    Brilliant hotel

This is a well-run hotel, thoroughly enjoyed the two weeks we stayed there. The staff were very friendly and efficient, always seemed to be cleaning both inside and outside. The room was spacious with plenty of draw space, which is not present in a lot of hotels, and a safe included. There were 2 double-size beds in the room neither had the usual quilt which was fine by us as we find them too warm. The fridge was filled with a variety of drinks and there was a 4-bottle drink dispenser in the room. On my birthday balloons were hung on the furniture and a fridge magnet left in our room. The hotel is a large complex, not one building, ours was a block of 16 rooms on two floors, there was no lift but we had requested a ground floor room and that was what we got. There was plenty of spaces between blocks with lawns and trees. There were loads of Coatis scurrying, also saw a couple of Agoutis and an Iguana. There were a few swimming pools. I don’t know how full the hotel was but there was no problem getting sunbeds and there was plenty of shade available with some under a framework with retractable concertinaed covering and others with the usual umbrellas. These sunbeds were so close together it was hard getting between them. The trees around the pools meant the sun wasn’t on them until well after sunrise and was lost again well before sunset. Unfortunately, the weather up to our arrival and for a few days afterwards was uncharacteristically cool and the pool was cold, it did warm up for the second week. A nice touch was the drinks cart that circulated round the pools. There were 3 À-la carte restaurants available with no restrictions on how many times you went; we tried all 3 but we weren’t really impressed with the steak bar but the Asian and Italian were fine so we went there a couple of times. The main buffet restaurant had a huge variety of foods on offer, in general well marked up. The coffee served up by the staff at breakfast the first couple of days was not to our liking so for the rest of the holiday we had Cappuccinos dispensed from a machine which was acceptable. At meal times the fruit variety was a bit limited, loads of varieties of Melon and some bananas but not many other fruit. Prosecco was available at meal times which is not so in many other hotels There were no restrictions on drinks at the bar and my wife did like their version of a Pina Colada which has not been the case at a lot of other hotels. There were plenty of activities on during the day, mainly around one of the pools and the entertainment staff would come round to encourage you to join in; I stuck to table tennis and Boules but the later was not played to the conventional rules but was still enjoyable. The evening entertainment wasn’t up to much but it did pass the time. Must admit the Tina Turner and Stevie Wonder sketches in one of the shows was really good (and funny), also the ABBA night.

Reception staff were fast , efficient and friendly upon arrival, check in excellent and clear directions given to our room , our luggage arrived at our room within minutes . The restaurant staff are excellent, they are friendly, polite, and give exceptional customer service, especially Abelardo , and Andy they go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need ., the food is excellent . A very special mention to Leo the restaurant manager, such a wonderful restaurant manager, kind , caring, and made us feel very special , exceptional people skills from an incredible man . Bedrooms are beautiful, excellent standard of cleanliness, and the staff that service the rooms are awesome, love the towel displays so cute and a wonderful gesture. Finally thank you to David the hotel manager, a very kind , polite and courteous gentleman, you can talk to him about anything and such an awesome efficient guy great at his job , he runs the hotel with exceptional customer service, and to a very high standard, all the staff in the hotel are a credit to him . Our go to resort in Playa Del Carmen

I want to preface my review by saying we love this resort. People are friendly, food is good. This is our third time here. But…I noticed that when people are incredibly drunk, it takes them a long time to get them out of the pool bar. I think security needs to be on hand as some people are drunk by 1pm. On more than one occasion we were witness to this and it ruins other people’s fun. The “no saving sun beds” rule is also not enforced. We’re here at the resort right now and there is a group of six that save 6 beds at the front row of the pool bar but are all at another pool using 6 beds. And it’s been everyday. It’s not fair to other guests. Smoking areas are also not enforced which is disappointing. Other than those things, we really like it here but I do feel these issues should be addressed for the enjoyment of all guests.
