    Oversold, understaffed and outdated

    We are on day 2 of a 7 day vacation and I’m already over this place. Things have gone sideways since check-in, where we were told there wasn’t a room for us, despite having a reservation. They were going to put us up in their sister property, the Rose for one night. I said this was unacceptable. They offered two days of all-inclusive to comp. I still didn’t want the inconvenience of having to move after a day. Wasn’t worth the all-inclusive comp to me. Manager came over and explained there wasn’t nothing else to be done. Assured me we would enjoy the Rose. I’ll review that separately: let’s just say I’ve stayed at better airport hotels. Felt like we lost a full day of vacation, especially since we had to check out of the Rose at 11 and our room the next day at Sunset Beach wasn’t ready till 3, even though the day before I had expressed my concern over this gap in time lapse. So here we are, first full day at Sunset Beach, on the all-inclusive and at the main pool. Ordered drinks and it took an hour to get them. Let the waiter know we wanted to order food and he never came back. Waited half an hour and then went to the restaurant above the pool. Lots of uncleared tables, never saw a waiter. Waited 10 mins for somebody to come around before giving up and heading back to the pool. Decided to try our luck with a different area of the pool with a different assigned server. He took our order immediately. Now we will see how long it takes to get the food. It’s 2 now, been trying to order since noon. This is why I avoid all-Inclusives. Where is the incentive to provide service?

    LA CHOYA the BEST

    GREAT food! GREAT staff! Our favorite restaurant at the resort. Love the intimate atmosphere. So enjoyable.
