  Family and friends vacation

  This is a nice resort and the staff work hard to make your stay a great experience. We never had to wait more than 30 seconds or so for a drink and the bar cart that was pushed around poolside was fantastic. There was a fruit cart one day that was a great idea and we wish it could have been a daily thing. The beach is beautiful (no seaweed) and there are many lounge chairs both on the beach and pool side. The steak and Italian restaurants were both good. The buffet left something to be desired. Food was the same day after day and very bland. Seemed like a big selection with nothing very good if that makes sense. The shrimp gave myself and another person in our party food poisoning which cost us a day of our vacation (in my case) and a couple of days (in our friends case). The pool bar food was burgers, hotdogs and nachos but the nachos tasted like cardboard so that was disappointing. The shows were good and the White Party and Super Bowl Party were fantastic. A huge effort were put into both by staff and it showed. If you need a quiet room though definitely ask to be put away from the bar/show area as it is loud and some nights the entertainment goes late. Check in and check out were easy and quick. I didn’t see a bug the entire time we were there so they must spray for them. Rooms were cleaned daily. Main disappointment was the food. If the buffet could have been better that would have elevated the experience.

  Dunamar Does Do Deeply Delightful Destination Downtime

  Riu Dunamar has all that you need or want for some fun in the sun. Though a more physically geographically compact resort, it packs a punch with lively entertainment, family fun, delicious food choices, comfortable rooms and exceptional customer service. The hospitality staff are most welcoming and helpful, willing to patiently answer any question. The custodial staff were extremely friendly and efficient, the place is super clean thanks to the constant work of the custodial staff. The food servers are friendly and helpful. The kitchen staff do a superb job of offering delicious meals and presenting them in eye-catching ways. The recreation staff were extremely upbeat and offered many choices to join in the fun. Though we were quite concerned that some of their efforts did not include safety measures, like doing the acrobatic maneuvers at the pool without safety harnesses or even mats on the concrete to protect from falls. The biggest disappointment is the lack of sun protection "umbrellas" on the beach. The closeness of the sun loungers did not provide any sense of personal space. A very family friendly resort that also allowed adults without children plenty of options to simply enjoy life. A reminder that the location is rather remote. Need to take taxi if you want to go off resort to wander around.

  Great stay overall. Grounds were lovely. Drinks and food were just average. The resort was on a great stretch of beach. Not overcrowded. Bar service on the beach was great. Gustavo was very attentive and friendly.

  My wife and I had a great trip at Riu Dunamar. When we were there we always were able to find a pool or beach chair. Beautiful beach area. The facilities were kept very clean, and the staff worked hard. Lots of food and drink options. Food was often a bit bland, but could find something good, and adding sauces helped. Since the hotel had quite a few kids at it, we liked the quieter adults only pool. Limited amount of Hotel provided entertainment. This hotel is 30 mins away from Cancun, which limits the amount of things to do in the area.

  Not bad but not great but good

  Overall the experience was great but one thing I want to point out is the shampoo was very rough on my hair and damaged it a little but u could always get your own shampoo
