A Highly Disgruntled Member
My wife and I became members of Solaris 5 yrs ago. On our most recent trip in May 2019 we upgraded our membership. I wish we hadn't. We were all set for our 3rd trip to the Solaris Cancun Caribe in March 2020 after a week of exhausting deliberations regarding our 7 day free stay certificate. Come to find out it wasn't free after all since we wind up paying around $550 on some BS technicality regarding our travel time even though we upgraded our membership from low season to all year. They made us pay around $550 because we were traveling in March. Go Figure. I argued with them for over a week regarding this to no avail. The folks in reservations were super slow in getting back to me and no one could ever provide me with a calculation of the $550 fee we paid was determined. It's like they just pulled it out of the air. I find that there is always drama trying to get reservations confirmed. It should never take 2 weeks to get a reservation confirmation. That's just unacceptable. My sorrows really began after we had to cancel our trip due to the worldwide Covid19 epidemic. I have been fighting with Karla in reservations to refund our monies since MARCH 2020!!!! It should never take 4 months to refund a credit card under any circumstances. Everytime I called or emailed I couldn't get any clarity as to why refunding our money has taken so long. We still haven't been reimbursed as I sit here and write this. I find this to be totally unacceptable especially since in May 2020 I received an email from karla stating our refund was approved. Weeks later after we still haven't received the refund, I was told that additional information was needed since the reimbursement was 6 weeks stale and outdated. I sent the additional bank information to Karla and still haven't been reimbursed. on July 23rd 2020 I received this email from Solaris: "We sorry our delay, and thank you for your patience, we know that waiting for your money back has not been easy, we said that this takes 4 weeks but due to the high demand for refunds and cancellations it has taken longer, I'm still following your refund process, at this time i don't have any update, but as soon i have and update i will let you know. I find this totally unprofessional and shady. Solaris had our money since March 2020 and collection interest on it, meanwhile I'm here waiting and being presented with sob excuses. BE AWARE DOING BUSINESS WITH SOLARIS SUCKS. THEY WILL OFFER YOU SORRY EXCUSES BUT NO RESOLUTIONS.
Family Vacation From Texas/Oklahoma
We had an excellent stay. Lots of fun by the pool with Dafhne and Oliver. The shows were awesome at night. The restaurants were good and had great service. I want to thank Alejandro Carrillo and the lady that works with him for making the arrangements to get a photographer for our family pictures on the beach. You two are amazing and thank you. I also want to thank Noe Castillo for helping me out. We will be back next year. We were also extremely pleased with the manner in which Solaris prepared and maintained the facility to accommodate the standards required to open and provide guests with a safe stay.
Adjusting to the current world crisis
First it is important to state that we were extremely pleased with the manner in which Solaris prepared and maintained the facility to accommodate the standards required to open and provide quests with a safe stay. Equally prepared are all the staff members, working in all areas of the resort. Despite wearing face masks and plastic shields over their faces at all times, we couldn’t help see their smiles from behind the masks. So happy they were to serve their guests. As members we have visited Solaris countless times, and although some of features were not available, we didn’t feel like we were missing anything. Every meal was a treat, drinks were fresh and the glasses were always full. We did miss some of our favorite waiters, but we made new friends. A nice touch is went the wait staff remembers what you drink at breakfast or around the pool. Thank you to the Cafe Solaris staff for keeping us well fed and always doing their best to accommodate. Ignacio, Laura, Ricardo, Eduardo, Israel and Luis did an impeccable job the entire week. We hope to see all of them at our next visit. Our favorite restaurant, Bogavante did not disappoint. Portions were a tad bit smaller, but still there was plenty of food and variety. Hats off to Garcia and Josefina! We appreciated all their efforts. And we can’t forget the staff around the pool, Jeyson and Laura. Drinks stayed full and their pleasant personalities were appreciated. A special thank you to Dafne in Activities, she played our favorite songs, listened to our silly chatter and organized great bingo and guessing games. All in all, a wonderful trip. Not a single worry or complaint. Already planning our next trip.
Beware of timeshare scams!
Beware of royal solaris timeshare scams! They are bunch of deceitful and pushy people. On the day we arrived they invited us to 90 mins timeshare presentation in exchange of free aquarium tickets. So the next day, we came to the meeting and spent 4 hours to listen to all lies and pushed you to join their timeshare. We We won’t come back to this place and just say NO to join their membership/timeshare.
Fun Family resort
We are frequent travelers to Cancun and have stayed in the other Solaris properties as well. Royal Solaris is a fun family resort where we found many folks returning or time share holders. Most of the interests here is on the exterior of the hotel as the inside is small with little to offer. There is no grand entrance so check in was a little awkward. They were in the process of renovating so perhaps that would help. As typical with my reviews, I will break it down into categories: Rooms: were slightly below average but fun with the lighting. Appointments and comfort were ok. We did ask for an upgrade for an ocean view which was granted (for an expected fee) but what we were very disappointed about was there are no balconies and the windows were in need of cleaning. Save your money on the room selection. Food: Interior restaurants were none. There was one but under renovations. The buffet was average and food selection was OK. They do have an adjoining boutique style hotel which has 3 restaurants and were all very good. Service in all areas were excellent. Daytime snacks by the pool seemed to really be the best option and while there were long lines they had some very typical food that was tasty. High five to the pizza lady. Entertainment: Staff were great and engaging. Great job to Fernando, Samm, and Eder. Shows were an improvement from our last stay at these properties. Poolside service: The chefs/cooks worked very hard and were appreciated. Special acknowledgement to Nancy Marlene Navarrete Martinez whose absence on her day off was horribly noticed. She was great and probably would do better at a higher end hotel. We felt her skills to be underappreciated at this resort. Also like to acknowledge Gloria (her last name is not known to me) who was in charge of cleaning the bathrooms. She is hard of hearing and doesn't talk much but she contended with some very gross things and unfortunately does not get any credit. So here is my praise to you. thank you. Overall, we were satisfied with this family friendly resort. It is clear by the number of folks returning that there is something to like about the community. Most of the patrons are young so it can get a bit rowdy. The staff work very hard with what they have.
