Main Resort in Need of Overhaul
Comments below, I rated it a 2 because in spite of the fact that restaurants are very good, pool staff is great, there are concerns: We have stayed at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach annually since 2018 and feel compelled to raise a concern that goes beyond a single visit or isolated inconvenience. Over the past several years—and now at an accelerating pace—we have observed what appears to be systemic maintenance deferral, with visible and growing impacts on both guest safety and overall quality. Specifically: • Exterior stairways, which are the primary pedestrian circulation routes due to the terrain, are crumbling throughout the resort • Stair railings are heavily rusted and unsafe — I was cut yesterday by a rusted railing • Guest rooms are tired and run down; mattresses appear broken down from prolonged use • Plumbing and electrical systems in many units feel overdue for modernization • Maintenance response is slow, seemingly due to understaffing • Front-line employees clearly understand guest frustration but have expressed fear of raising concerns internally due to potential retaliation What is most concerning is that this decline is occurring as prices continue to rise sharply, creating a widening gap between cost and delivered quality. We raise this not out of hostility, but out of long-term loyalty and concern for a resort we have valued for years. Deferred maintenance is not cosmetic—it becomes a safety issue, a staff morale issue, and ultimately a brand issue. We hope corporate leadership will take a serious look at conditions on the ground and reinvest accordingly, before avoidable deterioration becomes irreversible

Unexpected delight
When we first arrived, we were over whelmed with the size of the property and the vast amount of rooms and areas to stay. We were in the hill area building 23 with a wonderful view, large room is the executive 2 room suite, no hot tub. Once we were settled, it was easy to move round via golf carts that are always on the spot. Little waiting to get to where you need to be. The resort is spotless and very well kept. The pools are all very clean and the pool service right on. Towles are at the pools. The all inclusive is the way to go. Here are some tips: The Market Area is easy to get to and has a lot of food choices for you. Opens at 7am and has great breakfast choices. Only one main bar and then the sports bar opens around 5pm. Pizza is just ok. The 50"s has good food. Don't wait in line for a black coffee, there is a coffee station across from the coffee bar. Do not choose the Melina Food Spot, 5 bartenders doing nothing but gambling with cards and the food not good. All four days! The buffet is to be expected, no real desire after one visit. The best away from it all the the Bistro with great dinner menu. The best bar is the lobby bar with great views of the sunset. All employees are fantastic except in the Melina Bar. Be sure to call to get a cart when you check out too. Easy cabs available to the marina area. You can get a UBER back to resort from Cabo Wabo bar for 11.00. Always available. Little unknown, there is a casino in the marina mall, we did not go. Finally, we will be back to this resort! Great staff and management. Rooms are nice and affordable. Great Whale watching as well! Bring one's for tip money, it is appreciated at the resort.

Girls get away
Sunset resort is beautiful and a relaxing place to get away. Service at the main pool is the best. Our waiters Miguel Ojeda and Humberto took care of us for the week! Everyone is so friendly & personable. The only recommendation is the pool food needs upgrading. Not as good as it used to be.
