A nice family trip at the Royal Solaris with some Pros and Cons
After reading the many great reviews of this hotel, we decided to try it out for ourselves. because of so many positive reviews, we may have had high expectations going into our trip. Not to say we were completely disappointed, because we had a wonderful trip, but definitely some pros and cons to the hotel. The pros: Super clean hotel, not one bug to be found, the common areas were always well kept and room was cleaned daily. We had a newer room, it was always cleaned daily with fresh towels and sheets. Service was good. In the buffet/bars you had great service on days and others weren’t the best but in all, staff was very friendly and helpful. Beach/ocean is clean and swimmable Family oriented hotel Cons: Food is mediocre - there was some great food items like the Mexican food specialties but other food in the buffet tended to be recycled sometimes and not the best tasting. Drinks were good, but only two bars available - one in the lobby and one at the pool area and the pool bar closed around 6. No coffee available during the day. Whatever was available didn’t taste the best and we had to go to the adults only side to get it. You get a little hounded when arriving to become a member of their hotel. This membership allows you access to some of the better amenities in the hotel like another bar, a clubhouse area, premium drinks, breakfast on the beach and better rooms with balconies. If you are travelling with a baby and need to use a stroller be aware the accessibility is a little challenging. You have to keep a mental map of which elevators to use to get to certain parts of the hotel otherwise you find yourself carrying your stroller down stairs. If travelling with a baby they cannot guarantee your request for a crib so be sure to have a back up plan. I emailed before hand to secure a crib, even offered to pay for one, but wasn’t guaranteed a crib and they did not give us one when we checked in. Lucky I rented one through an app called BabyQuip - I used Vicky she was fantastic. High chairs weren’t always available in the buffet either so bring your own to avoid waiting for one. No balconies for standard rooms. only available to members who upgrade. We were willing to pay to upgrade our room but were told we were not able to because they keep those rooms for members only. Small resort, if you like something that has a bigger property to explore with a lot of entertainment this place isn’t for you. The shows are good but for the rest of the evening it is quiet. The lobby area is quite small with very little seating and there is no outdoor lobby area with a bar to enjoy an evening outdoors instead. Lobby had a pool table with no pockets to actually play - it was almost like a running joke amongst the guests Property is quite far from the strip and you need to take a cab to get anywhere. There is Nothing around walking distance. For the price you pay it is okay. It was an affordable trip for us and we were happy with how clean the property was, especially since it was our first time travelling with a toddler. We definitely would have wanted more out of the amenities and food. We would definitely go back to Cancún because we felt safe, weather, beach, Mexican food, and local malls/attractions are awesome. Would try another hotel next time for a different experience.

Nice coffee and staff at the GR Caribe.
Mariel y Auri in the coffee shop are both very good at their jobs, they make the drinks well and both are very engaging and remember you when you stop back. It's always fun to stop over and have a chat with them. Its always quiet and a good place to have a quiet chat or get work done if necessary. Everything is always nice and clean.

So bad, that a lady died.
The food is just awful, the consition of the premisses is massively outdated. Alla-card restaurants were a disaster. Entertainment team is very very poor. Children club is so horrible- all employees just watch their phones. Not taking care of the children. And finally: the older lady just swiped over the floor at the marco polo restaurant and fell. She died. I am in a horror movie. Run away from this hotel. Just this is the worst i have ever seen.
