Americans: Stay away, they don't like us

Stay away from this place. They are not a 5 star resort. They might have been at one point in time, but not anymore. Where do I begin, the food is terrible. Worst than a junior high cafeteria. I got food poisoning, which made my week so much fun. After talking with several other guests, this was a common theme. The room, nothing really worked. Fire alarm had two bright lights that kept us up until we fixed the problem ourselves by covering it up with towels and duct tape. T.V didn't work, the temperature in the shower would go from cold to lava hot no matter where you had it set to. Yes we contacted management, and no, it didn't get fixed. Don't bother trying to call the front desk, they never pick up the phone. No wash clothes, like what, no wash clothes. Pillows are ridiculous, ask for at least 3 more immediately when you check in. Can't control the temperature of your room either. You get a nice 80 degree room. Wrist band, don't loose it. They'll try to charge you an additional $200 for it. Mine broke and we went to the front desk to fix the problem. The manager,Angelo, we disrespectful towards my wife and myself. He cursed me and told me that I will charge me the $200 for the lost id. I didn't lose it, it was in my hand, it was broken. He cursed me one more time and I got a new id, at no charge. We informed the higher ups, but nothing happened. It's a party resort for 18-25 year olds. Loud, drunk people yelling in the hallways at 3 in the morning. The gym is ridiculously small for such a larger resort. The employees were rude and disrespectful. A few positives: Helen in the bar on the beach: she was great, kind, and helpful. The entire staff at the Koleniarium East (the one with the pumpkin soup), they were awesome. The best in the resort. Everyone treated us like garbage, but, after several converstations with other guests, it was a common theme. Stay away from this resort. The beach is beautiful, but not worth the horrible experience.

Definitely not a 4-5 star resort!

Mold and moisture in the room is a HUGE problem. I hate leaving this type of review because beyond the rooms themselves this resort is fun. The hotel is desperately in need of renovations and the rooms are awful. I wouldn't recommend this resort to anyone.

    Don’t go here

Definitely not even a 3 star hotel! Staying here currently. If I could fly out of here or change my hotel I would. Staff not friendly, food awful overcooked bad selection I am not picky. Filthy beach over crowded not picked up. Rooms outdated NEVER staying here again and rethinking RIU hotels in general. BIG MISTAKE - don’t waste your hard earned money or time.

A Mixed Experience: Honest Review of Riu Republic

Here's a revised version of your review with improved grammar, punctuation, and clarity while retaining specific details: --- My husband and I, along with four friends (a couple and two singles), visited this resort knowing it was a party destination, which we were excited about. Check-in was smooth, and they arranged for our rooms to be close to each other, although I'm not sure about the promised upgrades. Room 1248 was conveniently located near the main buffet and beach, which was a plus given the resort's size. The rooms were standard and clean, with a stocked bar and basic amenities. However, the pillows were uncomfortable, and the mattress was too firm for my liking. The buffet offered a decent selection, but some dishes were underwhelming, and there was an abundance of pork, which might not suit everyone's tastes. A highlight was the jerk chicken stand by the beach—a must-try for its flavorful chicken, albeit with a bit of heat. The resort's restaurants are buffet-style, with varying quality. The Asian restaurant stood out, while the steakhouse had good food but was uncomfortably hot. The Kulinarium restaurant, though, offered a classy experience with delicious dishes like pumpkin soup and unique cocoa-based chocolate. The beach was nice, with ample seating and drink services. The staff were friendly and accommodating, although not as impressive as in some other destinations. We enjoyed the Jungle party off-site, a lively event with free booze and great music. The on-site disco was okay but lacked a standout DJ. Night shows were average, with occasional musical performances that were hit or miss. The sports bar, open 24/7, provided snacks and drinks, although the food wasn't remarkable. Shopping options on the resort were limited and pricey, and there was no on-site ATM. The spa experience was fantastic, with relaxing massages worth the money. Check-out was straightforward and standard. Overall, the resort offers a mixed experience with some highlights and areas for improvement, making it suitable for those seeking a lively atmosphere but with some compromises in amenities and dining options.
