Overpriced and Underwhelming Stay — Not Family-Friendly
Our recent stay at the Solaris Hotel was disappointing overall. The food was mediocre with very limited variety. Although the resort advertised different themed nights, every evening’s menu seemed almost identical. The kids’ food selection was extremely limited — we struggled to find anything our children would eat and ended up ordering room service nearly every night (for about 100 pesos per service) The buffet frequently ran out of food and it took a long time to refill items. Desserts were average at best. On the positive side, the waitstaff were polite and efficient, and the poolside bartenders — especially Cecilia — were excellent. However, there were very few options for alcohol with only one pool bar and one lobby bar available. The pool bar constantly ran out of liquors, particularly spiced rum, within an hour or two of opening, and it didn’t open until 11 a.m. They also ran out of basic ingredients like mango mix. The poolside food service had similar issues, such as long waits for burgers, fries, and nuggets — and one day, they completely ran out of ketchup. I also received an undercooked burger, which unfortunately made me sick for two days. Entertainment was repetitive, as the same shows were performed each week. While the dancing was good, more variety would have been appreciated. The pool water was quite cold, and children were not allowed in the hot tub. The hotel bathrooms were small, and the shower leaked water onto the floor. The floors, both in the rooms and throughout the hotel, were dangerously slippery when wet — my father actually slipped in the bathroom due to this. The bed was very firm and uncomfortable, and the pillows were lumpy and needed replacing. We upgraded our room for $720 USD to include a balcony with a hot tub, but the plug didn’t work. Despite calling the front desk, no one ever came to fix it. Our safe was also broken — maintenance eventually replaced it, but the process took more than an hour. Housekeeping by pool could be improved. A lady fell and cut her leg open (thankfully she was ok) but her blood was left on the main path by the pool and a chair sitting in the sun for nearly 2 hours...several people walked in it which is just disgusting. The concierge’s aggressive sales pitch for Club Solaris made the experience even less relaxing. Overall, the resort felt overpriced for what it offered, and it’s not somewhere I’d recommend for families with kids. Unfortunately, we don’t plan on returning.

Unexpected Highlight of the Resort...Medic On Site !
Great all inclusive experience, backing right on to the Gulf of Mexico and a view of a lagoon if your room is on the other side. Unexpected highlight of my trip was developing a gunk of ear wax, residual from the ocean sand (If experienced, dont use cue tips to clean, pushes the sand in even more, but just let the water wash it out) in my case, I tried cleaning it with a tip first and ended up with a complete block in the right ear and loss of hearing. Was nervous about the flight and having to deal with an ear flush after I land....when, from my window, I caught a glimpse of a suited medic with a stethoscope around the neck..Checking in to the resort, which soon led to the understanding that the resort has a full on Doctor on site, at your disposal, should you unfortunately need one. Dr. Victor Fernando Dominguez Flores was a God send in my case. Diagnosed my ear issue on the fly (No Fee)...and made me comfortable enough to get the ear flush from him, on the spot, there was a gentle ear pop...and the rest is an unforgettable trip!

Royal Solaris Cancun
Amazing hotel with a beautiful beach and nice pool area, great service and staff. The kids loved the kids club and the friendly staff there. They had several different fun activities for the kids every day and a fun pool area with animals and slides. A special thank you to Nicte for making fun unforgetable memories for our kids. I can warmly recommend this hotel.
