Lovely
The hotel was huge with plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. Suitable for all ages as all the pools, etc, had different vibes from bouncy to quiet/chilled. There was always something to do whether that be a walk along the beach watching the sunrise, chilling by the quiet pool, taking part in the activities hosted by staff or bouncing around at the pool parties. Only let down was the hotel room itself but for how long we actually spent in there it wasn’t worth complaining/moving rooms for. And sadly, the pacha club only played Spanish music all night.

Fantastic vacation
We brought our mother to the RIU Republica for 5 days, to celebrate her upcoming 80th birthday. Although, the rooms need to be updated, it was clean. The food was excellent and the staff was very helpful.

SAVE YOUR MONEY!! RUN!!
This resort has gone down hill since I've been here last. I will NEVER come back. This is no longer a 5 star hotel. Our bed was soaking wet every night from the humidity in the room. The shower was broken as well as the screen door. We only had 1 plug that worked in our room. The front desk took forever to respond , We called for an hour before they picked up the phone. It took them an additional 2 hours to bring us blankets. They were rude and took forever at check in, even though I checked in online. We stayed on the quiet side, (water park side) the pools were disgusting and played the same 6 songs on repeat! The pools by the ocean were dirty as well. Food and drinks were a 3/10 at best. The service we recieved at the restaurants were awful. The only good server we had was at the main buffet, so we ate there when he was working. The restaurants had terrible service and the host at the steak house was extremely rude to anyone who asked any questions. Please dont waste your money on this resort. There are so many actual 5 stars that would be better

Very good experience and would recommend to friends & family.
First vacationed here in 2017 when first opened and had a fantastic time. Fast forward to 2025 and it still delivers with a twist of party atmosphere and entertainment. Everything that we experienced was positive and no negative reviews. A slight glitch with our room on the first night (no A/C in our room), however this was quickly resolved after talking to our receptionist (Loly). Amazing member of the front desk staff. We did over hear a small number of people who were expressing some minor issues. My take on this is one of "Champagne taste on a beer budget".

Not recommended
I’ve stayed at several RIU hotels before and generally had a very positive impression of the RIU chain. However, this particular hotel is not recommendable at all. I was here around the same time last year with my best friend and was shocked by the hotel conditions upon arrival. I decided to return this year to celebrate my anniversary with my boyfriend, since we met here, and we wanted to give the place another chance. Unfortunately, it was in vain — nothing has improved. First of all, the clientele: there is now a mixed-age crowd, but about 90% of the guests come here solely to drink excessively. Because of that, you frequently find feces or vomit in the hallways or elsewhere — this week alone, I encountered it three times. Last year, someone had diarrhea in my hallway, and it was simply covered with a towel and left uncleaned for at least three hours. Combined with the heat, the smell was absolutely unbearable. While the hotel cannot control the behavior of its guests, I absolutely have to address the cleaning standards, hygiene, and overall cleanliness: the “party pool” is consistently extremely dirty. The rooms are not properly cleaned and were already not very clean upon arrival. I found hair, visible wipe marks, and makeup stains on the bedsheets. Even after two weeks here, with almost daily cleaning (on purpose, because I wanted to see whether it would ever be cleaned properly), the situation didn’t improve. The beach is beautiful but very dirty. There is trash and leftover food everywhere, which naturally attracts a lot of flies. The pool area is similar — especially around lunchtime after everyone has eaten the grilled chicken near the pool (which, to be fair, is very tasty). When it comes to the rest of the food offered at the resort, it’s honestly quite poor. They have a relatively large selection, buffets, and nine restaurants, but the quality leaves a lot to be desired. The food is presented without care, and I got food poisoning twice, despite not drinking tap water and avoiding washed vegetables, seafood, etc. My partner and my best friend also became sick, and we met several other guests who felt even worse. Far too many people need to be served at the same time, so the quality and perhaps even the food safety suffers — unfortunately at the guests’ expense. As the evening goes on, everything just gets dirtier, since many guests have zero manners, the staff can’t keep up, and chaos is left behind. I can highlight the parties — they are great, but only if you stay for a week. We stayed for two weeks, and after that long, the constantly repeating extremely loud music and poor sound quality just become unbearable. And I say this as a 26-year-old DJ. The shuttle service to the other RIU resort only runs twice for the parties; everything else has to be organized and paid for separately. The bartenders are fantastic and very hard-working. The service staff in the large buffet restaurant is mediocre. They clearly choose who they want to serve — some deliberately ignore you or focus on where they can get the most tips instead of simply bringing you a glass of water. To be fair, many of them are probably just overworked, doing 12-hour shifts. Still, as a guest, it is extremely disappointing. For the price they charge, it is absolutely not worth it. In my opinion, RIU Republica does not deserve its 4/5 stars. If I can give one clear piece of advice: book the RIU Palace or one of the other RIU hotels here instead. It’s a shame, because I used to really enjoy staying at RIU hotels.
