  Not 5*, do not waste your money.

  Certainly not 5*, countless issues with this hotel and its staff. Currently seeking legal advice in order to obtain a full refund from TUI.

  Not worth the money

  Check in was awful , without Adonis our butler we would have been stuck, pool staff unfriendly , was made to buy a bottle of wine to sit on the terrace of a restaurant by a member of staff. No contingency for rain - roof leaking and ground soaking wet . None of the machines worked like the air hockey etc . Asked for a basketball and it was flat and there was no pump. Lazy river no floats . Couldn’t get a sun lounger after 7am unless paid for a cabana. Entertainment was generally good - Adele was amazing Restaurant bookings were made by our butler and even then we had to wait 40mins and were treated rudely . Adonis was amazing and always replied by text and informed us of when he had started work etc

  Fantastic resort and perfect service

  The resort was very nice! Adonis helped make our stay even better. Every friendly, checking in each day, offering to help if we had questions, super helpful

  Not what we were expecting

  This was my second time staying at this property. The first time was when Marriott started offering stays at the Royalton chain. I am a Titanium Elite member and was offered great service and the staff was attentive and helpful - in fact because of my Marriott status we were able to get reservations to restaurants easily and access to many of the Diamond offerings. The stay was great. This time though, I remain a Titanium Elite member and actually had 100 stays in 2025, just not the full spend to qualify for Ambassador status. Anyway, check in was over an hour waiting in line, we were told since we are not diamond we must wait. Any dinner reservations we tried to make were booked by diamond or held for diamond and thus had to either eat at 6pm of 9pm. The staff seemed to have lost the same attentiveness as our first visit. Overall the place was a different experience completely. Almost every staff member we came in contact with was uninterested in interacting with us. The only exception was our room cleaner and the casino staff. The staff as stated, seemed to be more interested in their own affairs than the guests. Many of the restaurants we felt like we were forgotten at the table and in fact we left two different nights without getting our main course or cocktails we ordered. This is after waiting for reservations in line and sitting at a table for over 45 minutes once seated. The entire place changed since our visit three years ago. I would not recommend it and as a higher Marriott status member, there is no benefit to being with Marriott if going to this Royalton. Several times we were told if we wanted to pay more for Diamond, we would get better opportunities to what I would call would be standard accommodations for a guest that is paying over 2K for a few night stay. Anyway, feedback is a gift and I hope my gift to you is to 1) ensure that Marriott Status members know about the difference between treatment between Diamond and all other folks and 2) hire employees that care about guest satisfaction. We were asked to rate the hotel before they would let us leave. A card was placed in front of me and I asked if I could take it with me and I was told no, I needed to fill it out to leave. WTH? Yeah ok, this is definitely one way to achieve better ratings if the staff member is over you when filling out the card. I gave a 6 out of 10, but may have been less generous if any of the above didn't sour our experience.

  Good for kid's activities and overall ok, but no chapel and poor interior design (old, damaged bathrooms need update)

  Our vacation in Royalton Punta Cana was overall a good experience. We enjoyed beautiful weather, surfing, swimming in the ocean, relaxing on the beach, and delicious drinks and coconuts! Our concierge, Adonis Almonte, was very helpful, and we really appreciate his kindness and caring. He was always available for us and answering our questions, always asking if we needed any help. We are so happy to have him there. There was also a very nice waiter on the beach—Fernando; he was preparing delicious drinks for us. Our favorite was passion fruit mojitos, alcohol-free. We and our children will remember this flavor for years. We really appreciate that the hotel is providing so many opportunities for kids’ activities. Our kids really enjoyed the surfing place as number 1! It was their favorite thing to do. Also, the lazy river was a great experience, as were the mini golf, ping pong, and swings in the kid’s zone. Our kids love animals, so they love to pet the cat and watch little cats in the bushes playing around. We really enjoyed it 100%. The only thing that we were disappointed about was the lack of opportunity to attend a Sunday Catholic mass. We are Catholics, and it is very important to us. We have been in so many resorts in the Dominican Republic, and that was our 1st time where there was no chapel and not even a small place offering a Sunday mass in the entire resort. Also, there was no sign of the Christmas season in the resort at all. The only thing we saw related to Christmas was a Christmas tree in the lobby, but there was not even one nativity scene showing baby Jesus was born and the holy family together. It was a very big disappointment for us and for our children, since we come to the Dominican Republic every year around this time of year (because kids have winter break), and it is our 1st time when in the resort there was no sign of Christmas beside the Christmas tree in the lobby. We come to the Dominican Republic, which is a Catholic country, and so we expect to experience that culture, traditions, and history. Please consider providing that opportunity for people like us so we can meet together and pray. You can offer a Sunday mass tour to the local church or hire a priest to come over, as we experienced in the other resorts. We are not considering coming back until that change. The room we had with the balcony on the 3rd floor was really nice; the beds were very comfortable, the bedding experience was good, and the cover pillows were very comfortable. We liked the slippers and bathrobe in the room; they were very useful. The only thing not useful in the room was the bathtub in the middle of the room, taking too much space, and we did not use it even once. Our kids (9 and 13 years old) prefer a little more privacy for bathing, and we do too. Maybe it is good for families with babies but not for older kids. Also, the toilet separated from the sink is very uncomfortable. We prefer to wash our hands right after using a toilet ☺, so the sink will be nice if it is next to the toilet ;). This is a little bit not hygienic right now. We are surprised because the hotel is not old, but this design is not a perfect thing. Also, the interior design in the entire resort was very poor. All bathrooms are the same; there is no interior design in the bathrooms at all. Please consider adding it to make the resort prettier. Even small details like natural wood decorations can help a lot. The Italian restaurant that we went to also had no interior design at all; we felt like we were in an empty room with tables. Overall interior design in the Royalton resort was not meeting our expectations. We are coming to the Dominican Republic, and we want to see some sign of this beautiful country around us, in the rooms, bathrooms, and other places that we are using. Our food experience at the Royalton resort was good. We love lobsters served for New Year's Eve and the next day. Also grilled shrimp and passion fruit were our favorite things to eat—so delicious!!! Unfortunately, coconuts were expensive $$ and only for purchase on the beach. I didn’t see any coconuts in the buffet. I think coconuts should be offered as a drink and fruit in the buffet too, as bananas and other local fruits are, but not only for purchasing on the beach. Please consider offering it in the buffet. We were happy to try nuts from the tree that was next to a towel center and happy to have staff to explain how to eat them. We also enjoyed a cafe bar, especially on the last day when we were able to take sandwiches to go (it was so good to eat them at the airport when we had a delayed flight). Every day was a good coffee in the cafeteria. Unfortunately, the ice cream and cookies were not to our taste. I am happy that Royalton also offers decaffeinated coffee and teas, a green tea, and a chamomile tea. The beach was very nice, although in the first few days we had a problem to find a space for our 2 families. People were marking their spots very early in the morning, so on the 1st day we had to stay on the beach without any shade. After we spoke about that with Adonis the next day, he helped us to solve this problem by recommending his friend Starling, and he was also very nice to arrange a place for us on the beach in the shade. So, it was great to have the designated person—Adonis—for solving any problem we had. We really appreciate the job he did for us.
