Nov 30, 2025Nice Resort, but the Food Ruins it.
The resort was beautiful and we enjoyed the amenities. We upgraded to be a part of the Diamond Club, and I’d say that was definitely part of what made this a 3 and not a 2. The butler service was unimpressive and the rooms were fine. The service in the diamond club lounge as well as the upgraded alcohol was definitely worth it. The food was absolutely horrible. Like, some of the worst food I’ve ever had. I’ve been to quite a few all inclusive resorts before, so I know the deal— the food is for the masses, I should not expect anything. Multiple people in our group got sick. It absolutely took away from our experience, which was a shame since it’s a beautiful resort. We definitely won’t be returning.

Just a point by point here: --this is not a family resort. The kids club is rundown and not active, there are not activities for families throughout the day like other resorts offer, and it's frowned upon to not have your children within 3ft of you at all times --the staff is aggressive in their sales techniques for upgrades, specialty treatments, selling novelties, and signing up for information meetings. I understand that it is their livelihood and have compassion for this but it makes for an uncomfortable lounging environment in the public areas --The registration desk is always unorganized, slow, and unequipped to handle people. With several check-in computers they only have 1-2 staff members working a computer at any given time. When the staff feels overwhelmed they disappear entirely for 10 minute intervals --You have to plead with the staff to get your room cleaned daily, restock your clean water supply, etc...what should happen naturally when you pay a premium for a resort stay just doesn't apply here. --they have way too many staff members in general and it seems to create a very nervous and unorganized environment. Maybe it's part of the culture but my observation is that no one wants to actually work and they just delegate it to someone else and then it continues to get passed around. I watched 5 guys trying to hang a ground level set of lights from a single palm tree. Buffet staff walking past food left on the floor and leaving tables unattended entirely while they were on their phones. Dozens of paid employees sitting around while lines would pile up and guests needed services. --Buffet Restaurant---it's not air conditioned, it's hot and humid, there are flies lining the food distribution areas, and the service is poor in general. I don't blame them but the cooks through to the wait staff seem miserable and resentful in general. Hospitality might not be a thing for Royalton but they definitely have it at Majestic and the other resorts. Be careful of the food and water as it got me quite sick for 2 days. --The family suite rooms leave a lot to be desired. The 2nd bed is smaller than a full size bed and it very uncomfortable. You'll have a hard time fitting a family of 4 in here comfortably. --Half of the fitness center is closed down and this is not listed on the website. So when you arrive be prepared to be dissapointed that the 2nd floor is under construction and likely will be for the coming years --Our concierge Adoni was extremely helpful with our stay and in catering to us. Nothing bad at all to say about him --The coffee in the coffee shop is not good at all. Even if it were acceptable I would not mention it here but it tastes so sour and rancid that it's hard to believe they are using anything close to real dominican coffee beans. --Final note that most anything worthwhile here is going to cost you extra out of pocket whereas most other resorts in the area include these things because you're already paying a premium. They try and get you to pay an extra $60/day per person for Diamond club just so you can have access to a convenient restaurant, a waterpark at their sister resort, etc....

It was the best experience
Great stay the hotel staff was great and attentive, Diamond club was the best Hector our Butler was fantastic. The beach was amazing and the pool.
