Horrible maintenance/ no English speaking employees
I unfortunately was sold on this resort off tiktok. I was excited to go knowing it was a party resort after staying at RIU in Mexico and Jamaica with no issues. We stayed 5 days and changed rooms 3 times. Which did not help with the issues. The first room was extremely dirty, room 2 shower did not work. Room 3 toilet did not work.which did not get fixed until the day before we left. Unable to receive proper help since no management spoke English. The only positive was the parties and jerk chicken but I would not stay here again for free

Worst experience so far...
Unfortunately, had the worst experience my husband and I have had traveling. Our mistake for not checking that this was a "party" hotel, we acknowledge that. However, from beginning to end, not a positive experience. We arrived at the hotel and were pretty much forced to leave our luggage with the bellman, even when we did not need help... There was a wait for check-in and the front desk agents were not attentive at all. We asked for a quiet room and were assigned on the side that seemed quieter, away from the beach but right next to the stairs and elevators. Once in our room, the AC and the fan were extremely noisy, so we had to turn them off to be able to sleep and we could still hear the fridge and anyone going back to their rooms after having a party... late at night. The beds and pillows were smelly, it was disgusting. You could smell sweat. We asked to have the sheets changed; it took a couple of requests to get them changed. We felt on high alert when coming back to the room, not being able to have the basic need of cleanliness, safety and hygiene met. We asked for extra pillows three times to different people, never received them. I unfortunately got sick after eating at one of the venues and we did not feel comfortable eating there anymore, which defeats the purpose of staying at an "all inclusive". We witnessed cooks grabbing tips with their hands, and then grabbing bread... Also, at the bar grabbing plastic cups and rinsing them at the pool before reusing them again... We had 6 nights booked, managed to stay through 3 and left. Towels at the pool, during those three days, no towels were available. We heard another guest complain about the same issue. You were told "30 minutes", but in reality, no towels came. When we checked out early, long wait, my husband wanted to drop the keys for us to leave and was told he had to wait to get an "exit pass", it did not make sense! Then I tried to have someone cut the wristband from my hand and was told I had to wait in line again... no worries, we left. The only thing I can say we kind of enjoyed was the show by one of the pools a female and male singer. Also, at the gift shop, longest process for check-out, they were handwriting out each item you bought and then charging you. Will not be back, will not recommend. Hopefully we will be able to get some sort of refund...

Great Stay Overall
Great food selection and service on resort and great location! The groups of young kids taking advantage of lower drinking age in the DR need greater supervision - that is my only negative concern.

Never Going Back
I stayed at Riu Republica in Punta Cana from July 10–14, 2025, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst resort experiences I’ve had. The resort looks nothing like the photos. It’s extremely outdated and poorly maintained. Our shower was dirty upon arrival, and despite making multiple cleaning requests through the RIU app, it wasn’t cleaned until the day before we left. The WiFi was a nightmare—my phone wouldn’t connect to the free version, and when a concierge suggested I purchase the upgraded WiFi, I did—and it still didn’t work. I was still charged with no resolution. What made the stay even worse was the lack of cleanliness throughout the entire resort. The pools and restaurants were full of people smoking, which made relaxing or enjoying meals uncomfortable and unhealthy. The whole experience felt chaotic and far from the “adults-only paradise” the resort claims to be. This was not the relaxing getaway we were promised, and I would not recommend Riu Republica to anyone looking for a clean, well-run, or enjoyable all-inclusive resort.
