  Skip Diamond- not a bad stay- but was better previously

  Well- we had visited this property about 3 years ago and it was pretty fresh and clean at that time but….. unfortunately they have not maintained the rooms or bathrooms as well as they should. You definitely see a lot of wear in the rooms - areas where repairs were made. Chips and rust here and there. Upon arrival we had a broken lock on sliding door and bathroom door would not close and toilet was leaking. They did fix promptly but quality control is definitely lacking. The food was good and all staff was very nice! Don’t bother with paying extra for diamond- the only benefit was dinner reservations we did not have to worry about but the check in is long- the butler is more like a concierge- not butler. The beach chairs are the same - the pool is nice but small. Coffee shop was good! And staff was good- just need to invest in maintenance. Have stayed at the other Royaltons - this is the best in Punta Cana because it’s smaller and newer.

  Serious illness

  ⭐ 1-Star Review – Would Not Recommend I would not recommend this hotel based on my very distressing experience. Just three days into my holiday in November, I became extremely unwell with severe diarrhoea and was admitted to hospital for two days. I am now over a month on and still recovering from a serious bacterial infection as a result of this illness. The situation was made even more upsetting by the response from the TUI representative. Rather than offering compassion or support, they were dismissive and rude, and tried to say it was gastroenteritis,” which was proven to be untrue with my discharge notes from the hospital . At a time when I was frightened and seriously ill, I felt completely let down. Hygiene standards are also a major concern. During our stay, we saw a rat running around near the burger van, which is completely unacceptable and raises serious questions about food safety and cleanliness. The rooms was not cleaned. Regularly dirty plates was left for days in the hallway. We visited this hotel to 2 years ago and the standards have definitely fallen unfortunately . My daughter even found hair in the coleslaw she was eating I would not trust the food or the water in this resort bottled water seemed to be very limited and they would rather give you it in a cup . I wasn’t the only person unwell as when I went to see the doctor for a fit to fly certificate there was another two people with the same symptoms. What was meant to be a relaxing holiday turned into a traumatic experience that has affected my health long after returning home. I strongly advise others to think very carefully before booking this hotel.

  Wedding

  Firstly I could not complain about the location the actual hotel, entertainment, food, drinks all was top class. But when it comes to checking in and out. Where do I start! We arrived late afternoon the reception desk was busy there was 4 staff members and i believe we were unfortunate to have the worst. After half an hr of checking in and receiving our hotel bands we got taken to our room. We were part of a group of 18 for a wedding. All of use were put in different locations of the hotel. Again no real problem the problem started on day 3 our 14 year old daughter while having fun at the foam party realised her band had come off she was mortified we immediately reported this plus mine as mine was coming loose. Mine was replaced but they refused my daughter a new band unless we paid 150dollars. At no point or any of our party told when checking in that a charge would be given for a replacement. I showed how mine was not put on properly and I easily removed it from my wrist. Now understandable if my daughter was older mayb drunk or was messing about but it clearly wasnt put on properly. To the be told a 14 year old should have been more responsible and they hoped we would find it. How possibly? They were not prepared to check the filters or help in anyway. The manager of receopion was the most arrogant man I have ever come across had no customer skills what so ever and just stood stating 150 dollars then ignored us. When questioning what can be done he again stated 150 dollars. Aparently the higher manager was not available. So a warning to everyone visiting this resort. The place itself is fabulous infact eveything was just amasing but if you loose your band or have the unfortunate experience of having to speak with front of desk. Be warned their behaviur is absolutely disgusting 🫣

  Fun beach vibes

  The beach is really nice and we love the staff. Positives: we absolutely love the Royalton Fit staff, the gym is nice and the fitness classes are so fun. Special shout out to Willians, Juan, and Ceasar. The kickboxing class is super fun and we loved morning yoga and Pilates. Willains’ water aerobics class was so great! The staff in general is super fun and nice. The white party was a lot of fun: think beach dj and dancers in light outfits on stilts. The night shows are fun too, great dancers and musicians. The beach is gorgeous and the water is very warm and clean. Cons: the app is very inconsistent and it is frustrating that you have to book all meal reservations through the app and the preference the diamond club members for meal reservations. This has nothing to do with the staff, just with the Marriott app and the fact that Marriott is trying to upsell hard with the diamond club (it doesn’t seem to get you much of anything other than first pick at restaurant reservations and an additional pool? Doesn’t seem worth the added cost). Meal reservations in general are needlessly complicated and they do not allow the staff really to help you but policy makes you go through the app to reserve. This definitely took us out of chill vacation mode because we wanted to make sure we tried all the restaurants and it was a struggle to get reservations through the app which has a bad user interface and works only inconsistently. Overall we had a great stay and the parties and workout classes were a lot of fun.

  Mixed experience – outstanding staff but the resort needs improvement

  We’ve just returned from a stay at Royalton Bavaro, overall I’d describe our experience as mixed. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the food. Across the resort, the quality was inconsistent, often lukewarm or cold and generally not what we expected from a resort of this level. A number of restaurants also felt tired and not as clean as they should be, which really detracted from the dining experience. Several areas of the resort, including rooms and communal spaces, are clearly in need of refurbishment and upgrades, as they are starting to look very worn. That said, there were some real highlights that significantly improved our stay. The Diamond Club swim-up rooms were excellent, once we were correctly located and the DC facilities made a huge difference to our comfort and enjoyment. The Diamond Club pool cabana was also a great addition and one of the best parts of our stay (they are an additional cost but worth the extra money for our family). Most importantly, the staff were exceptional in key areas. Our butler Freylin truly went above and beyond — he was professional, kind, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our stay enjoyable (I don’t think he ever goes home!). Miguel and Cambrlo at the DC pool cabanas work incredibly hard and consistently delivered outstanding service, always with a smile and both deserve a special mention for excellent service and effort during our stay. This resort has the potential to be so much better, with a few changes, I’m afraid it isn’t currently a 5* hotel. The Diamond Club experience and certain staff members really shine, but the food quality and the tired condition of parts of the resort let it down. Unfortunately although the staff were great we won’t be back
