Incredible
This is our second year staying here, and once again the staff have been incredible! From check-in to the bar and restaurant teams, every single person goes above and beyond. They’re attentive, friendly, and handle even the rudest of guests with such professionalism and kindness — they truly make this hotel what it is! The cleanliness is second to none — everything is absolutely immaculate. The food is fresh, plentiful, and outstanding, and the lunch menu at Chilli is especially fantastic. The only small downside would be the pool bar staff — while I understand they must get fed up serving some very drunk guests, a bit more politeness and effort would go a long way. Overall, this hotel is simply fabulous! The staff make it unforgettable, and we can’t wait to come back again next year!

Return to our happy place 🌴
My husband and I spent a perfect 14 nights at RIU Palace Riviera Maya in 2023 for our honeymoon. We loved it so much, that we returned in 2024 and again this year. Although the resort isn’t flawless, and definitely isn’t for everyone, we adore RPRM. Pros The staff – RPRM genuinely has a collection of the most wonderful staff you could ever wish for in an all-inclusive resort. From the moment you enter, you are waited on hand and foot by some of the most friendly and hard-working people you’ll ever meet. We could spend hours naming names, but some of those who stand out are Teresa (Daiquiri, Lirico and what seems like everywhere else), Carlos (breakfast buffet and Chili’s at lunchtime), David (pool bar and Lirico in the evening), Enrique (pool bar), Joe (entertainment team and aqua gym) and of course Ricky Bobby. The room – As per usual our room was fantastic, comfortable and always cleaned to the highest standard. Our room (1106) was always cleaned very early (which we really appreciated), and we were presented with lovely towel art every single day. We only wish we’d known the name of our cleaner(s) as we would have liked to have mentioned them here. The hotel – As previously stated this is our third visit, and the hotel is always beautifully presented. This is in large part due to the staff who work tirelessly to keep up appearances. You could leave your room at any time during the day and you’d see cleaners, gardeners and handy men hard at work. Food and drink – As with our previous two visits, we never once struggled to find something decent to eat during our two-week stay. While we have seen plenty of complaints over the years about the quality of food at RPRM, this is not something we can relate to in the slightest – aside from one small thing we will mention in the ‘cons’ part of the review. The drinks are also very good (if at times a little strong), and the staff will endeavour to make any drink you require even if it’s not on the menu. Cons (Note that in this review the cons seem to outweigh the pros, but this is by no means the case). The pool area – While we’ve mentioned how flawless most of the resort is we feel that the upkeep of the pool could be better. There were times when it felt that the pools weren’t being cleaned from one day to the next. There was a cigarette in the bottom of the adults pool for 3-4 days, there were items from foam parties still in the main activity pool a couple of days after the event and at times the pools had a slightly yellow scum on the surface and around the edges. A few lighter coloured items of swimwear picked up yellow staining which could only be from the pool. Also, there were a number of loose/damaged electrical fittings in the pools, as well as tiling coming off in chunks. This isn’t great considering the hotel was only refurbished in 2019. Lack of security around the hotel – During previous stays there has always been a decent security presence around the hotel, however it seems to have dropped off this year. We witnessed numerous instances of inappropriate guest antics, smoking and eating in and around the pool, children in the adults only pool and loud, lewd behaviour that went uncorrected due to a distinct lack of security personnel. À la carte food – As we have never been fans of either the Italian or Mexican restaurants here, we tend to frequent the other à la cartes on a regular basis. While the food in the à la cartes is nice, not a single menu item has changed in the three years we’ve been visiting the resort. This wouldn’t be too bad if there was a massive choice, however there are only a small handful of meals at each restaurant. While this isn’t a huge criticism, we would encourage RIU to change the menus a little every so often. Evening entertainment (without Ricky Bobby) – There is a distinct drop off in the quality of evening entertainment when Ricky Bobby is not present. There were a few nights during our stay where Ricky was not there, and there was another guy running the evening entertainment (not sure of his name). Said guy was not a great evening compere in the slightest, as he was extremely repetitive to the point of being annoying. There are other people in the entertainment team who we feel could have filled in better, as he had no rapport with the audience, and felt like a bizarre choice to deputise in Ricky’s absence. Also, on the subject of evening entertainment, PLEASE can somebody fix the big screen on stage? Since our first visit more and more pixelated blocks are disappearing from the screen, and it’s going to reach the point where nobody can understand what’s on the screen. To sum up, we have had yet another amazing stay at this beautiful resort, and it will always hold a special place in our hearts. We will return at some point; however we have already booked our next holiday at another resort in Mexico. The little things, mainly the repetitive food, have led us to want to try somewhere new. We do still adore the place, despite the little niggles, and we look forward to seeing the wonderful staff again at some point in the future 💚🤍❤️

A fantastic Hotel 5*
From the moment you arrive at the Rui Palace Riviera you will be impressed. A quick check in by the welcoming reception staff and we were shown to our room. The room was really nice, a huge comfortable bed, separate w/c and bathroom area, fully stocked mini-bar, plenty storage room and blackout curtains. The room was cleaned thoroughly every day and given new towels and bedding. The grounds of the hotel are kept in superb condition and are constantly being looked after as is all of the hotel. The lovely beach with its soft sand is cleaned every morning by a machine and the staff. The sea is warm with no rocks under foot as you enter. Turn left on the beach and you can walk to Playa Del Carmen in about 10 -15 minutes or turn right and it's a beautiful beach to walk along. The buffet breakfast and dinning is exceptional with plenty choice of quality hot and cold food, it was very good indeed. There are also 'A la Carte' restaurants including, Italian, Steak House. Fusion, Mexican & Japanese all of which were excellent. What I did like compared to other hotels is you don't have to book the A la Carte restaurants. If they are busy when you get there they give you a handheld device so you can go for a drink and when it flashes your table is ready. However we never had to wait, it's a great idea and works well. All the bars are very well staffed and the service is quick. As well as the reception and the 24hr bar/lounge there's a great pool bar and another bar near the pool. Around the pool and on the beach someone comes around and asks if you would like drink's and they get them for you. There is even one man who comes around the pool sunbed's with a cold drinks trolly, class !. The animation team are great and the entertainment on the evenings is better than most hotels. Without a doubt this is a very well managed hotel and every single member of staff go out of their way to make you have an enjoyable holiday. We're hoping to return again next year. Thank you Riu for a great holiday.

Top Tier Resort. Great location, facility, service and food
We are repeat visitors here. Having stayed at three other RIUs in the area, this is our #1 choice. Online reservations were simple and fast. Emails, prior to arrival, came with fast response and clear instructions. Check-in was a breeze: 10 min tops. The rooms are large, modern, clean and comfortable. With the property set-up, you’re never a long walk from anything: lobby, pool, beach, restaurants, entertainment. Housekeeping did a fantastic job of keeping our room clean and refreshed. Pools and beach were very clean and well staffed for service. It was rare to have more than a two minute wait at any bar and at any time. Food service was very good at all restaurants and grills. Food was very good and the “no reservations needed” was nice to enjoy. The price for this resort was very reasonable for the amenities. We’ll be back.

I think you will be happy here.
The hotel was beautiful. The food was good, most of the beef is tough even the filet mignon. The variety was good. The Italian is open for lunch and dinner which was nice. We ate at the Steak House the most. The entertainment during the day and evening was. Good. Many activities during the day. The beach was just starting to clean up from the seaweed.
