Great last minute trip to Aruba and the Riu Palace
We did a last minute trip to Aruba last week and decided to stay at the Riu Palace. It was all-inclusive and we had a great time. The hotel was practically empty, and we pretty much had the beach all to ourselves. There were some other guests at the pool and beach, but there was plenty of room to stretch out. Everyone at the hotel was VERY nice. Aruba is truly one happy island! I feel as if the staff went out of their way to make our visit extremely enjoyable. In order to visit Aruba, you either have to be tested for Covid 72 hours before you arrive, or get tested at the airport upon arrival. We live in Virginia and got tested here, but did not get our results back in time. So, got the q-tip shoved up our noses again! We had to quarantine in our room at the Riu while awaiting our results (took about 8 hours) and then we were free to enjoy the island. While in quarantine, the hotel took care of us and delivered room service to us with no problems. I don't remember everyone's names, but Vanessa at the pool area took very good care of us with the drinks. Again, everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and the hotel tried really hard to make our visit special. I will definitely go back to Aruba and stay at the Riu Palace.
Remarkable Particularly In A Time Of Crisis
With a small fraction of the hotel's guest capacity, the hotel was continued to offer the guests the services and amenities that are expected. There were more staff than guests during our stay. The entire staff was helpful, pleasant, and practiced safety procedures to protect their guests as well as themselves. I will mention a few of the individuals but, the list does not negate those whose names I do not recall - Sandra (Director of Operations), Luis (Food Services), Ali, Angel, Shirley (waitress), Henry, Enrique, Jonathan (front desk), Marshall (Pool/Beach Attendant), Anthony (bartender), Dulce, Victor, etc.... It is understandable that there was not the abundance of food at the buffets or that only one or two specialty restaurants were open. There simply were not enough guests to warrant more. The hotel continued with the lobby piano player and musicians at the outdoor theater each evening even for the handful of people who were there. 5 stars to Riu Palace Aruba for making my stay on the island memorable. I will definitely book a trip at the Riu again.
Looking for communication from Corporate RIU
This is a specific request for Corporate RIU regarding the RIU Palace in Aruba because our only point of contact is currently unavailable to us. When the RIU purchased this property in 2007 the 35 timeshare units were part of the purchase. Information regarding how the timeshare owners will be notified regarding the following would be appreciated: when the RIU Palace opens, will the timeshare units open at the same time? If we are unable to stay in our timeshare due to RIU Palace closure, what will be the plan for the week (s) missed as all fees/maintenance were paid in 2019 for 2020? If there is a specific person/department we should direct our questions/concerns regarding our timeshare at the RIU Palace, please share.
Great Resort, great staff, great service!
Always a great time...can’t wait to return to “One Happy Island”! Any timeframe of when the resort will open back up? I know the Government said possibly mid June-July 1st? Would you be inline with that time frame also?
Very special and memorable family vacation!
We visited the week leading up to Christmas and loved every moment of our trip. It was so charming to see the hotel decorated for the holidays and we really enjoyed relaxing on the Island instead of frantically shopping before Christmas. We truly enjoyed ourselves. We loved the buffet - there are so many options at each meal - we loved it. Our eight year old loved the food, beach and pool and our 6 month old had his first swims in the ocean and pool and napped like a champ in the fresh air and shade by the pool. The beach is spectacular, the Island is very safe, the hotel staff were incredible and so accommodating. The hotel itself felt like home away from home. We really loved our walks by the beach and at night, we often ventured into the tourist section to simply enjoy and treat our son to the arcade. This was my third time vacationing at the Riu Palace and I plan to come back many more times. It is worth spending a little more but getting a vacation where you feel safe, can drink the tap water and enjoy gorgeous surroundings. The service was top notch - we really loved our server, Luis, who treated us like royalty. Dreams of our next trip to the Riu Palace in Aruba are helping us get through the current pandemic - we can’t wait to visit on the other side of this. Best wishes of good health to all the wonderful staff there.
