3 mature couples have just returned from this hotel.It has the wow factor. Beautiful grand lobby with the most incredible smell. First class staff in every pocket of the hotel. 3 pools party, meet and greet pool and snooze and chill pool. Pool bar staff worked insanely please tip them.Wibur is an amazing man bringing your drinks to the pool side and his famous call of whoop hooo to let you know they have arrived.He is incredible and remembers your orders. 5 speciality restaurants to chose from as well as the Internarional buffet. You won't starve at this place ever. Crisp white linen table cloths and napkins at all 3 food servings with spotless glasses and cutlery. The entertainment staff in the day have insane energy and are so funny individually.Theres aqua keep fit, dancing, water volley, ping pong, darts, bean bags quizzes bingo and so much to do with great music to have a sing along. If you want quiet times go to the 2 other beautiful pools. This is a hotel suitable for smaller groups to meet at, couples and families. Its an elegant hotel and it keeps that feeling whilst visiting. The standard is high. If you want to scream and shout every night book elsewhere.The entertainment in the night was great. Quizzes dance shows, Mr and Mrs comp bingo, live bands abba show and a nightclub next door for the late nighters.There is a 24 hour bar but its like a coffee lounge the pool table is next door at the Riu Cancun. The rooms are spotless and cleaned every day with fab air con and super fluffy towels and fresh bedding. Beaches are amazing soft white powdery sand with great snorkeling and warm sea water. Fab friendly feeling at this resort. DO NOT BE PUT OFF BY RECENT EVENTS ITS NOT TOURIST RELATED. you will have the best holiday ever at this hotel. The hurricane came while we were there and the staff were incredible.keeping guests calm and entertained and you would never have known it was there. Superb clean up of tge resort in record time and guest safety was paramount at all times. Shops and supermarket 30 paces across the road.$1 us dollar bus ride to town to enormous walmart took 15 mins. Nus stop is right outside. Coco Bongo 9 mins on foot and hard rock. Branded drinks in lobby bar and incredible cocktail menu. I will most certainly be returning. Riu is a brand to trust and if your looking at this review just book it.Its a quality hotel and oozes luxury. Not everyone can be pleased 0 but you would can go to reception for help with any thing at all.They will help with anything as long as you stay respectful. Lifts to higher floors which never faltered and are smooth for those with fears. Theres an iron and hairdryer in all rooms and balcony of various sizes with chairs for relaxing drinks. Please take small notes for tips.Theres a gym and a spa on site as well. Don't miss the chance to explore this hotel you won't be disappointed.

Traumatizing experience for my wife and I after seeing a man executed in an apparent cartel hit today. This happened at RIU last year as well when a 12 year old boy was accidentally struck by gunfire between cartel members. We don’t feel safe anymore in Cancún; don’t think we’ll be back. It’s unfortunate because we really liked the resort.

Oct 02, 2024Shooting on beach
Man was executed on beach by 2 gunmen. Gunmen ran up on man firing several shots at the man who ran into the water near several hotel guests. Gunmen left the property property before any security or police response. Beach was closed for a couple of hours by the police and is now open like nothing happened. Hotel desk/guest services doesn't seem interested in helping us transfer to a safer area away from the hotel zone. Hotel and staff were great prior to the incident.

Wonderful Holiday
Just returned home after 2wk stay. From the time we arrived till day we left we just couldn’t fault the staff, they were attentive, welcoming, extremely helpful, friendly and happy. Huge thank you to the Bar, restaurant & entertainment staff, they just didn’t stop - also to cleaners, on our last day massive floods in hotel due to the tropical storm but they just got on with sorting it out without any fuss. We stayed on the 3rd floor & had fab balcony and sea views. We would definitely recommend to our family and friends & will be back - Thanks again

Girls Trip
I had a fabulous time. Food was delicious. Service dynamic, very clean. The only thing I that wasn’t appealing was the alcohol mixed drinks.
