Best hotel ever! 10/10
I was so skeptical after reading the negative reviews but I couldn’t cancel because it was already booked and I’m so glad that I couldn’t cancel because It was so amazing!!!! There was about 9 different restaurants to choose from with a variety of different options and the food was 10/10 each time. There were so many pools and bars all over the resort whether you wanted some quiet or with music and the beach is literally a 2 minute walk which was clean and sandy. The entertainment was 10/10 there was live music and stage performances. I went to the all pink party which was a blast unfortunately i couldn’t go to the jungle party because i had saona island booked. I had no complaints with my room only the room keys needed changing a few times. There were so many places around the resort to take nice pictures. Overall excellent I didn’t want to leave!!

Trashy Resort – Literally and Figuratively
From the moment we arrived, the staff tried to upsell us on “free” room upgrades in exchange for a tip. It was pushy and unprofessional, and it set the tone for a truly disappointing stay. The food was terrible—most of it was inedible, and flies were constantly swarming the buffet. Nothing we tried was actually good, which is shocking for a so-called 5-star resort. We ended up skipping meals or leaving the resort to find decent food. Our room was disgusting. The safe was locked open and unusable, the TV didn’t work, and even after multiple formal requests, no one ever came to fix anything. The only positive was housekeeping reliably providing fresh towels. The beach was filthy and clearly not maintained. Trash was scattered everywhere, and we actually watched a man cut his foot on broken glass in the sand. Completely unacceptable. The atmosphere felt like a beached Carnival cruise—loud, chaotic, and trashy. Party vibes everywhere, with blaring music and yelling late into the night. If you’re hoping for a relaxing getaway, this isn’t it. And somehow, at an all-inclusive resort, they still charge you to play air hockey or pool. Just another example of how cheap and poorly managed this place really is. Riu Republica was a huge letdown. Between the awful food, broken room amenities, dirty beach, and constant upselling, this place is nowhere near 5-star quality. I wouldn’t stay here again, and I strongly recommend others look elsewhere

Nice vacation
It was very nice vacation We stayed for two weeks and enjoyed it. The landscaping is gorgeous, the room is clean and functional. The buffet has a lot of to choose from - fresh fruits and veggies, fish, chicken, duck, meat… The food in buffet was much better this year. We are the beach lovers and we wish they clean the beach. The sand is getting dirty- garbage, cigarette buts, debris. They not not cleaning at all. Few years ago it was beautiful white sand. Very sad to see it now

Whatever vibe you want, it’s here!
Great resort especially a partying is your vibe. Very large resort so even if you aren’t wanting to or need a break from the party, the backside is pretty quiet. Lots of young people from all over the world blowing off some steam and having great fun at pools, etc. Buffet was never super busy and always has a fair amount of people watching entertainment, as well as plenty of varied taste for culinary connoisseur. Room service is fantastic, our room was incredibly awesomely blessed with wonderful air-conditioning. A bunch of different pools with different vibes so you can have the kind of day that you want. Bring extra small denominations for tipping as it seems to go a long way with the staff. Checking out of the hotel is the only downside. It’s very organized, but not very well communicated. You have to proactively ask where your shuttle is which means you could easily miss your ride to the airport! Other than that, fantastic Stay and fantastic staff for a long weekend.

Great time!
Very nice resort. A little older but well maintained and clean. Anyone with AC complaints, note the slider doors have to be closed tight for the AC to turn on. There are sensors. The buffet food was great! The Japanese restaurant was not bad but nothing amazing. The sushi was very good! Edwaul our waiter in the Buffet and Sanot the poolside bartender really made our trip memorable. I would recomment this location and will be back.
