Been here 3 times, love it
I have been here 3 times, and we continue to have fun every time. We are a group in our 20s however, there is so much to do for everyone. There’s numerous pools that all have a different “vibe” to them ranging from quiet/relaxing to rowdy. Yuma is the BEST bartender. All waiters/waitresses are so much fun and it shows that they love their job. We had so much fun with Esteban and Ramon from Mangu buffet. The drinks are pretty good, could be stronger but it’s an all inclusive so that’s expected! You could always get an extra shot on the side :). The rooms are okay, beds aren’t super comfy and pillows are very thin, but for me I was willing to sacrifice this for everything else. If entertainment is important to you, I would def recommend. Great shows every night including acrobat and michael jackson shows, as well as pool parties at another RIU resort from 3p-7p on wednesday and fridays where transportation is free…and the party STARTS on the bus. Also wednesday a neon or white party st the resort at night which is so much fun, and a Beach party every sunday night. Food had lots of variety, again hit or miss but I am vegetarian and found so many items at every meal. The waterpark is awesome, if you’re into a thrill. Overall, the resort is very inexpensive compared to other resorts however it certainly does not lack in the entertainment department, food variety and quality of staff. There are plenty of age groups ranging from 20s (like myself) to upper 60s/70s and definitely something for everyone!!
6 of us stayed here 2nd-12 Feb. Check in was a bit busy but we didn't have to wait too long to be seen. We were all on 4th floor but my fiancé & I had an issue trying to get in our room because when we put the key card in, it wasn't registering it so we were moved to the 3rd floor. The room was nice, spacious. Enjoyed the Gin a couple of times too whioe gwtting ready on a nght time🍸 Beds were a decent size too. Was a bit disappointed there was no Tea options, only coffee but we got a cup of tea at breakfast. I had downloaded the RIU app and used this to put a request through for our room to be cleaned, new towels etc as I had missed them 1 day and everything was spot on. There are a number of pools to choose from if you don't want to sit at the party pool and prefer peace and quiet. Some of our group joined in the activities (darts, aqua fit etc) which were good fun. There is a lot of choice for food at the buffet restaurant, LA Altagracia. We attended both Steak restaurants which you have to make a reservation for from 6pm, and found the 1st one we went to (next to LA Altagracia) was the better one - The staff were friendly & fun. The jerk chicken was delicious as well. Good entertainment on the night times, shows and karoake as well. We attended the White Party (at this hotel) and the Pink Party (at a different RIU hotel), good fun!! It was a bit noisy sometimes on a night time with people coming back to their rooms but didn't disturb us too much. Check out was very quick as well. The staff do an amazing job and could t fault them Would definitely go back.
Not worth the money anymore . Customer loyalty doesnt exist anymore
This resort has changed the last few years . They dont care about customers loyalty . All riu cares about now is corporate greed. My flight was overbooked on the way back to canada and i took a taxi back to riu and they refused to let me in. They also refused me to pay to stay in my friends room. I will never in my life give them another dime . I been loyal with them since 2017 . The 7 days i stayed there was alright. The food is not as good as it used to be. Btw is if your a hookah smoker good luck smoking anywhere near the lobby . The security will harass everyday and ask you to go to the beach
Food poisoning & a terrible room
This is definitely not a 5 star resort. The room didn’t look like it was cleaned properly, the sliding door to the balcony didn’t have a lock & the pillows had a nasty sour smell. I asked housekeeping to change the sheets, she didn’t. She made the bed with the same sheets and smelly pillows. Not to mention I got food poisoning and looking at other reviews I wasn’t the only one. On the bright side, most of the servers & bartenders were pleasant. The pools and beach were nice, if you could find a chair and the resort was huge, giving you plenty to see.
perfect birthday vacation week
My first time in Punta Cana, and we all had a wonderful time at Riu Republic. Smiling workers everywhere, good food, the french toast was my breakfast go to. The beach was beautiful and the grounds were exquisite, so many different types of palm trees.
