Overall good time.
All the restaurants were amazing except for the steakhouse. Had to wait for an hour to make a reservation (530-630)and when we ate (830) the place was half empty and the food was awful. The jerk chicken was a daily visit and worth every bit. It took a day to find my drink (mariachi) due to the juices being watered down but once I found my drink it was on and popping. A waitress named Yoka took care of our group whenever she saw us and she was great. Jose with Amstar hooked us up with great excursions we even could call him if needed, which we did. The rooms had a funny smell and the floors always seemed wet from the humidity but I was barely in the room, only to sleep. I was there for a birthday celebration and we had a good time. I would definitely recommend Punta Canta as a place to visit.

Wife's 70th Birthday
The Riu Republica is a very Lively and Active Resort. The entire facility was very clean. The check-in was effortless and the facility staff were very polite, professional, and attentive. The Resort House Keeping staff were very accommodating and responded in a timely manner to all our request for services. The only negative we experienced was on the morning of my wife's birthday at breakfast, when three servers completely ignored my wife and I for approximately 45 minutes while attending to other guest seated at three tables surrounding ours. After bringing this to the attention of their supervisors with no satisfactory resolution we requested to speak with Resort Management. We spoke with Resort Assistance Manager Javier Calviche who was very attentive, polite, and professional. He listened to our compliant, asked questions about our encounter, and asked was there a particular compensation we were seeking and how could the matter be resolved to our satisfaction. I advised him we were not seeking any kind of compensation, and wanted him to understand how this made us feel. I'll just say this in closing..........Javier is an asset to the Riu Republica Resort and made us feel he heard us, saw us, and respected and we walked away feeling made whole again!!

More than adequate
The food was better than expected and really liked that the nicer spots had a no swimwear policy. The drinks were ok, and the right pick of beach drinks, but made differently depending on which bar you went to. The beach area was nice with a lot of natural shade instead of umbrellas.

Average hotel
This was a last minute booking. Room was average. Food was okay, not great. Lots of rude people that have no buffet etiquette. Pools were good, lots of available chairs.

Fifth trip staying in Punta Cana at The RIU Republica, always a great time. Food excellant, staff very kind and friendly. Grounds immaculate as always. Adults only atmosphere. Plenty of entertainment, Great pools, short walk to the beach area. Getting ready for net year!
