  Hike with Scott, beautiful stay

  We started the trip off with an awesome hike to Fort Barrington with Scott. He was knowledgeable, helpful and so much fun. Food at the buffet is great and there are a lot of options for non-meat eaters. The beach and the view are beautiful.

  Nice hotel and location, just a bit lacking on the service side

  We stayed here in early December 2025. The plus points are the hotel is situated near a great beach (deep bay). The waters are clear and teeming with fish. You may be lucky to catch a turtle out kayaking or windsurfing as I did. We even saw a stingray leap from the water one evening. The hotel seemed quite modern and well laid out and our room on the 8th floor was very nice with a good view over the bay from our balcony (you could even watch the ocean liners coming to and from St John's harbour). Air con worked very well as did the shower, although annoying I'd run a bowl of water for a shave and it keep running away (I've heard that from other guests). We had the diamond club package (it just seemed to come with the booking via Virgin, I couldn't tell you how much extra it was, if at all). I hear it can be as much as $900 dollars more added on to a stay, which isn't really worth that. It gave you access to the Diamond club lounge which was nice, as you could get snacks and drinks whenever you wanted in air conditioned comfort there. You also get butler service with diamond club. We had lovely butlers, Dymond and Emerson, but we are not the sort of people who want to be fussed over, so we were not demanding of them. They booked our restaurants and left us some lovely snacks in our room and regularly texted us good morning and asked if there was anything we needed each day. Diamond Club also gave us access to a particular part of the beach, which seemed to have better loungers and it's own bar BUT the service from the bars in general was dreadfully slow and the people serving on the whole seemed fed up. We'd often get two drinks at a time to save keep on standing waiting at the bar. They also ran out of a few things regularly. The water sports section could do with a little shake up in terms of service as well. You can get kayaks out here and they had a windsurfer (although not a great one). You can borrow googles and a snorkel but I didn't see any flippers (may have been there?) We didn't use the spa. We had a complimentary hydro-therapy session with the diamond package but it was busted throughout our stay. Massages were ridiculously priced, so I got one on the beach from a local lady for just $40 for 30 minutes. Speaking of which, you could hire jet bikes from the beach as we did and water-skiing was available (although I didn't see anyone doing that in our whole 9 days there). The food in the buffet part was ok, a fair variety but sometimes not as hot as it should have been (much as you would expect from the typical all inclusive Caribbean hotel set up). The Italian and Caribbean restaurants have lovely vistas being out partially over the bay, facing the water bungalows and the service was really good in those. We were looking forward to Hunters steak restaurant, but the service was so bad (over an hour to get our food and they claimed we were not booked, when we clearly were by our butlers). The food was cold and tasteless, so we never went back. Very disappointing. Entertainment was ok and there was a spectacular aquatic show put on by the dance troupe in the main pool one afternoon which was the highlight of the entertainment for us. We climbed up to Barrington Fort which was a slight challenge, but we got to see a spectacular sunset from there, so well worth the effort for that. Overall we had a lovely stay, in a well appointed hotel, set in a lovely location but they really need to work on the service aspect of it.

  Would recommend somewhere else

  I very rarely write bad review but this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. Took 2hrs to check in. Room we received had AC that didn’t work. The tech came in and said he wasn’t able to fix and we were told we would receive new room, which never happened. Was told that management would reach out but never happened. Front desk staff was very rude. The wait staff in the restaurant was very nice. Food was Ok, not worth the price you pay to stay. Grounds can be updated. Kids game room was full of broken games. For the price, I would recommend staying somewhere nice. Management seems like they go out of their way to be rude. We were not the only family with issue at checkout.

  Not recommended

  The stuff is so unfriendly and food is way below average, the people that work there even said that they do not eat it, it was shocking. No to mention all cats and dogs walking around you when you eat

  An amazing resort for much needed Mum and Daughter time.

  We had a lovely time at the Royalton. All the staff went over and beyond to ensure we had the perfect holiday. We really appreciated the butlers checking in on us everyday so thank you Brandon and Coco. The vibe team were excellent at getting us involved in activities and the gym team delivered such fun aqua sessions everyday. We are looking forward to coming again.
