Julio & Jorge, Elite Pool Waiters: Julio and Jorge ensured we had a delightful time by providing attentive service at the elite pool. Whether it was refreshing our drinks or attending to our needs, they made sure we felt well taken care of. Diana, Buffet Greeter: Diana’s warm smile and welcoming attitude set the tone for our buffet experience. Her friendly presence made us feel right at home as we enjoyed our meals.

Two words. First one is noisy. If you were indoors anywhere where there was more than about 20 people or so, the noise was almost deafening. Everything there is granite or wood, which is beautiful. But it does nothing to absorb noise. When I would go back to my room, my ears would be ringing from the background noise at the bar or the restaurant. The second word is inconsistent. From the drinks to the food, you had no idea what you were getting. Flavor of the food went from way over seasoned to bland. Was in the Italian restaurant one evening with a few other couples at other tables and I noticed that no one ate their meal. Most had a few bites and left. When we got ours, I realized why. The food was very, very salty. None of the specialty restaurants impressed me. The buffet was ok but who goes to an all inclusive resort to eat at the buffet all the time? Drinks were the same. Bartenders were not consistent. Either you got a drink that was nearly all alcohol or barely anything at all. They could really use some good bartenders and cooks. Which brings me to my last point. Cancun is billed as the go to destination. I disagree. So many new hotels and resorts have been built over the years. I imagine nearly everyone in Cancun works in a resort or in a resort support capacity. The quality of the staff suffers when everyone is competing for the same labor pool. In contrast, the Riu in Costa Rica is much different. There are not so many resorts there and people see working at the Riu is one of the best jobs available. The difference between the two is very noticeable. In my opinion, Cancun as a whole has been relegated to nothing but another tourist trap.

Elite Club is a Scam. Hotel nice. Staff nice. Food quality is bad.

Do not waste your money on elite club. It’s a scam. You do not get anything better than you would if you just give a normal junior suite ocean view. We stayed here and booked three rooms for our family. My husband and I had elite club and we’re at the pool which was completely empty. Our daughter came over for five minutes and the security guard kicked us out. The food is terrible! Everything is overcooked. The staff is nice and the rooms are nice but other than that the management sucks I even had issues before we arrived trying to ensure that we got everything we needed. It’s supposed to come with a free shuttle, but because we did not book directly with Rui they said we didn’t qualify even though seven months ago, that was not an issue when I booked it originally. They seem to come up with stories so that they don’t have to, help you or actually provide any good service. it’s really disappointing that you spend this amount of money on a trip and they do the best to make sure it’s not accommodating.
