TRAVELER ALERT: Security Failure (Robbed, Burglarized, Items Stolen) & Step-by-Step Recovery Guide (Room 3216)
The Incident: On Jan 18, 2026, my room (3216) was burglarized at RIU Palace Baja California. We were a group of 14 (7 rooms). An intruder’s card was left in my power slot. Management admitted there are NO hallway surveillance cameras, leaving guests entirely unprotected. Crucial Advice: If you are victimized here, DO NOT trust staff to help. They were antagonistic and actively suppressed evidence. Follow these steps: 1. DOCUMENT BEFORE REPORTING: Photograph/video all evidence immediately. My mistake was letting Night Manager Jorge Flores and PR staff Karla/Jorge "seize" the intruder's card; they refused to return it, hiding evidence from authorities. 2. RECORD EVERYTHING: Record all interactions with management on your phone. 3. INSIST ON A GUEST INCIDENT REPORT: Do not leave the lobby without a signed/stamped copy of the hotel's internal report. They may refuse to give you a physical copy (they only let me take a photo). Get whatever proof you can. 4. CALL 911: Do not let the hotel "handle it internally." 5. FILE AN OFFICIAL DENUNCIA: If you don't speak Spanish, go to CATTAC (Tourist Care Center). 6. EMAIL PROFECO: Contact extranjeros@profeco.gob.mx. They are the federal agency the hotel actually fears. 7. DISPUTE CHARGES: File a chargeback with your bank or booking site for "Services Not Rendered." Do not let them profit off negligence. Summary: This resort has a massive security hole and a team that prioritizes "reputation management" over guest safety. Stay elsewhere.

Thieves, Unsafe, Flavorless Drinks, Unfriendly Bartenders, Mediocre Food
Within 4 hours of checking into the resort, my boyfriend and I had a watch, wallet, and cell phone stolen from our room. After going to the Management to investigate, nothing was done as we were told that there were no cameras available to review who came in and out of our room. Additionally, Management said they searched who was on duty that night, but didn't find anything. The scariest part, is that we were located on the 3rd floor down a hallway and within 4 hours of arrival. This is indicative of being targeted by someone was looking for an opportunity to take advantage of us. We weren't even settled in our room within 4 hours. Why would any staff be coming in and out of our room already? I would not trust this hotel at all. Outside of the theft experience, the resort was clean but the bartenders were not friendly and the drinks were flavorless. The service at restaurants was good, but food was medicocre.

Best All Inclusive in Cabo
I just returned and had the best week. Thank you to all of the staff for your hard work. This hotel is clean…obsessively clean. There is always someone cleaning as you walk around. The food was delicious at every restaurant and it was not difficult to get a reservation. The buffet was also great for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Kudos to the omelet and wok stations! I truly enjoyed the poolside food as well. I’m going to miss the fresh tacos, guacamole, and pico! The wait staff by the pools were also great. They are always circling to get you drinks and there are so many sun chairs available! I cannot recommend this hotel enough. All of the parties were great and I loved they were in the next door hotel. It was nice to go but then have the space away from them when I was done. I do ALOT of all inclusives and this one truly knocked it out of the park. This place is a true gem. I want to send several special shout outs. First, Julia and Salvador at the swim up bar. Thank you so much for the great service and drinks! Carlos was amazing for breakfast. Finally, the Gold Bar. This place was amazing and the biggest shout out goes to Auturo and especially Fernando!!! Fernando made my entire stay and I looked forward to talking with him every evening. Give this man a raise!

Beautiful grounds and location, but mediocre food.
Our experience was overall a 4/5. Location, grounds, rooms, bar service and pools were top notch. However I feel the food at ala cartes was lacking. Presentation was boring, no exceptions on ordering if you wanted 2 starters instead of an entree. Some staff was ignorant. And it just was a generous 3/5 on taste. We are RIU members and are booked at 2 more RIU hotels in February.. and I’m a bit worried. You won’t go hungry by any means here, just don’t expect to be wowed. We will most definitely return to our regular comparable hotel chain “the Barcelo” if our next 2 bookings are the same experience ☹️

Lackluster vaca
Typically I am a RIU lover - I’ve been to many other properties and this was an awful experience compared to the other properties. I was thankful for a vacation, but I left unsure if I would try this property again. - no one in our group got sick from the food - but other than the Elite restaurant, every other experience was mediocre. I would avoid Krystal, the food there was particularly bad. Pepe’s tacos were probably the best meal we had while there. - this property refused to make egg’s Benedict, which was always my favorite item at other RIUs. - the music at the pool was oldies, not even ones you can dance to. Bring your noise cancelling headphones. - we did the elite oceanfront view room. It was stunning & worth the extra $. - spa was TINY & didn’t have amenities. Just get Cindy to massage you on the beach under the umbrella and save yourself $130. - somehow, the staff was the worst I’ve ever experienced at a RIU property. My group (3 ladies) tip well, are friendly and all work in food/bev industry ourselves. The staff seemed miserable! A host laughed at when we inquired if they had a table at the Asian restaurant and shut the door. We all agreed that we had many awkward and weird interactions with the staff! I honestly got the vibe that they all hated their jobs. - the beach is amazing! We brought inflatable swim floats to float in the ocean, highly recommend! - daybeds for elite guests are prime location!
