience. A special shoutout to Kurk, Andres, and Brandon—their service was excellent and truly appreciated. And Picord from the Vibes Team was one of a kind—full of energy, warmth, and made everyone feel welcome. It’s important to note that the staff are not the issue—they’re doing their best under poor leadership. It’s the management that brings this resort down. Poor oversight, lack of accountability, and failure to deliver on basic standards are what truly ruin the guest experience here. I cannot recommend Royalton Blue Waters and would not return

We wanted to love our stay

We wanted to love our stay, but it just fell short. The beach is beautiful, the ocean warm, and the hotel pools were very nice. It wasn’t busy so we had no trouble securing chairs or towels by the pool and beach. It was difficult getting restaurant reservations, the buffet was average, service was very hit or miss- great one day and the next day we were ignored. Drinks were ok but they were out of a few things we asked for, like a bottle of Italian sparkling wine (5 listed on the menu) that we wanted to celebrate a birthday. All beef everywhere was so overcooked. Order rare meat at the steak house and expect medium well done. Glad another guest told us before we went. There wasn’t much entertainment or things to do after 5pm which was disappointing. Bring bug spray, there are mosquitoes and the gift shop sells a can of off for $26!! Our room was cleaned well and the front desk staff was pleasant. The AC was very weak in our room and the elevators are slow with only two in the wing we were staying in. We were asked by every person who worked at the resort to complete a review while they stood over us. It was horrible and an insincere way to get better reviews for the resort. We enjoyed our trip, but would not go back.
