  Our 26th Wedding Anniversary Turned Into a Nightmare at RIU! 10-22-2026 we were there for 5 days. My husband and I chose RIU to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary, expecting a relaxing, enjoyable vacation and an opportunity to make special memories. Instead, our celebration turned into a nightmare. We left extremely disappointed, frustrated, and seriously concerned about the cleanliness and sanitation standards of this property. From the moment we entered our room, there were problems. The balcony had a pack of cigarettes and someone else’s swimming trunks left behind, and we discovered a roach in the refrigerator. The television remote did not work, despite multiple requests for maintenance, and our room was not properly cleaned. On our second day, we reported these issues to the front desk and were told around 9 a.m. that we would be moved to another room. However, the new room was not ready until after 6 p.m. No one provided updates; we had to keep following up ourselves. When the room was finally available, someone simply brought us keys. No one offered to help with our luggage. The lack of urgency, communication, and basic customer service was extremely frustrating. What made the situation even worse was when my husband found a roach in his grits at breakfast AFTER he had already taken a bite. Absolutely disgusting! Finding roaches in our room was already unacceptable, but finding one in the food being served to guests raised an entirely different level of concern. Let’s be clear: A roach problem like this does not happen overnight. Finding roaches in multiple areas, including a guest room and food being served in the restaurant, raises serious concerns about ongoing pest-control, cleanliness, and sanitation issues. It makes us question how long this problem has existed, how frequently the property is inspected, and what is being done to protect guests. This is not simply an unpleasant experience; it is a serious health and safety concern. At that point, we completely lost confidence in the resort’s cleanliness and no longer felt comfortable eating or drinking there. No guest should have to worry about whether the food they are eating or the room they are sleeping in is sanitary. Additional concerns included the resort being uncomfortably cold, with guests and employees wearing coats, hoodies, and sweatshirts indoors. Even the coffee station did not open until 10 a.m. Offering to move us to yet another room was not a solution. How could we feel comfortable eating at a property where we had already encountered roaches in both our accommodations and our food? These concerns go beyond poor hospitality. They raise serious questions about the overall cleanliness, pest control, and sanitation practices of the resort. The most disappointing part is that we were there celebrating 26 years of marriage. We spent our hard-earned money expecting a quality vacation, but instead spent our time dealing with unsanitary conditions, unresolved complaints, and frustration. This was supposed to be a milestone celebration that we would remember for all the right reasons. Unfortunately, RIU gave us an experience we will remember for all the wrong reasons. I am formally requesting a FULL REFUND. Simply offering another room does not compensate for what we experienced or restore the confidence we lost in this property. We paid for an experience that RIU failed to deliver, and the discovery of a roach in our food makes this especially serious. I also expect a member of management to contact me directly to address these concerns and explain how RIU intends to make this right. I am sharing this experience because cleanliness, food safety, and proper sanitation should be non-negotiable at any resort. No guest should have to question whether their room is sanitary or whether the food they are eating is safe. Other travelers deserve to know about these concerns before spending their hard-earned money at this property. RIU, you took what should have been a beautiful 26th wedding anniversary celebration and turned it into a vacation nightmare. We deserved better. Our health and safety should have mattered, and I believe a full refund is the least RIU can do to begin making this right.

  Don’t believe the negative reviews!

  We have stayed at several Riu palace hotels throughout Mexico and have been very impressed. We were skeptical of this location because of the amount of bad reviews. Several people complained about poor service, food etc but we had amazing service and food. We didn’t even make any dinner reservations because the buffet was absolutely amazing with lobster,mussels,steak, filet mignon, shrimp, etc. The rooms may need a little updating but we were right on the beach and had amazing views. We were a little disappointed that the beach was only open a few hours during our vacation but it was due to huge waves,wind and undertow. It was a fluke and out of the hotels control. We would like to mention a few employees that went above and beyond for us: Yuya at sports bar and pool bar remembered our drink order every day! Allier and Randal knew exactly which wine we preferred at dinner, and also that we drank diet cokes in the morning! Randal was quite funny with his remarks through the meal! David and Kellen were also amazing in the sports bar and Miquel at the buffet. We would return because of the great service and food!

  Dissappointed

  Location was great, we were able to fall asleep to the sounds of waves. Rooms were a little old and can use an update. Very few amenities and very limited room service menu. It included cold turkey or ham sandwiches and ceasar salad. That's it and that's all. I wouldn't call it all inclusive because "all" was nothing. Don't come here expecting the traditional RIU vibes because this wasn't it. The entertainment was the least entertaining. I really feel like I was scammed and would be sure to call and ask questions before I book. I don't even like cold sandwiches. Lastly, the best food on the entire resort was the jerk chicken shack by the pool. The food there was awesome and it's a shame that it only opens between 12pm-3pm. Hell the could replace the shack with the steakhouse since their food is much better. If this review makes it that'll be great since this is my second attempt at posting a review.

  Excellent Stay at RIU Palace Paradise Island, Nassau, Bahamas!

  We had a wonderful experience at RIU Palace Paradise Island! The service was excellent, and the staff truly stood out for their professionalism, friendliness, and dedication to making guests feel welcome. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the bathroom was equally well maintained, with excellent water pressure in the shower. The view from our balcony was absolutely spectacular and made our stay even more enjoyable. The entertainment was great, with activities and shows every day, including nightly entertainment. The food was very good, and there was an impressive variety of alcoholic beverages to choose from. The hotel app worked very well for making restaurant reservations, making the process easy and convenient. We also appreciated the complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport, which was a great bonus. The Atlantis casino is conveniently located nearby, just a short taxi ride away for approximately $5 per person each way. Although beach access was restricted at certain times during our stay, the beach itself was beautiful, with plenty of lounge chairs available for relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. One of our favorite features was the delicious midday grill, offering pork, chicken, hamburgers, and hot dogs, in addition to the regular lunch restaurant. The coffee shop was also highly recommended, with a great selection of sandwiches, desserts, and different types of coffee. Overall, RIU Palace Paradise Island offers excellent service, comfortable accommodations, great food and drinks, daily entertainment, and convenient amenities. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an enjoyable all-inclusive experience in Nassau!

  Very mixed Reviews

  We just arrived home...October 17. 2026. I'll start with the Pros....check in was excellent ... very friendly! The pool is beautiful, very clean and the attendants were very helpful. The beach very clean. The beach guards were friendly and very helpful. The Buffet was OK at best but plentiful. The chocolate icecream was delicious! Cons: 4 roaches in 2 days in my room. I slept with the lights on in the bathroom. The entertainment...the first night was the dancers to Michael Jackson. Excellent dancing. Night 2, 3, 4, 5..dancers. no variety. Specialty restaurants..set menu, no deviation. The steakhouse had Surf and Turf with Steak and Shrimp. They also had a lobster tail dinner. Sadly cannot have steak and a lobster tail. My husband wanted all shrimp only...no can do! The Japanese restaurant i wanted noodles instead of rice...nope. made no sense since it's all inclusive. The pool music...heavy rap music! Now I understand it's adults only but FK this and Fk that...a little Caribbean music would have been nice. Lastly, no stores in the building. Yes across the street but way over price and no selection. I wouldn't say a poor review but it's certainly not average either.
