Riu Vallarta second time
Very nice since I was there before and after reno"s were done,Buffet good variety, steak house good celebrated sister bday there waiters were great , Italian went there 2x's very good, hotel very clean, lots of room at pools and beach. All staff very friendly from front desk, waiters to cleaners. Room nicely redone.I would have no problem returning here.
The Hotel that grew on us.
Hi this was our first time to Mexico and the R.V. after travelling from Bristol to Manchester the day before our flight, we checked in ,met up with our friends then off we fly. Arrived at R.V quick check-in. We were in 1007 which was a walk around the corner from reception, and sports bar. The room was great (overlooking gardens of private property,) and the staff pathway who we waved to each time they passed. Had a look around and our friends ,that had been there last year, were amazed at the changes that had been done in 3 months. Buffet ..you could find anything from roasts, pizza,Chinese, and Italian. Plenty of dessert..cake ,icecream, fruit, and cheese and crackers. I'd defy anyone who says they couldn't find anything to eat. This applies to breakfast too.the cornflakes were the best (must of been Kellogs) . Tried the Steakhouse once this was OK and the Italian good too but prefered the Buffet ,personal choice. The beach just a short walk from main building and this was beautiful. You could walk for miles along it but we just walked to sister hotel Riu Jalisco, you could drink here as still part of A.I .Can watch the Lizards slowly stroll about too. Thursday pm is foam party time and good fun, Swim-up bar could get a bit rowdy but you have to let your hair down now and again right? You get beach sellers and you can barter but they don't bother you too much. Go to Bucerias here you can have a bit of fun bartering, it's like a market but with open front shops. There's also a little bar off one of the side streets, that's right beside the beach, you pay but it's a lovely setting. My only complaint about the hotel is there is no lights on the steps behind little gift shop, and too many steps in general (the lifts should at least get to restaurants area) We managed only because I had a small torch in bags for emergencies as my husband being partially sighted. All in all this hotel grew on us so much we'll probably be back next year once covid-19 has ran it's course.
5th time at this hotel and the smoking problems just seem to get worse every year. Allowing smoking on balconies is just wrong. That should be your own personal space with out worry about pollution and odor following you into room every time you open patio door. Courtyard smoking has a way of drifting in to the buffet seating area, Sad to see the beach restaurant gone and replaced with":The Steak House" attached to the buffet seating area. Terrible atmosphere as well as food !! While buffet large, just not the quality that used to be there. Italian was very good! Birds at breakfast and lunch at the outside seating area still a huge problem Nice wicker furniture always covered in bird droppings. Have to be so careful where you sit.
A Great Place to Visit
We had never ventured to Mexico before and this was also our first time staying at an all-inclusive resort. We really enjoyed our stay here. The pros: This resort is located on a great beach! You can walk both ways for miles! The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. We sat in the same area numerous times at breakfast and the waitress in our section was absolutely a sweetie! She remembered what we wanted to drink after sitting there once, and was always cheerful and friendly. The resort had just been renovated not long ago, it looked great, and everything was kept very clean. The food was very good, way better than I expected it to be as I had heard that generally food at an all-inclusive can be pretty bland. The main buffet was extensive, and there was so much variety! There were also 4 other restaurants on premise. We tried all of them and the only one we didn’t enjoy quite as much as the others was the Steakhouse. There were also numerous bars and some of them had food/snacks available. There were lots of activities to participate in if you wanted to. The bands and entertainment they had at night was enjoyable and the singers, actors, and dancers were very talented. Our room was spacious and comfortable. It came well stocked with water, drinks, a shampoo/body wash combo, and hairdryer. The bed was great! The view from our balcony was outstanding and we saw whales and dolphins a few times from there. Even though we had read that free wifi was only available in the lobby, that must have changed since the renovation because we were allowed wifi for 2 devices in our room! The cons: It can be quite noisy here, so if you want a quiet vacation, it might be a bit of a challenge here. There is always something going on and often with loud music to accompany the activity, which is great for families with kids or people wanting lots of activity. The biggest con....Smoking was allowed pretty well everywhere and Is a problem for me as I have allergies. The smoke irritates my air passages and also gives me splitting headaches. Depending on my health this could be a deal breaker when considering this resort again and is the reason I am giving it a 4 star instead of a 5 star.
This is our first time in Riu Vallarta but third time at the Riu hotels chain and we never get disappointed. Everything in this hotel was perfect, great food, clean pools, clean beach, great entertainment day & night. The size of our room was great. First night in our room the drain in the shower was really slow, called front desk and they sent a guys to fix it right way. Great service! Just couple things to improve in this hotel, Steak house restaurant wasn’t good at all, super slow service and not good food. Also the cleanliness of the room, I could see they cleaned the room everyday but did a poor job. (Yes we left a tip everyday and tried to keep it tidy to make it easier to clean) Overall this is a place to have a good time!
