  Crazy Vibe

  We were at the RIU Republica on Feb. 2-12. Overall we had a good time. It was really windy so we could not enjoy the beach as much as we liked but we still walked everyday. There are enough pools and spaces to sit anywhere so no no need to get up early and save beach or pool chairs. This resort was too big for our liking. Our room was fine - we had king beds. Minibar was always stocked quickly when requested. Use the app. Our housekeeper did a very nice job. The buffets were adequate. Specialty restaurants were good but some were still buffet style like the Italian one. My favorite was the fusion restaurant. Now for what we didn’t care for- way too much noise at night when normal humans should be sleeping. We were woken up several times between 2 -5 AM over the course of 10 days . People shouting, arguing, fighting, throwing and breaking things in their room. Our friends called security but nothing was done. We are all for having fun but really? You have to act like an animal and howl? At one point I thought I was in the jungle. After the RIU parties we sat and watched folks return and many could barely walk. Wow- no sense of when to stop drinking apparently. I went into a restroom and a young girl was almost unconscious with her head in a sink bowl ill from drinking and whatever else she did. Not our vibe. We like to party and have a good time too but we know when to say when and we don’t appreciate people acting like animals. We won’t be back - just too much for us. Overall an OK time just not our vibe. PS we have been going to the Caribbean for 15 years so we have seen it all until this place.

  50th Birthday Trip

  Wish it was non-smoking and alittle more dancehall pop music in the club at night and better mixing of the drinks!

  Satisfied

  Overall I was very satisfied with our stay. Rooms were average but what stood out was the shower- I was pleased there was plenty of hot water, great water pressure, and it had a detachable shower head. I also appreciated that the hair dryer wasn’t the normal small hotel you normally find. Rooms were cleaned daily. The cleaners were very friendly! The food was ok, plenty to choose from and a variety of restaurants! The resort was large and very seemed overcrowded. Sleeping wasn’t great as guests were loud at all hours of the night but that’s not the resorts fault. The blackout curtains worked a little too well lol…never knew what time of day it was. The areas I thought this resort could be better was with the bartenders and variety of night entertainment. Most of the bartenders weren’t that friendly. There were a couple that were, most of the servers were great! They had different areas of entertainment however, they could do better- they have many bars that a few of them could be utilized better- for example have one with a jukebox to wear guests can choose the music- have it so the music is loud enough to enjoy but not so loud people can’t have conversations. I will admit, I am getting older so I don’t like the overly loud, crowded areas so I didn’t go to the disco. They have plenty of pools- again we don’t like the overly crowded and super loud so we didn’t hangout at the “party” pool but did hangout out at one of the others with a bar-it was fun but definitely could have used a little more energy- maybe a little more vacation vibe music and a tad louder. I felt like you either had to be into the super loud, crowded type party or into the quiet relaxed crowd- not much for those of us that are in between. We still had a great time-just feel there could be some small adjustments to make it better for those that like to have some fun but not wild lol. Most of the staff was helpful and friendly! I would definitely stay there again, would just probably do things a little differently and maybe be a little more prepared to entertain myself.

  PARTY AT RIU

  We went for our 25th wedding anniversary with party mentality. It did not disappoint all the parties were great the music was great the drinks kept coming. The resort is pretty but needs a little maintenance the food is ok not like the one in Mexico but it is fun

  Nice 4 star resort

  Overall great week! We enjoyed the pool activities, very sandy soft beach and the excursions offered felt safe and fun. The staff were friendly and quick to serve and there was never a huge wait for restaurants or bars. Some minor things was that when we checked in they gave us 2 single beds instead of a king or queen for a couple. We complained and they had no other rooms left for what we had picked. They offered us to change rooms the next day which was inconvenient. The second room the toilet kept running and there were no extras such as robes, slippers, lotion, makeup remover, no face cloths etc. it was a budget room for sure. The food was good at the buffet but the specialty restaurants were also buffet for Italian, Japanese etc. We were surprised as we were used to table service for these things. Their restaurant kulinarium was amazing! Bette than the steak house and no reservations needed. Steak house I waited in line for 45 mins and it was okay. Drinks were very strong with brand names and even had bottle service in the rooms. They would make difficult drinks like mojitos which I appreciated. Overall good trip but definitely more budget friendly than secrets for example.
