Great hotel the overall layout of resort was amazing and staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were well kept and clean. Loved the coffee bar and food at the buffet was good. We weren’t able to make all restaurants as they were booked but ate mainly at buffet which staff were awesome friendly and attentive. We will definitely go back to the Rui resort as it was an amazing experience.
Went for second time for our anniversary was nice other then everything being closed due to world wide virus. Employees are always very friendly, very helpfully. It’s always a great time no matter what
Fabulous resort! This place is quiet but close to all the action. The mall isn’t far away and the staff does everything possible to make sure that your stay is enjoyable. I would definitely return to this location if I am going to vacation in Cancun.
We have stayed here 4 times, 3 times as a couple and 1 time with a larger group. This is a wonderful hotel with a great beach. We have been all over the Caribbean and keep coming back here. There is good snorkeling off the beach just to the north of the hotel. We have seen a very large stingray, cuttlefish, barracuda, triggerfish, starfish, etc. We really appreciate the staff like Abu, Lino, Ulysses, Felipe and especially Ernesto. Be sure to enjoy the sister hotels for free. The hotel next door has kids and a little more wild nightlife like La Pacha- a dance club. We always take a $1 bus ride to the Riu Peninsula and have a great time there as well. Small Mayan ruins are on the grounds. Right next to this sister hotel is the ferry terminal to get to Isla Mujeres. On the Isla we rented a golf cart and had a great time riding around, snorkeling, eating, and listening to a great cover band for free at The Joint. It has shopping across the street and is a very short walk to Coco Bongo and Senor Frogs and other nightlife. The food is the best of all the places we have stayed. Be sure to get go to the outdoor barbecue on Wed and Sat, and everyone has a lot of fun at the silent dance party. We love this place.
Very nice anniversary trip
After months of research I chose this location for our 20 year anniversary trip. I would have given a five rating but there were a few hiccups. I really wanted to give this resort five stars too. Check-in: We did not have to wait long to begin checking in. The young man that checked us in seems to have been new and uncertain when we asked questions. Our room was not ready so he informed us that our room will be ready shortly and that we would receive an email when our room was ready. We were given a bracelet immediately to enjoy the amenities. Four hours later we were still awaiting an email which never came. Finally my husband decided to approach the desk and ask if our room is ready. He was immediately given the room keys. So my guess was we were never going to get an email. This was not a good start to our trip that I had planned several months. Room: The room was absolutely beautiful. It was nice and clean. Upon entry it was noticeable that it was humid in the room but you can solve that by simply lowering the temperature on the AC. All of the rooms have an ocean view some may be obstructed. We stayed in room 531 which had a spectacular view. There is a mini bar in the room along with a refrigerator full of beverages. They are supposed to stock it daily but we had to go down to the lobby for water daily once we ran out because our refrigerator was not stocked until our last day. Housekeeping did an awesome job cleaning the room daily. Turndown service was nice too. Service: The service was really hit and miss. The service at the Buffet was alright but not great. We ate at Fiesta Mexicana” Mexican restaurant, and "Black & White" Steakhouse. The service and food at both these restaurants was excellent. The service at the 24 lounge was terrible. Even though this is a self-serve lounge open 24 hours the person working in the lounge always seem to just stare at you and not offer any assistance. The front desk service could have been better. Everything was not properly explain to us and left us a bit confused during check in. Food: The buffet was okay. I was not impressed with this buffet at all. The food at the buffet was always cold and never hot. The Mexican restaurant was really good. The service was good and the food was hot and fresh. The Black and White steakhouse with my favorite. We ate there on our anniversary and were blown away by the service and the food quality. At the end of our meal they surprised us with a cake and serenaded us with a song. This made our night very special. Room service was a very good option but very limited menu(5 snack items, 2 salad choices, and 3 desert choices). We used room service quite a bit due to the coronavirus outbreak. Entertainment/Amenities: There was entertainment in the theater area each night which was really nice we only went one night. We avoided the crowds due to the coronavirus outbreak. There was also entertainment by the pool daily which we never attended. There is a gym and a spa which we never visited. The beach was absolutely beautiful there were always seats available. Pro: Black & white restaurant and Mexican Restaurant were awesome(you must try them). The beach was beautiful and clean. The entertainment was good. Cons: The service at the buffet, the front desk, and a 24 hour lounge could use some help with customer service. Overall I would recommend this resort. Maybe tensions were high due to the coronavirus outbreak. I will give them the benefit of a doubt. I will try them again.
