RIU Cancun was fabulous, The property was lovely. we stayed on the 6th floor and the view of the ocean was breath taking. The ocean was great not much seaweed and the pools were great. They had a pool primarily for entertainment, a separate pool if you just wanted to relaxed and be away from the noise and they also had a swim up pool bar. The restaurants were limited at this property but you could always find something satisfying to eat. For me, besides the front desk agents I found most of the service workers weren't that friendly especially at the restaurants. The location of the property was great! You could walk to nearby entertainment areas such as coco bongo and local restaurants. The Riu party was great, they shuttle you to a nearby property for parties which was always entertaining. Overall my wife and I enjoyed the vacation at Riu Cancun. We also stayed at the Riu Palace Kukulkan for a few nights and this property is gorgeous as well, good food and good vibes.

Nov 25, 2025Lovely hotel and staff
Just returned after a 14 day stay from this hotel and must say how impressed we were with the staff, rooms, (little tip avoid the 13th floor as you cannot see the sea because of the ledge and high wall), including the overall cleanliness of the hotel. The staff worked around the clock trying to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The food was very good and we tried all the speciality restaurants during our stay and can say again we received excellent service especially that we had a birthday to celebrate during our holiday. The entertainment team worked again extremely hard all day to keep us busy and we never felt pressurised to join in if we didn't want too ( we did quite a few keep fit classes and games). It was spoilt however by the fact we expected to have the speciality nights i.e White night that we had packed for, at our resort only to be told that Riu had decided to do them at one of their sister hotels the Riu Caribe which a bus was laid on for the guests. Considering the Riu Cancun is an adults only and several of the guest were, shall we say, had been drinking to excess all day to then ship them down to a family hotel did seem very wrong to me. If I had my family at the Caribe and a drunken load of people invaded the resort I would have been quite annoyed to say the least. They were very loud and obnoxious at times and could do with a lesson in how to behave, falling over drunk and being sick, throwing drinks at each other etc but it was their holiday too and it takes all sorts. Overall the experience was a positive one but we will not be going back to this hotel in the future.

Great holiday
Great food ,all the specialty restaurants were excellent , all the staff from the excellent entertainment team to the cleaners were a credit to RIU Cancun , I Also enjoyed the Rui parties

Riu
My girlfriend, her friend and I had a great time staying, only problem were the beds, they were ridiculously hard and uncomfortable, the tv didn't work properly at all, but other than that service/everything else was great

Amazing stay, amazing week at the Riu Cancun
Beautiful resort, amazing staff, delicious food, and gorgeous ocean views. The pools, beach, and entertainment were all fantastic. Everything was clean, fun, and relaxing. I would definitely return! 🌴☀️💙
