I should have done my research before booking at Riu Republica. *** Avoid! If you're over 30-35 and looking for a luxurious clean and quiet 5 stars resort experience*** If you're looking for a crowd of young crazy wild people to party with, this place is for you. Atmosphere felt like being at a college frad party! During our 7 days stay. Be prepare to witness some crazy stuff. Our first morning set the tone for the week. After a miserable night of sleep ( AC didn't work and people were yelling and partying in the corridors at 3am) As we went out of our room, we saw a puddle of blood at the button of the stair case with blood on the wall.... Took 2 days before someone from the hotel clean it and repaint the wall. The site is Filthy... People literally throwing carbage cans into the inner garden, broken glass. Leftover food everywhere. We saw many Cockroach, some chunky one too! Drunk people are everywhere some are funny to watch but others kind get annoying. Vomiting at the buffet. Someone at the dinning buffet who was just Yelling, dancing on the table and dropped is pants infront of everyone. A lady twerking on her knees at the pool bar table. I can go on.... Everyday, one of the pools was closed because of unknowns reason. But we could see that the water was cloudy.... I really have sympathy for the employees who's working there. Most of them are really kind, but you can tell they're overwhelmed by the works caused by bad behavior of guess. This place is understaff vs the numbers of people (and their wild behavior) Food was ok. Same food at the buffet. Don't expect variety/thematic food. Same thing was served during the whole week. No reservations needed for restaurants but don't expect to have a table available when you go. The beach is loaded with chairs. The beach is cleaned by only one staff member (poor man) again the Beach is not scrap. All chicken bones from the famous snack Jerky Chicken lay's over. (Chickens is good though) Cigarettes buns are everywhere. Good thing about this, party animals tend to sleep late. So we didn't have to woke up early to get a good spot at the beach. Our highlight was the the day we check-out.... Sorry Riu, but it was our first and last time in your hotel chain. This zoo was too much and set the expectations we now have of your brand.

Claims to be a 5 star hotel but I would say borderline 3. The hotel isn’t clean and the food is very poor. It’s basically a spring break hotel which is fine if you know that’s what you’re getting. The staff lack basic customer service and other than a handful of staff the majority are borderline rude and lazy. Guests are up all night and the noise is so loud zero consideration for others. If it wasn’t for the weather I would have seen if we could fly home or move hotels. Do not book if you think you are getting a relaxing 5 star holiday quite the opposite.

Better than the reviews
The other reviews us worried lol. It was way better than expected. They did not have face towels but that was about it. The room was clean and nice. A/C worked well! The jerk chicken stand is amazing! I had it everyday I was there lol the quiet side buffet was the better one. The one near the beach was just okay.. the walk from the quite side to the beach was long tho 🙃

Beautiful resort
This is a beautiful resort but we complained about the TV several times and it was never fixed. Not a big deal since we don't watch much TV on vacation. Also our friends toilet was not working properly and they ended up fixing it themselves. I think maintenance needs to do a better job.
