What happened!??
This was my second time at the RIU Republica. It will be an update to my review previous and first stay in 2023. I stayed from Nov 7- 15th 2025. On my return, again, none of my requests were fulfilled when online booking thru the RIU app. I am at gold status and this made me question my loyalty. I thought i would do it differently this time in person and tip at check-in, (I have family in tourism and tipping is everything). This proved nothing, as a matter of fact it made it worse. I came with an amstar personal driver and asked the same front desk person, where can I find my excursion person. He told me to find a certain guy that will take care of me. Come to find out it was a buddy of his and he was supposed to send me to my amstar rep Bryan. The process was horrible (TUI was the company, don't get me started lets just say they will milk you for all the cash tips and unknown reasons you will need to pay "extra"). The rooms looked nothing was taken care of since 2023 and I had issues with them back then! Plugs were blown out, USB pluggins barely heald a cord, you had to literally place something underneath you plug-in to keep it inside to get charged, the room smelled like mold I later got sick with, the rooms were ice cold when the AC was on, the shower leaked, and bugs....oh my bugs! There were these little black flies, mosquitoes and roaches that appeared. And do not tell me it's because of the climate I grew up in Hawaii and we handled it. The in-room safe did not work. I called twice to get it fixed, they sent an email that stated "we fixed it" and I responded, "No one has shown up and nothing is fixed" they then said they would forward it to their guest relations and they would get on it. I've now gone and left and it probably still hasn't been fixed. I will tell you this, your front line workers, your bartenders, maids, entertainers, masseuse and food services people are THE ONLY THING that keeps this place going. I was told that the hotel has been having alot of problems and is getting new management. Whatever happens this place needs to step up! I've stayed at multiple RIU's across the caribbean and Mexico....this was an atrocity.

Not the best
Problems started off from arrival, I was charged for the hotel even though the POS said my card was declined. I showed the receptionist my bank account where the transaction went through. My friend ended up using her card to pay and I was told to call my bank. Once our room was ready we grabbed our bag and headed upstairs. The main reason for me picking this resort FOR MY BIRTHDAY is because they're SUPPOSED to have alcohol in the rooms. The bottles were more than half way gone and we asked for refills on 3 to 4 different occasions. We finally got alcohol in the room the last night of our stay. House keeping opened drawers and went through our belongings and STOLE items from my friend. The sheets had stains NON of the outlets worked in the room. I found one outlet by the coffee maker, that I had to rig by leaning the coffee maker against my charger to make it stay in the wall. My friend and i had to share the one outlet/ charger through out the entire stay. We brought this problem up to the front desk and we were given two rubber bands to fix the problem (WHICH DIDNT WORK).Most of the food was disgusting. the service in the steak house and buffet area was a 10/10 experience. I would like to thank Martha, Montero, and Manuel for catering to our every need they are the best.
