Well done Rui! Terrific here.
Has it all, quiet, life, parties, slides etc. It is tired in places but this resort is huge. Something for everyone. We are here at the moment to celebrate our daughters 21st Birthday for the 26th. We are in rooms 2301 and 2303. We are having a ball. Dont listen to negatives it is open to interpretation. The beach is stunning and amazing turquoise waters. We would love to see her have a celebration ie a bottle of something in room 2303 so we will see, we leave 15th. The is one hotel ill come back too, we are making amazing memories. Tips chose rooms in blocks 2, 3 , or 4 for quiet at night. You don't need to book the restaurants like other Rui's. The staff are exceptional, the atmosphere. Jerk Chicken from the beach/bottom pool bar, wow. We love it here. Thanks again Rui, as well as Tui Holiday.....ps the entertainment is also good here unlike other Rui's. This resort is huge....

Save yourself the grief, stay somewhere else
This is the third time I have been a guest at Riu Republica and it will be the last. In 2019 and 2020 this was a great place to stay but not anymore. When we arrived we were told that the upgraded room we had paid for was not available, so we were supposed to take a lesser room for one night and then move to another room the next night. There was no mention of any kind of credit and when I said something about the value of the room the front desk clerk walked off for a few minutes and came back to say that we could have the upgraded room afterall. The air conditioning did not work. For our entire 5 day stay there was only one elevator that worked part time, the rest of the time there were no elevators. this lead to quite a bit of time walking from one side of the resort to the other and back again since the only working elevator was clear on the other side. The poor porters were stuck going up and down four flights of stairs with peoples luggage all day long. I felt so bad for them. There was only one working outlet in our room even the USB ports for charging did not work. When I tried to call the front desk to report a problem no one answered. When I went to the front desk to report a problem I was given the run around. Three different reasons for the elevators not working, it was so clear that they were lying and just trying to make me go away. The staff in the restaurants do not speak english and are rude and neglectful. Food is left under heat lamps so long it was crunchy. The only exception to this is the staff at the outdoor seating for the buffet. They were friendly and always smiling. All of the guests I spoke to were all having the same problems. The difference in quality and service between this trip and my previous trips is night and day. RIU should be ashamed of themselves for treating their guests this way. I would be ashamed to put my name on such a poorly run facility!! Please don't take this the wrong way, the Dominican Republic is still a wonderful place to go. We had wonderful experiences with Amstar and all of their reps. Our day at Adventureland park was amazing, the staff was friendly and helpful and were careful of everyone's safety. We also had a great time at the Marinarium Reef. It was a ton of fun to feed the fish and swim with stingrays and sharks. The staff there was great, we had fun learning how to play dominos!! Here also everyone was careful of safety and very outgoing and helpful. A day spent shopping at Don Lucas Cigars was very informative. They introduce you to the cigar makers and show you the whole process of making cigars by hand!! There is also a jewelry shop, a coffee shop (where they roast their own beans!!), a chocolate shop and my favorite a rum shop right there on the same property. Its lovely to learn how all these items are made and the staff of all the shops are very knowledgeable and happy to share that knowledge with you. I will absolutely visit the Dominican Republic again, I just won't stay at a RIU resort again.

Great resort great weather
Great resort clean rooms comfortable beds. Food is average but good price for middle of the road resorts. Bartenders and drinks are great. Lots of great people from all over. Riu app has everything at your fingertips if you need anything you can click on the app and get it resolved. Had problem with toilet they came in 20 minutes and fixed. This is an all adult so was great. Water slides were a blast

Dominican Republica
Accommodation and service was top notch. Franceska at reception was very accommodating to our special request. Entertainment was also good with the parties; White, Pink, Jungle and Beach. Gym facilities were good and if timed right not too busy. Food and drink was grand with Frozen Margarita a personal favourite and we tried the Espresso Martini very late otherwise that may have also jostled for position as #1 cocktail. Now a Prosecco convert too if a break was needed from cocktails. Beach was epic and loved the waves which didn't struggle to reach 10ft tall and over, great for fighting with or diving through. Unlike other resorts taxi is needed to get to anything off resort. All in all we went for some R&R and we got it, especially on Saona Island boat trip which was a great excursion and we had a full 12 dolphin escort back to the mainland which was an unexpected treat.
