Fun Time!
A group of us 5 ladies came to celebrate a birthday. Our ages from mid-30’s to mid-60’s. We had a few hiccups but still had a good time. My check in was quick & smooth. My friend’s check in was a 1.5 hour messy ordeal. She booked online and paid with a virtual card. When she checked in, they wanted to see the physical card. It’s virtual therefore there is no physical card! What they cannot understand about this I do not know. She even provided her passport and another form of ID showing that she was the person on the reservation. They were being very extremely difficult and not wanting to work with her. They ended up canceling her reservation. Luckily, one of us other girls had a credit card and was able to rebook her and pay for it again in full. And thankfully she got a refund on her virtual card the next day. But, to the resort, do not accept virtual cards if you’re going to demand a physical card to be present upon check-in. Our rooms were at the back of resort by water slides. It’s a little bit of a walk (maybe 6-7 minutes) from there to the beach but we didn’t mind. The rooms are dated but clean & comfy. I had no issues with my room. There were a ton of mosquitos hanging out on my patio door so I never opened the patio. I rarely get bit by mosquitoes, but I did get a few bites at this resort. Definitely bring mosquito repellent. Only saw the cats a few times, but they are sweet. I wish there was a way to get them to a vet to be at least be spayed and neutered. All the pools were busy except the big square pool to the left when you walk to the beach. We spent most of our time in the party pool by the beach. The bartenders were a lot of fun. Didn’t see much of an entertainment crew. I will say, when people leave to go to the day party at the other resort, they stopped playing music at the party pool. It doesn’t make any sense. Why would you not just continue some music there for people that don’t want to go to the other resort? Luckily a few people had speakers but then it was like a music war on who could play the loudest and it was just a messy mix of all kinds of music. I didn’t go to the beach so I can’t speak on that. I did try the jerk chicken and I was not impressed. But, my friends loved it. Ate breakfast/lunch at the smaller buffet at the back of the resort each day. I thought it had a decent selection and was fresh and good. We had dinner one night at the large buffet towards the front of the resort and I actually enjoyed that one too. Huge selection. We also enjoyed the restaurant, I forgot the name, behind the lobby. The club was OK but the bartenders were a lot of fun. They do need to switch up the music. It was pretty terrible most nights. The sports bar was a good late night/after club hang out. Although, being there is no music at that time, they should allow people to play music on their phone or set up a system to play some type of music in the late hours. The sports bar food was horrible. I’m not a foodie and I’m not picky so when I say it’s horrible it’s horrible. One more thing, we were told that we did not need a reservation for the steak restaurant. They said that if we just showed up and it wasn’t busy, they would seat us. And we did just that. We got there at 8:15p and there was really nobody there. They told us they could not seat us without a reservation and we explained to them that we were told we didn’t need it. He was very adamant about a reservation and said that they were full and we pointed out to him that the restaurant was not busy at all and he said “well the reservations were still coming” and we said “you close in 45 minutes so is everyone coming at once?” He was so full of it. Rude too. To sum it all up, yes we had our hiccups and yes the resort could be updated and a few of the staff could learn better customer service but all in all, we had fun. Would we return? I don’t know. It’s a long flight but you never know. (Oh, and we never once felt unsafe there.)
