  Wonderful

  Was concerned reading negative reviews but we had no issues. Room was nice and spacious, massive beds really comfy. Bar stocked regularly, cleaned well. Grounds etc immaculate. Staff very friendly and work hard. Riu parties excellent fun. Food excellent- always something on offer 24 hrs - something for everyone.

  Fantastic stay at Riu Palace - Punta Cana

  Had a great 11 days here at the resort, staff work really hard and are always cheerful. Rooms cleaned well daily and the mini bar stocked up well on request. The APP works well and is efficient for any needs you require. Worth noting you need to log onto the WIFI settings on the TV to access Netflix and You tube. Easy enough if you know! Normal channels work ok without, Food was great, all the additional restaurants were lovely and its nice to be served some evenings. Never had to wait longer than 20 minutes at busy times. Buffet was excellent!! Breakfast exceptional, Lunch buffet and outside BBQ options were brilliant. Bars in the reception area are great, sports bar (for those late night sober up feasts) great! RIU party really is a good time out, (especially if you like the IBIZA vibe), we had some terrible weather and it all went ahead if somewhat a little damp and finding some covered areas, once the rain passed normal service resumed. Lots of effort goes into these themed parties and they are brilliant fun, great entertainment at these parties and drinks and food on tap! You would pay 400+ euros in Ibiza for 1 evening at this type of venue, Close to walk to all the other hotels in the resort and the casino, all within 15 minutes off each other. Transport available but we didn't need this. Gym is pretty small at the Palace, be good to know if you can use the other hotels gym as they looked bigger, although overall I think the Palace is best hotel. Yes the rooms are in need of a refurb (mainly bathrooms, but these wear fast in any hotel or home) but we were comfortable enough, beds are huge and really comfortable. Beach is great and the beach bar and pools drop into this area within meters. Lovely to walk the length of the beach in both directions as so many people do for daily exercise. Power sockets in room and also USB points (pretty slow charging but work) Everything goes quiet at 11pm which is great if you want an early one. I am a light sleeper and had the best sleep of any holiday previously. Hotel is clean and well managed, such a large operation for logistics here and they have it sorted.

  Playing Bingo on smart phones suck!

  I have enjoyed playing Bingo at the beach bar for years, but not this time! If you hired a consultant to come up with the most boring way to "play" Bingo, they could not have done a better job of screwing it up than what you have now. Go back to the "traditional" way!

  Great RIU experience

  I would like to take a minute to say that we had a great trip. I would also like to highlight Edwin and Roberto in the main dinning area that were absolutely exceptional and could be managers. They were great with the kids and went over and above every day. Consistent. We always say at RIU because we know the foot drink and service will be great

  Hotel needs updates

  We just spent a wonderful week at the Riu Palace Punta Cana. The food wasn't anything special, but OK. The service ranged from very good to fairly indifferent when waiting for drinks. We have previously stayed at the Riu Palace Bavaro and went across to visit to see the upgrades they have made there. Bavaro is now much improved, but this sadly made the Palace Punta Cana look very shabby in comparison. The rooms desperately need to be upgraded and many things need to be repaired.
