Our Canceled Vacation
Like many other travel hopefuls we had our much anticipated and needed vacation to Punta Cana Princess departing April 7. Fortunately we have visited this property before so we have those memories. Sadly we have to miss this one. Thinking about all the fantastic workers there that treat each guest as though they are family. Prayers to each of you and your families that you all weather this recent virus and that we can see you all again one day.
well what can I say about this place! absolute paradise! we loved it so much 10 minutes before our transfers we managed to extend our stay as we genuinely couldn't leave! we had the privilege of staying in the honeymoon suite, which was out of this world! the cleaners were fantastic there every day without fail tidying our room to an amazing standard and stocking up our fridge daily, room service and buffets were to die for, also credit to the restaurants the food was so nice! as for the staff, they made us feel at home, and feel we have come away with some amazing friends too, shout out to chocolate, Gucci, Goosman, Richard, Michael Jordan, Martha and Bavaria, felt like family by the end of our 2 week stay! we will 1 million % be returning again and again and again to this stunning hotel! thanks for giving us the best 2 weeks before this meltdown across the world! stay safe family we will see you soon! shelley and ryan 💖 xxxx Oh and not forgetting anudey who took some amazing pics of me and my partner throughout our stay.
This was my second time back to the beautiful Punta Cana Princess! I've waited a long time to return because I wanted to visit different resorts. Rooms: The room we had was in building 5 and our view was much less than expected. I went down and showed them a before and now and we were switched into building 4. Room 4218 had a much nicer view even though there was a tall palm tree obstructing a lot of the view. I didn't think view was important to me but as it turns out, it is, and I was grateful for the switch because it rained a fair amount so we spent quite a bit of time on the balcony. The updated rooms are absolutely gorgeous. My complaint about it is the fact that the bed space has been cut in 1/2 to make room for a Jacuzzi. In doing that, there is also no room for a dresser so although shelves in the closet, not nearly enough storage space for clothing. I should also note that these rooms were always 2 levels but now there isn't a lot of room to walk around the bed. If you're a little tipsy and off balance, it wouldn't be hard to fall down the one stair. It is lit, but it's also tight. The closet is very dark and I had to use my phone flashlight to retrieve my clothes often. Because the new colors are like a mahogany, everything is very dark and the new pot lights don't provide near sufficient lighting. Ladies, good luck with your make-up if you wear it as well as styling your hair! The beds are firm but comfortable and if you need a third bed like we did, it too is comfortable. It's just a pullout mattress under the couch but surprisingly comfortable. The bathroom is spacious but there's not a lot space to put things so the counter gets cluttered up pretty quick. There are shelves in the "L" shaped shower that is very nice though for placing your shower needs. We never encountered a shortage of hot water or drain issues. POOL: The pool was a comfortable temperature and clean. There was typical Dominican entertainment, games and exercises daily. The entertainment staff were excellent at getting participants and interacting with the guests. They were encouraging and fun but not pushy. BEACH:The beach is beautiful, but if you've been to Punta Cana before, that's no surprise.I don't know whether it was the bad press, the covid-19 or the time of year but it was not very busy at all. You could go to the beach or pool at any given time throughout the day and find a great spot no matter your needs. FOOD: This one's always a hit & miss with me because I'm not one for experimenting with my food and I don't eat seafood at all. Manuel at the buffet pasta station was awesome as were all the staff there. There is plenty of variety and a little something for everyone. The biggest downfall for me here was simply that breakfast is over at 10:00 a.m. It'd be nice to be able to go for buffet breakfast until 11:00 a.m. All the a la carts are awesome. The food is wonderful as are the staff. ENTERTAINMENT: There is entertainment in the front lobby every second evening but it's pretty much the same thing every time. If you're wanting night life, you're better to take a tram to the sister resort which you also have access to. My advise here is to wonder around and see what's available. At the Caribe, there's a mini golf course, run down but still just as much fun, there's also a coffee bar and equally beautiful pools. At the princess, there's volley ball, archery, boccie ball, ping pong..... and many other things for your entertainment. This is a wonderful resort and just as beautiful as the first time we stayed. This time made better by the fact that we didn't have to wake up at the crack of stupid to get a palapa or lounger on the beach or at the pool. Kudos Princess Resort for never disappointing. I rated 4 stars because of the lack of sufficient lighting and storage for clothing
Do not stay here!
Horrible resort. We booked the Punta Cana Princess and paid to upgrade to the VIP package which included an ocean view room. Everything at the PCP was fantastic. We were moved to this resort due to low occupancy or the CV scare....take your pick. This resort appears much nicer. However, our room has absolutely no view. The bell men can’t even find our room because they all look the same. 3 bellman have been lost. Unbelievable. When we finally got to our room, the room smells like feet, body odor, something horrible and the hotel won’t do anything about it. Assuming since we were moved from another resort....against our wishes mind you....we would have happily stayed where we booked. I’m so disappointed in this experience. I get it that you all have lost a ton of business due to the CV but treating your guests right that are still economically supporting you during this time would have been nice. Third time here, I won’t be back after this experience. This was your time to shine, you failed.....miserably.
Would be a 4 star if not for witnessing improper food handling and poor hygiene behaviors suring time of pandemic!
Great beach, nice vibe but what blew it for us was witnessing poor food handling at the main Buffett (worker grabbing a heap of prochuto meat with bare hands and duping it onto a serving plate, a cook using same tongs to handle raw and cooked meat, birds eating bread out of breads baskets - with workers watching and not doing much about it). Couldn't believe the number of workers giving high fives and shaking the hands of tourists just days afte covid-19 was declared a pandemic. Suggest management get their #%&$ together. All 4 of us got sick on our trip - now we know why.
