Great resort except for the food
We stayed at RIU Dunamar from February 16 to February 23, 2026. Check in was quick and easy. It took about 20 minutes to get our towel cards and wristbands and head to our room. Check out was just as simple. The size of the resort was perfect for us. We were traveling with my 82 year old mom, so it was nice that everything was close together. The pools, restaurants, beach, and entertainment area were all an easy walk. The entertainment area had lots of seating, some covered and some not. Our room was spacious and very clean. Housekeeping did a great job every day. The whole resort was very clean, including the pools, bars, and restaurants. The first day the room had a bit of a strange smell, but it was gone by the next day. The room felt a little warm at first, but once we turned on the ceiling fan it was comfortable. The only issue with the room was the noise. When people shut their doors in the hallway, it echoed loudly and woke us up a few times during the night. The walls seem a bit thin, but overall we were still able to sleep. Service was mostly good. The bar service was very good all week. Buffet service was hit or miss. Sometimes we had to ask more than once for spoons or drinks, and once in a while we had a server who did not seem very friendly. The biggest disappointment for us was the food. Most of it was not hot enough. We are used to other all inclusive resorts in Mexico having live cooking stations like omelet stations in the morning or grills at dinner. There were no live cooking or smoothie stations here. Everything was already sitting out in trays, and because of that it just was not very hot. A couple of times the fish and chicken even seemed undercooked. The food by the pool was also not very good. The chips tasted stale, almost like cardboard, and the cheese sauce was very runny. They did have turkey hot dogs, which we appreciated since we do not eat pork, but I did not like the taste of them. The fries were not great either. At other resorts we have stayed at, the beach or pool restaurants had more variety and different themes with things like pasta stations, wings, and other options. This resort did not offer much variety by the pool. The a la carte restaurants were a little strange because parts of them were still buffet style. The Asian restaurant was the best one we tried. The Italian restaurant had good appetizers, but our main meals were cold and not good. We skipped the steakhouse based on reviews and did not try the oth

Beautiful Beach Vacation
Very nice, new and clean resort! We typically stay in the hotel zone at a resort that is a step up from this, but we we needed to go a less expensive this year. This resort did not disappoint. Most of the reviews I read before were pretty accurate, but I will throw in our families thoughts as well. The Beach is FABULOUS! Depending on wind that day, the ocean can be completely flat up or up to 5 foot waves. Tons of beach chairs and shade, you don't have to save seats and can find some any time of the day. Shout out to GUSTAVO-our waiter on the beach. This guys works SO hard, remembering our names/details and bringing drinks/water before we even have to ask. They have 5 pools, 2 adult and 3 family-all very close to each other. Water temp was great-not too cold (I am a wimp). Pretty much can find chairs/shade here any time during the day as well. Waterpark-what a BONUS! Big slides for the big kids/adults and small slides for the toddlers. So fun! Food- I would give the buffet a 3.5/5 - this place was busy while were were there, but could always find a seat. The variety was ok, they just need to keep up on restocking this better. The Steakhouse I would say 2.5/5, ordered Medium/rare and ooohhh-we got super rare. Italian and Asian 5/5 -these were great!! No reservations, just walk in - only had a little wait one night. Sports Bar-sandwiches, fruit, nachos 24/7 - this is also the place to come for the good coffee bar. Rooms-very clean, small beds, minibar (this was nicely stocked at first, but you have to reorder on the app and we ordered water every day but only got it once). GYM-looked nice, didn't use as I like to work out on the beach. Runners-there is a sidewalk out front that runs for 3 miles in one direction-really shaded in the mornings. Fun entertainment of some sort every night. Lastly, this resort is quite a ways from the city -so if you want to do excursions just be prepared travel. The staff were all very courteous and kind from check-in all the way to check-out. Would recommend!

nice and clean place
we will go with all the positive because there is not a lot of bad. nice beach with excellent service for drinks. really clean hotel and all the bathrooms always smell good. The food was really good at all restaurant. My only point is the dinner should start earlier than 6pm but this is me as an early eater. the beach is great also. the entertainment was number 1. the front desk was excellent also. I really dont have a lot to say as everything was great.

Still Good, but with some issues
The new issue was small insects in the room that harmed my little son. The staff wasn't helpful. Then the coffee machines were off too often. The service staff at the buffet tried to serve (get some tips) those who already had a meal instead of prioritizing cleaning tables for those waiting to be seated. Food quality dropped a bit compared to 2025, and prices increased by 25-30%. That's a sharp price increase.

RIU Dunamar could be better
My husband, daughter and I stayed for 6 days. The biggest disappointment was the food. The breakfast buffet had the best food at the resort. Everything else was not good. We went off the property to eat authentic Mexican food. The only lunch was at Pepe’s Grill who’s is just hamburger or hot dog with fries. Pretty awful tasting. The alcohol was low quality. I finally found a drink I liked on day 4 which was the Mai tai. The only beer is Dos Xx. The resort itself is nice. They were always cleaning the lobby and common areas. The room was clean. The pools were clean. Staff was friendly but I would not go back. The food quality was a huge disappointment.
