Great resort
Enjoyed everything, good service, clean, I stayed at the other two Riu's in the area in the past this one was better than Riu Jalisco.

Great Stay!
My mom and I recently stayed at the Riu Vallarta. Pros CLEAN! This resort is immaculate. Housekeeping was great. Our room was spotless as well as the rest of the resort. Front desk staff are great. Very helpful. Service was great at all restaurants. Food was very good. There were some things that we didn't like but it didn't matter as there were so many options. Lots of seating options. We never had trouble finding a table, or beach lounger. Cons Pool was a little too warm but it was super humid so they probably have a hard time keeping it cool. Entertainment was ok. Would have like more live solo artists. A lot was geared towards kids. One bartender at the swim-up pool was little grumpy. He would ignore me every time. I would stand there forever and while he served other guests that came after me. I tip every time so not sure what this was about. It was obvious enough that other guests started to notice I wasn't being served. I ended up getting out of the pool and going to a different bartender. All in all - it was a great trip and I would stay here again.

not bad.. average resort definately not 5 stars resort.
pool : every pool water temperature is very hot except kids pool. food : il gusto and buffet are the only two i could eat without complaints. buffet has short staff. they hardly came to us to serve. programs/events: organized and event staffs are very active and fun. they have kids program everyday... amazaing programs for family. room : clean but its old i had to fix myself to flush the toilet. water pressureis very low and no cold water comes out. only hot water... location : not bad but far from pv downtown. [take uber!!!] internet : on and off at certain area but works great. staff : very freindly staff! they never beg for tips. great staff beach : great but there is only 2 shower heads far each other for rinse the sand off.

Rude Customer service.
I stayed here. It’s a decent hotel. Everything was fine until I returned to the hotel to find myself locked out of them. According to the front desk person. We were locked out because we had a pending charge of $150 due to room damage. We had no idea. Btw the room damage was that my friend had gotten sick and soiled some sheets. Which I reported to housekeeping during our curtesy call. After being let in our room. I found a note saying that we needed to report to customer service. (How would I know to do that if I’m locked out if the room). The next day I attempted to speak to the lady at customer service. She signaled a young man who ambushed us. He accused us of being novice travelers and of not reporting the spoiled sheets. He was very rude. When I complained that we were being treated like criminals because of a communication error on their end, I was told that if I felt that way, it was my fault. Nothing he had done. All of this was very disappointing. We stayed at the RIU in Costa Rica last year. Had a blast. Thought it would the same this year. What’s most distressing is that when my niece did a review and mentioned the incident, RIU pretty much called her a liar. Which is why we will not stay at any RIU. Btw. I’ve traveled in Europe, Caribbean, Canada and several US States. Never been treated like this.
