False Advertising, Dececeptive Not Tourist Friendly
My stay at Playabachata was a disaster from the start. Ny main reason for choosing this hotel was they offer the option of utilizing a wheelchair if necessary. I booked early and requested a wheelchair, two beds, and a ground floor room due to a medical condition (lymphedema) that makes walking painful. Despite this, I was told wheelchairs were only for emergencies, even though I saw several available. Our first room was far from the lobby, had only one bed, and the phone didn’t work. The 2nd room had the identical situation. After walking back and forth multiple times, we were given a third room—that one finally had 2 beds. Staff at reception were unhelpful and seemed indifferent to my needs. It felt like they catered more to locals residents than tourists. On the bright side, the dinner and bar staff were great. However, beware of the “special breakfast” pitch—it’s a timeshare-style presentation that wasted over two hours of our day. The hotel is older, mostly visited by Dominican guests, and the pool is not accessible for people with mobility issues. I’ve visited the Dominican Republic for 22 years—this was my worst hotel experience. I do not recommend Playabachata if comfort and accessibility matter to you. Reception is the Frontline to any hotel. They are responsible to be welcoming, accommodating and assure the guest is provided with the best service. If a hotel provides this type of service, it will assure the return of the guest. I personally will not return.

poor
went June 20 to 27 yes there are three sections to this resort , the coral section(vacant)where they have the quiet pool, middle (amber) section looked unoccupied, and the section to the west. this is the section all the locals and tourist stayed. 1. about 11 people got off the bus and checked in, no one took our luggage, we were handed our keys and a map , to try to find our rooms, well lighting makes even reading room number difficult. At least in Cuba they take u to the rooms 2. lots of locals always checking in and out day fills the lobby, which is the only place for wifi. 3 no beach bar long walk for any refreshment. 4. by the quiet pool nothing no activity no services just pool 5 buffet restaurant , sure plentiful and variety better than cuba but, everything seems to be cooked to order with long long wait for the main course 6 yes they have entertainment but its not in English. It caters to the local dominican 7 english speaking no very limited . It appears those with english are transferred to the senator which is a significantly but more costly choice 8 all restaurants have no windows so eating lunch high noon might get too hot. no closed in area except in your room 9 no hot water 10 yes lots of beach chair, they are left out but at least 50% have broken backs struts. At the Senator i think they are newer as evidenced by the different colour walked to Senator significantly better, worth the upgrade.
