Health Concerns for Babies
We stayed at Royalton Bavaro as a family group. While the resort has some strengths, there was one major concern worth highlighting. Two babies in our party developed hand, foot, and mouth infection two days after returning home. While we can’t say with certainty where it was contracted, the timing of both babies falling ill is concerning— especially at a family-oriented resort. Parents traveling with young children should be aware and take extra hygiene precautions. Aside from that, the grounds are nice and well maintained, with a great beachfront setting. The rooms are decent but noticeably worn and in need of updating. The food was fair — plenty of options, but quality was inconsistent and long wait times for food in the buffet. Overall, the resort is average. The property itself is appealing, but the health issue significantly impacts our overall experience and impressions of the resort.

Luxury Prices, Motel-Level Service
Our stay at Royalton Bávaro was beyond disappointing and nowhere near the “luxury” experience it advertises. The service was absolutely horrible. We repeatedly waited over an hour just to get a glass of water at dinner. On multiple nights, we ended up walking out of the restaurant entirely because no one came to our table. Staff were inattentive and seemed completely overwhelmed or uninterested. The food was disgusting — low quality, poorly prepared, and very repetitive. Even when we did stay long enough to eat, it was not enjoyable. Dining became frustrating instead of relaxing. Housekeeping was also unacceptable. Our room was only cleaned twice during our entire week-long stay. For the amount of money this resort charges, basic cleanliness and daily service should not be an issue. Overall, this resort does not deliver what it promises. We regret choosing it and would not return or recommend it to anyone looking for a true luxury vacation.

A Flawless Wedding Experience — Five-Star Service Beyond Our Dreams
From the moment we arrived, the hotel exceeded every expectation. The property itself is absolutely stunning and full of vibrant energy. Our entire wedding party had an incredible stay, and the atmosphere truly enhanced such a monumental occasion for us. We had the privilege of staying in the Chairman’s Suite, and having Carlos as our butler made the experience exceptional. Carlos was the epitome of professionalism — attentive, proactive, and consistently responsive. He anticipated our needs before we even voiced them and ensured every detail was handled seamlessly. Not only did he take outstanding care of us, but he also went above and beyond to assist our wedding guests whenever needed. With a wedding of our size and so many moving parts, having someone so calm, capable, and solution-oriented made all the difference. Because of him, we were able to be fully present and truly enjoy every moment. And then there is Briangna — our wedding coordinator — who was nothing short of PHENOMENAL. She allowed us to have the best wedding imaginable. Despite our large guest count and the constant adjustments that naturally come with destination weddings, she remained composed, patient, and incredibly organized. Never once did she seem stressed, annoyed, or flustered. Instead, she handled every change with grace and confidence. Her calm energy reassured us throughout the entire process, and her execution on wedding day was flawless. She turned our vision into reality and elevated it beyond what we could have imagined. The resort’s entertainment, ambiance, and overall vibe were unmatched. Every event felt elevated, and our guests are still raving about the entire experience. This was more than just a stay — it was a beautifully orchestrated celebration. Carlos and Briangna truly set the standard for five-star service, and we are beyond grateful. We would return in a heartbeat.

Still Waiting on Refund 3 Months Later
It is with great disappointment that I have to use this platform for resolution regarding an outstanding refund owed to me following my family’s stay at Royalton Bavaro Punta Cana from November 26–30. An email was sent to general manager Cesar Garcia, but the address I was given returned an error. In May 2025, I reserved five Diamond Club rooms and specifically requested that two rooms (for a parent and her children, ages 11 and 18) be located adjacent to one another or at minimum on the same floor. This request was confirmed multiple times via email and verbally prior to arrival, a month and again a week before arrival. Upon arrival, we waited nearly five hours for room assignments. The children’s room was placed in Building 16, which is not a Diamond Club building, while our other rooms were in Buildings 18 and 19. The property was oversold and no appropriate Diamond Club alternative was available. After extensive discussion with management, I agreed to consolidate the children into their parent’s room to accommodate another displaced family. Three other families didn't have a room because the resort was oversold. Manager Elvis and I agreed to a refund of $708, representing the difference for the unused Diamond Club room. Additionally, my Presidential Diamond Club Suite had a severe sewage odor and a broken sofa, which caused my husband to fall through it. Due to the resort being sold out, we were forced to sleep in my daughter’s suite for one night. The agreed refund for the unusable Presidential Suite night was $416. The total agreed refund is $1,124. During my stay, I met with Elvis and the visiting Assistant General Manager to review and confirm these refund amounts. Before checkout, Elvis instructed an assistant to draft a written confirmation of the refund; however, I never received that documentation. Since then, I have opened multiple case numbers and followed up repeatedly with both Elvis and Ricardo. While both have acknowledged the refund, it has not been processed. It has now been three months. I have audio recordings of our meetings confirming the refund amounts, as well as WhatsApp correspondence acknowledging the agreement. I have previously celebrated milestone events at Royalton properties and have referred friends and family. Unfortunately, this experience has been the most disappointing management situation I have encountered. I am requesting written confirmation when the $1,124 refund will be processed. If I do not receive confirmation, I will escalate this matter to Marriott and Royalton corporate offices and pursue additional avenues for resolution. I believe I have been patient and more than reasonable. I simply expect the agreed-upon refund to be honored.

Cruise ship on shore
We upgraded to the Diamond Club which for us was of little value since we didn’t stay at the resort much. The check-in process was far too long for getting in and just wanting to get into our rooms. As a Marriott titanium elite member the room could not have been in a worse location right by the entrance to the building with people coming in and out all night long, slamming doors, and drunk and yelling. We did not sleep one wink two of the nights we stayed. Our friends were not given the king room they paid for- they were given a double and told they could be moved the next day but there was no follow through. Day 2 we were asked if everything in the room was satisfactory and when we told them the coffee machine didn’t work they did nothing about it. It was dirty when we arrived and didn’t drain into the pot. We paid $150 per person for the “culinary experience” which was the absolute worst meal I have ever eaten in my life. All 12 people at the table agreed. The food left a lot to be desired in all of the restaurants which you needed a reservation for, one of the reasons we got the butler service to begin with. While our butler was nice enough, a lot of times we felt smothered. We are not the type of people who need someone planning our vacation. The cherry on top was being told they were reserving us a table for breakfast at 8:30 am on day 3 so that we could receive our welcome gift. As Marriott members we normally get points, however we opted for the cabana and the discount on massages. We showed up to breakfast to find out it was a sales meeting trying to get us to buy a vacation club. This was deceptively done and infuriating. Needless to say, we did not book massages even though diamond club was supposed to come with discounts on them anyway. I had to ask 3 times to get the robes we were supposed to have in our rooms too. The rooms are old and used up and need quite a bit of maintenance. While the location was good, we get better service and the Fairfield Inn.
