  Holiday with Friends for a Birthda

  Not been to this Resort before, everything sounded great about it being a party hotel. I can say yes it is a party hotel, its a very large hotel with 2 sides, a quiet and the party side. The hotel was lovely with a great beach. Met some lovely bar staff and entertainment staff. Food - The Jerk Chicken shack near the beach entrance was absolutely amazing. The main large Buffet Restaurant was fantastic, it was best to go at 6pm for the evening when it starts, everything is freshly cooked and looks well presented, if you go about 7pm it can get busy and looks messy on the food. Lunchtime was great also. Asian Restaurant - This was one of my fave, i thought it was order from menu, but it was a buffet style, which was ok, Sushi was amazing, did try other things also. Again best go for 6pm. Italian Restaurant - This was my other fave one, again, same as the Asian, it was buffet style and it was great, best go at 6pm. Steak House (Main) - This one is next door to the main buffet, with this one, it was nice, you do order from the menu which was great. The only issue with this it wouldn't let us book in the app and we had to queue a good 30 mins before 6pm to try get a table on the night as they wasn't taking bookings for the next day, which wasn't great. The queue can get big. Their is another steak house but slightly smaller, but again same situation. American Diner - This was ok, nothing special and the food was okish. They had a few more restaurants which we didn't try, we loved the main buffet, Asian and Italian so we stuck with them. They do have another Buffet Restaurant, which is smaller, it was on the quieter side, which is where we stayed, that was nice is you didn't want to go to a busy one. Entertainment - We saw a few shows which was great and some wasn't. The Entertainment staff was great, they interact with the holiday makers which is good and they do try and get you to join in also. The one thing that was a big let down was the music, it was mainly Spanish, so it was hard to enjoy some of the entertainments when you don't understand it. Pool Games - They had, Bingo, Darts, Golf and some others, they wasnt bad, was just for fun to win a Riu Cap or Tshirt. (I won a Cap) Offsite Party - We went to the Pink Party at another Riu Hotel, it was ok, was a foam one too. Again, played a lot of Spanish, so only stayed just over an hour. Pool - plenty off pool to choose, from the quiet to the party side by the beach. 3 swim up bars also. Night Club - really didn't go in at all during my stay, I did pop in just to see what it was like, it was really cool inside, wasn't big and again music was the same. We just chilled on the balcony and put our own music on. They had Karaoke, again wasnt great as all Spanish again, did hear an American singing a Teddy Swim song, that's was great. So end result, would I stay at this hotel, I'll have to say No, as they don't seem to really entertain the English much and mainly just the Spanish. But if your not bothered then its fine. Hotel 9/10 Service (Cleaning) 10/10 Entertainment 6/10 Entertainment Staff 9/10 Food 9/10 (would be more if the others was great) Bar Staff 7/10 Room 9/10 Overall total 7/10 I did enjoy my time with my friends, even though the music n some entertainment was more towards the Spanish. Made some new friends from he UK also. So let see what the next RIU Hotel review brings.

  Inprovement for a a carte restaurant

  I have spent 10 days at Riu Republica . Everything has been great considering the value we spent. If we would prefer more luxury hotel , we would probably chouse something better. There was few thing which could have improve: 1. towel availability through out 2. coffee maschine broken for 3 days at least, in main restaurant 3 . Spanish restourant food very salty. 4. Steakhouse , poor customer service. Considered the fact that is a la carte , pre-book only restaurant. I expexted high quality service, not poorest in resort. If the booking is for 20:45 whole staff should focus on customer and not pre-closing duty. Personally have only receive salad as appetizer, mozzarella stick , I have to ask for. Also was missing sauces with mail meals. Staff lazy and rude, look like most of members of this restaurant has been on training. Amazing entertaining team. Lenka

  We love staying at RIU properties

  Stayed at RIU Jamaica and love it. Went to the DR and decided to stay at RIU again. It didn't disappoint. Highly recommended if you visit the Caribbean you stay at an RIU property.

  Republica

  It was a good stay. The staff was great. The room was clean and well kept. The only complaint is that I got dropped off at the wrong place and the drive drove off before I could find out if I was at the correct place. So I had to end up paying for a taxi, which ended up costing me a extra 40 dollars US.

  Good stay without any problems

  Nice location, good food but everywhere was the same menu, for example in the steak restaurant there were no steak's
