Superbowl week
Stayed for a week with 8 friends age 58 to 70 superbowl week. Though there wasn't much to complain about but I didn't get that vibe to give it more then a 4 star. The rooms were comfortably the food better then I expected from other reviews even did the waterslides but all there music whether it was by the pools or on stage was in Spanish I know were in Mexico but it was mostly the entertainment staff on the dance floor all us english can only handle a little latin music to dance to. The only other complaint was they ran out of higher end brands of spirits but it was our last night Wednesday so a small anoyance. There was real mixture of ages from 18 to over 90 and most seem to party pretty good a lot of daring who would go on the slide, half of our group went. As long as I'm paying for a 4 star place I would recommend it.

Fabulous Experience
We were a group of 14 that stayed from Monday to Friday. We had a mix of friends and family in the group from 18 to 60 and all were very happy with our stay. The experience was excellent! This was my 6th trip to Mexico and I'd say it was one of the best of all of them! From the airport, we had booked Amstar for transportation, and our entire group was able to ride together. They didn't keep us waiting to get to our vacation spot! When we arrived at the resort, we were warmly greeted right away. Our rooms weren't quite ready, so they kept our luggage all together and brought it all to the room as soon as we could get in. We were a little early, so it wasn't a surprise that we had time to wait. Excellent service, everything was so clean and well kept. The reps from Amstar were amazing! They helped us confirm our transportation back to the airport for our departure date and were very helpful in recommending things to do off the resort. Elena, Efrain & Victor were so welcoming. Part of our group took a catamaran to Isla Mujeres for most of a day. The Amstar group recommended the perfect day, as it was really windy for most of the stay. The restaurants were so well set up and the staff was more than accommodating for the size of group we had. Food was great, lots to choose from. Our favorite was the steakhouse and the huge buffet. Cesar at the Mariachi bar was awesome too! Very friendly and always quick with a drink! The 24 hour Sports Bar was a must for us - whether it was for cocktails or freshly ground & brewed coffee, the staff was great! It was also a nice break from the cool, windy weather we had on a couple of the days. We had a swim out room and I wouldn't have it any other way. Our room looked out towards the garden and entertainment area. Even being so close to the nightly entertainment, it wasn't too loud. The other guests were so friendly. We made several new friends from all over. For being such a fabulous resort, the price was excellent! We definitely plan on staying here again next February, but for a little longer!

Riu Latino is overall a great, clean resort
Spent 1 week at Latino with my sister and mom. Unfortunately we had terrible weather which affected our enjoyment of this vacation. (Obviously no fault placed on the resort) Check in was quick, welcome mimosa was served upon arrival. We were advised that our room had 2 small beds and that a cot would be brought to our room which was appreciated. The room was clean and fridge was stocked. Although our room was cleaned daily we did have to ask for coffee & water one day and toilet paper and towels on another day. Our room was ground floor to the side of the stage and it could be very loud but was manageable. The grounds are immaculate and the entire resort is very clean! The buffet fare was good, although there were no "cooking stations" which was a little disappointing. The restaurants were just ok with the steak house being the better choice, I did find most of my meals to be quite salty. It is extremely loud in all dinning areas. The bar staff was friendly and service was timely. The beach could have been beautiful had the weather cooperated. The sand is quite soft and although beautiful, does make the treck to the beach seem a little difficult. We did have 1 nice day to enjoy in the sun. There was a beach attendant who made sure guests had chairs and umbrella's. A server also came by a few times with a variety of drinks which was really appreciated. There are 4 pools, with 2 having swim up bars and thus being the busiest. They are kept clean and the staff are quite strict with not allowing smoking, vaping or eating in the pool. We ventured to the Riu Caribe one day for the beach as it was a red flag at Latino. The resort is beautiful and has a unique lay out. We took an Uber there and back and I am mentionning this beacuse they "could not" give us access to wifi at Caribe for our Uber back and wanted to charge us $15US for wifi. Just something to keep in mind if you are going to another resort. Overall, we were satisfied with the amenities, the staff were joyful, pleasant and smiling. The layout is efficient and the resort is clean.

A nice short trip
Overall we had a good trip to the Riu Latino. Wasn't one of the best resorts that we've stayed at but seemed great for our daughter's first trip to an all-inclusive. I’ll break our trip down into a few areas so we can rank them out differently: Resort 4/5 - Lobby, restaurants and bars were well maintained and very clean! - Multiple pools all looked kept up and clean. - Lobby Bar, Sports bar and event space bar were the options. Understaffed at times and drink options seemed fine. It was nice to have a coffee option at all the stations also. - Beach was taken care of and plenty of options for chairs or hammocks available daily. Food 3/5 - Buffet was one of the better ones we've encountered. - Italian - So-so. Everything was self-serve except the entree dish. Three different meals ordered here, and they all felt like they were a reheated dish. - Asian - sushi available as well as some Asian dishes. All self-serve from a buffet line. - Mediterranean - OK. I'm not a fan of that type of food but the wife and daughter both felt it was middle of the road. - Sports Bar - Hot dogs, premade sandwiches and chips/cheese. Microwave on hand to heat them up. _ Pepe's (Lunch only) - burgers, dogs, chicken, fries. Nice options for lunch. - Room service - Nonexistent. I feel like this takes them down a notch. Room 3/5 - Nice layout but nothing special - One lightweight blanket provided so watch what you set your temp to - Must put the door tag out if you want towels or mini bar refilled - Big bathroom with walk in shower and 2 sinks Staff 4.5/5 - Check in crew were all pleasant and helpful - All service staff at the restaurants were great - Jehu, Mike and Bryan around the pool bar and drink carts were great throughout the stay - Luz, Fabi and Melba were great at the spa - Activity team was great. Always trying to make sure your involved and having fun without pressuring you too much. Middle of the road for us but they definitely have some great staff members working there!

Excellent Resort just north of Cancun
Excellent experience here during my 6-night stay at Hotel Riu Latino. The food was excellent the service was top-notch and the hotel stay overall was great. There is a general buffet and four themed restaurants which I visited all except for the Indian themed one. The Italian restaurant was OK, the Asian themed restaurant was a little better and the steak restaurant was decent. I had the ribeye there but it was a little tough and a welcome change from the buffet. I really enjoyed the buffet as there is a large variety of food selections for all three meals (breakfast, lunch or dinner). Keep in mind none of the restaurants take reservations and it's first come first served- especially with the steak restaurant as there is a line of folks waiting for dinner when it opens at 6pm locally. If you want to wait remotely, the maître-d will give you a buzzer that vibrates when your table is ready. I had a noisy neighbor one early morning at 3AM which persisted for over 15 minutes. I then reported this with a brief call to the front desk and this was resolved within 10 minutes. Rooms were very clean and the weather was great- mid seventies fahrenheit with that excellent Caribbean breeze constantly flowing. There were white clouds in the distance on the excellent private beach which I visited daily which then turned gray with light rain on a couple days but I did not mind. The evening entertainment was average to sub-par but I really didn't come to the resort for that. But it was enjoyable watching the guests engage in karaoke one evening. Lastly, use your judgement when requesting taxi services as they will gouge you if you let them in the event you want to venture outside the resort. The shady bellboy directed me to $90.00 taxi service (round trip) to Mercado 28 near downtown Cancun about 20 minutes away but I knew that was a raw deal. Later on I verified that I could use my Uber app and pay a reasonable rate for a third of that! And then later, it was nice that the concierge near the front desk confirmed that there were less expensive choices for excursions/tax's elsewhere in Cancun. Use your own discretion but if money is no object, no worries and have fun!
