Great Hotel, rooms, food..... Minor disappointment
Large hotel, they handle masses well. Loved my room...ocean view.... above average buffets.... beach bbqs. Huge beach area for walking, sites, etc. Not an issue finding beach chairs, still some reserving which isnt allowed. ONLY disappointments were Fisrtly, when I was there for 3 weeks I never got into the specialty restaurants once.... they dont take reservations, first come first served at 7am each morning. Secondly, when I arrived at 11am my room wasnt available til almost 4pm. Tough when you're wearing jeans to enjoy.
All inclusive is awesome!
Mum and I went to this all inclusive resort just to get away and get some sun. We chose well. This resort was full of friendly staff. Good food. And lots of drinks! We met many great people at the swim up bar and have kept in touch with them since we have been home. We met some great staff. Dego worked the front desk. He helped us locate our luggage when it wasn't delivered to our room. He also helped us connect to the free wifi. We met Lupita who sat with us one lunch hour. She said she was a resort activities coordinator. We also met Monica. We asked her to join us during breakfast one morning. Monica works in Public Relations. We thought she could teach us some Spanish and we in turn could help her with her English. But it turns out Monica speaks perfect English. When we would see her around the resort, she would always stop and say hello! Leslie taught us aquasize daily. She always gave us a challenging work out! In the big restaurant we had the same server every morning. He would make sure we had a table in his section and say 2 water 2 orange juice and 1 coffee. He never had a wasted movement and he never stopped moving. He would anticipate our needs. For example if I got a hard boiled egg a saucer for the shells would appear next to me. We also met Cellie. She was our maid. She did a fantastic job of cleaning our room each day. A little tip. If you leave money on your pillow each day you'll be left with a little critter made out of a blanket or towel. Very cute! There was lots to do each day so you can be as active as you would like. You can also relax and enjoy the sun. No need to do the towel game. Lots of chairs every where. The resort is right on the ocean. Making it 5 stars. It earns everyone of those stars. There was lots of entertainment at night, however with all of the fresh air that we had daily we were in bed early. We would come back again in a heartbeat! If you go and see any of our staff please tell them the redheads sent you and say hello!
Absolutely loved it!
We traveled as a couple from March 6-13 2020. I was worried about some of the reviews I read & would say they were misleading to say the least. Overall had an amazing time and would definitely go back to this resort. The hotel itself was huge & very clean. Our room was an oceanfront on the 8th floor. Housekeeping restocked the fridge with water, beers & pops every time they cleaned the room and there was always fresh towels. The elevators, one was blocked off & ended up reopening while we were there. Yes, it was a bit of a wait but not as bad as everybody was describing. I'd say the longest we waited was ~7 min. If your only complaint on vacation is waiting for an elevator, I'd say that's not a terrible trip. There was always a variety of food at the buffets & the staff there always had a smile on their faces. They have some watersides, which every age can enjoy. The only complaint I would have, was the lack of entertainment & the damn music bands on the beach wailing away every single day. Other than that, for the price, that hotel was great!
Just spent two weeks here. Hotel was OK. It was kept very clean. Nice room overlooking the ocean. Very small old TV. Lovely pools, a great place for kids with their own water slide park. Beautiful sandy beech but the sea did not look very inviting. Hundreds of lounge chairs, plenty for everyone. The food was good but did not change very much. The specialty restaurants were a non event, all buffet style. In the afternoons after lunch until dark every day there was a brass band playing on the beach. Tuba, trumpets, trombone and drums making as much noise as they could. A little way down the beach there was another seven piece band desperately trying to out blast the first ones, None of them could find the right note! The noise was deafening and there is no escape. If your idea of a holiday is a lounger on the beach or by the pool with a good book and a quiet doze now and again then this place will drive you mad!
Hotel Riu Emerald Bay
We stayed in early March at this resort. The food was good with a variety of choices, thats just my personal experience. Overall the Resort was clean, the people who work there are friendly. The only issue we had was with the Elevators in the Main Resort as they were old, very slow and creeks. The resort is trying to renovate them but its a hassle especially in peak times in the mornings and evening. At times you would have to wait 10-15 mins... not a good experience. However the New building is much more cleaner, quieter and closer to the Splash pad, swimming pool, evening Entertainment and Beach. Good for family with small kids, bigger kids and adults will aslo enjoy the Splash pad is you're a big a fan of the beach.
