Feb 11, 2026Great trip, Mariposa made it even better
We have been at this resort for 2 weeks. Everything has been great!! The entertainment during the day was so much fun. Mariposa is amazing, so friendly and welcoming. I am not one for games but she definitely made me change my mind.

12 th anniversary trip
This was our second time to this resort, we had a great time with know issues at all rooms we clean, food was great you have the buffet or you can do the snack bar, the weather was over good for the two weeks, also the activitys peronal are awesome like Madonna,butteryfly,sky,cholcolate

This is my honest review of the Playa Bachata hotel in Puerto Plata we stayed at this hotel January 19th through 28th and I would say it's satisfactory at best but here are a couple things that would prevent me from ever choosing this Resort again. As someone with mobility concerns I personally was highly disappointed in the pool situation. When I booked in October there were two pools available on both the site I booked on and on the playabachata site (which I still think has the "quieter pool" as people refer to it pool pictured on their main website page). It was a pool that appeared to be Mobility friendly which was a huge reason why I actually booked this Resort because I had seen pictures of the other pool and knew I could not get in and out of that properly. This actually proved to be a fact for me as the one day I got into the pool and when I went to get out of the pool I could not lift myself off the last rung of the ladder onto the pool deck, causing my left leg (my weaker side) leg to slip between the ladder and the pool wall I was on my back flopping around in the water when two other guests assisted me out of the situation and I went over to my bf and let him know that I could not get out of the pool. He then assisted me to out of the pool. From then on out we knew that I could not go to the pool on my own which was unfortunate because I often do go to the pool alone on vacation because the sun gets to my partner when he's in it too long. This exact thing happened once again a few days later when my partner was assisting me to get out of the pool when I slipped once again on my left weaker leg, and he couldn't pull me up from the deck other guests once again came along and assisted him in assisting me out of the pool both of these incidents caused me mild injuries that left me uncomfortable during my vacation the "quiet pool" closed in December, so between me booking and actually going to the resort. They offered no alternate Arrangement or made any attempt to make the only pool they have available more Mobility friendly for people. I don't think it would take much to buy a step in pool ladder at the very least. This was my biggest disappointment. Another negative for this Resort is there lack of Wi-Fi I can't understand this in 2026 when I've been to Cuba Resorts several years ago that had better wi-fi than they do there now, and with their sister Resort being able to offer Wi-Fi throughout makes no sense it's clearly done on purpose. I can't fathom why any Resort would do that because it's clearly not a selling feature, there are so many resorts out there that have Wi-Fi throughout. Another thing that I didn't really see many people mentioned during my research prior to booking or attending this Resort was the several but short lasting power outages another. On the plus side food is good and plentiful the grounds are kept immaculately clean there is somebody cleaning constantly everywhere I looked, beautiful scenery all around while at the beach, the room; again as most have stated definitely dated but was clean and a good size.
