  Very nice Hotel

  One of the things that stood out to us was how nice the staff were. From check in, to house cleaning, restaurant staff and bartenders. Always a pleasant greeting and willingness to assist. The room was cleaned well every day and well stocked. The buffet was very good, particularly for breakfast and lunch. Lots of selections for every taste and good quality. Our favorite specialty restaurant was Krystal. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal. The gym was good, but could use an upgrade to some of the equipment. Nevertheless, it was clean and usable for most exercises. Pool was great and we were pleasantly surprised it was heated. Pool area was well maintained with enough seating for everyone. The beach was also very nice. There are attendants available to set up lounge chairs and umbrellas. Never a shortage of chairs. Overall our experience at the RIU Palace was positive. I would not hesitate to recommend a visit to friends and family.

  Paradise Lost

  Pros: Perfect White Sand Soft Beach Beautiful Turquoise Blue Ocean Water Most Delicious Buffet and Fine Dining Food Recommend “Bahamas Steak House” forget the steak just order the Lobster Dinner. Horrible Fine Dining Experience. Servers were careless and disengaged and knew nothing about serving fine dining. “Kulinarium” for the Lamb and Lobster Combination. Superior Fine Dining Experience. The Staff was Highly Trained and Delivered a Perfect Fine Dining Experience. Front Desk Staff: Cheers to “DELPHINE” who went above and beyond to secure a room after being relocated 3X to different rooms. Cons: Bar Service Staff: Loud and Obnoxious Totally Disinterested in Serving Guests. Life Guard Staff: Regularly seen with backs to water and socializing amongst themselves instead of watching for the safety of swimmer’s. Spa Staff: Completely Disengaged and Not Attentive to Spa Guests. Overall there were only a few servers that performed the duties of wait staff worthy of receiving a tip. The rest were completely disengaged and felt inconvenienced if you asked for anything. Hotel Property: Desperately in need of upgrade and maintenance. Tons of Rust and wooden surfaces needing paint. One of the rooms was so badly rusted that the heavy balcony door broke off its metal hinges. The maintenance crew determined that the room was completely uninhabitable and needed to relocate to another room that was far less appointed than the Superior Junior Suite originally booked.

  Nice & Clean

  This is an honest review not based on emotion but the truth! To begin this resort is located on Paradise Island and is about a 35 min ride from the airport! I would suggest getting preplanned picked up verses a taxi. I would highly suggest Majestic Tours! Have cash on hand as there is not an ATM at the hotel. Our driver stopped at an ATM for us on the way but I don’t know if other would do that! Also don’t expect the bank fees to be cheap as it cost us about $9 to get cash! Also currency exchange is dollar for dollar. Check in is at 3 but we arrived early around 11 and our room was ready! Now not making promises just letting you know our experience. Front desk was friendly. Especially Randy he took extra care to help me get my husbands phone set up on hotel WIFI! We stayed in a Junior Suite Superior Ocean View on the 11th floor! The last picture is the worse part of our room! The banging construction crew in the only closed hotel on the island! They start banging on the same metal at O Dark thirty and bang all day long! Whew a bit much! But RIU HAS no control of that just stressing that was our only major complaint! What may appear as dirty is due to the hotel rooms being outdated and old but they are clean! And the rust on the fixtures is due to there not being an exhaust fan in the bathroom. Balcony a bit awkward but manageable ! Nice view except the old hotel next door. They could do some deep cleaning especially on the dirty patio sheers. The housekeeper Dora is so sweet and professional! She was very attentive to our needs. All the staff is very friendly and helpful! I love that the rooms don’t have carpet as that’s is always a Win for me with allergies. Mini was stocked but we don’t drink but they will replenish every day to include the sodas in the fridge! You do have to ask for bottled water! You can shower and brush your teeth with it the tap water. Shower was hot and had good water pressure! Staff is always cleaning and sanitizing and oh so helpful! Love the staff! They work hard to ensure you are taken care of! Don't know where the folks stayed that said there was mystery meat because I have yet to witness that! Perhaps those who left that review need to live a bit more. GOAT was really good, octopus stir fry was really good but I forgot to take pics! There is literally any and everything for all tastebuds! Even vegan folks! With any buffet style eating its best to get there earliest for the freshest food however we came at the end of lunch and it was still fresh food! Download the RIU app before hand and be patient with it as it sometimes glitches but over all the WiFi was good. Suggestion already know which restaurants you want to try outside of the buffets as they book up fast! Book the day you check in. I really did not do the pool because why do the pool when you have that beautiful ocean at your finger tips! The beach attendants are awesome and will get your beach chairs for you and your drinks if you ask & tip of course! If a gentleman on the beach approaches you for a four hour city tour by the name Rueben like the sandwich he’s LEGIT & reasonable! Went above and beyond on city tour! Beach is perfect and private to only the RIU guest! You do have to wear a yellow wrist band your entire stay and Yes if you Loose it, that will be $250 to replace as well as a pool card it’s $100 to replace and you also have to bring your hotel key down to the front desk upon checkout. Don’t leave it in your room. You are only a 10 min walk from Hotel Atlantis! Overall the hotel rooms are just old and dated but it is not nasty and the food is good! You have tons of options and variety! We don’t drink but our son and future daughter in law do and they said the drinks were strong for all inclusive so they are not watering the drinks down! Y'all with these nasty reviews should be shame especially concerning the food and staff! My review is a 5 based off the cleanliness, professional staff, good variety of food for breakfast lunch and dinner. We would stay here again! Besides we the ocean is Amazing! And I’m a real human that has not been paid for this review nor basing it off emotions but facts!

  Don’t understand bad reviews!!!

  We came here for as a quick 2 day last minute trip for my 50th birthday. We were a little nervous coming into it because a lot of the reviews were not the best but it looked nice so we decided to give it a try and we are glad we did. I don’t usually do reviews but I don’t think the negative reviews are deserved. The staff has been super nice and helpful, the food has been good, with lots of selection, and our room is very clean. We have vacationed from tenting to 5 star resorts, and this is one that I would recommend. It is a small resort, and maybe a little dated, but I liked the style. It was pretty. We had a beautiful ocean view from our room!! Best way to wake up to 50!

  Ocean view is NOT ocean view.

  We booked a Junior suite superior ocean view room. Nothing was mentioned about partial view. The first room they gave us was not a junior suite. Then we got a room last room away from the ocean. With a ten day stay, we reluctantly accepted the partial view. Very disappointing experience. Don’t book with these crooked people. Go somewhere else.
