Nov 12, 2025A Vacation for my Birthday with best Friends
We traveled to Planet Hollywood Costa Rica for my milestone birthday with good friends, Are checking was flawless only disappointment we had requested joining rooms and on the 3rd floor with beachfront views , 2 couples on the first floor and one couple on the 3rd floor,, Our Butler was excellent he made all the necessary dinner reservations thank you Steven. Beautiful hotel with nice, modern rooms perched on a cliff overlooking a gorgeous beach. However, burgers. we were expecting Guy Fieri, style burger but was disappointed , housekeeping was excellent our bed were turned over every morning and fresh towels were placed, The food at the various restaurants were good (a little salty) No Top Shelf liquor at Lobby Bar - they said it ran out - No black label scotch No Cognac, The Steakhouse was not the best. recommend the Star Service The Star Pool Employees were very attentive and the bartenders made our drinks with expertise.The servers were very efficient as well. The main Buffet foods were okay . The Star Breakfast in the Tex Mex was one of our favorite places to visit. servers were excellent. offered a quieter choice for a morning breakfast.

While this hotel certainly looked glamorous and was rated five star, unfortunately, I cannot agree. I was very disappointed by the check-in service as there was no one to help us to our room and when we got there the key pass didn't work so we had to walk all the way back to reception with our bags. In the rooms there was no complimentary coffee or tea provided. Again, we had to walk all the way to the main building where the coffee shop and the buffet was. Morning buffet was pretty sparse as well. Not like other resorts that we have been to.

Beautiful hotel, cheapened by poor quality food and service
This is a beautiful hotel with nice, modern rooms perched on a cliff overlooking a gorgeous beach. However, I will not be back due to the terrible food and the lousy service. There is an app to book dinner reservations at the restaurants, however all restaurants are booked up which leaves the buffet. The buffet food is bland, fried and carbohydrate heavy - more like what you would get in a cheap cafeteria. I ordered burgers at the pool restaurant for our party of 3 and after waiting 40 minutes, they gave me 1 burger and told me that I would need to put in another order and wait 40 more minutes to get 2 more burgers. Just as well, the burger was absolutely revolting. For an all inclusive luxury resort, you would expect to be able to find something reasonably tasty and healthy to eat - it is not like it is easy to leave the resort to find food. The service was also terrible, housekeeping didn't come during a 4 day stay and repeated requests for towels were ignored. The provided "entertainment" was a woman screaming in Spanish over really irritating and loud music which ruined the vibes at the pool. At the end of our stay, we just wanted to leave but security made us return to the check out desk, wait in a long line just to get an "exit ticket". Honestly! Never again!

When we travel we love trying the restaurants and going to dinner in the evening. It’s our favorite part. We arrived on Monday and were told we could not make reservations until we had our room at 3pm. At 3:30 we started trying to make reservations and there was NOT A SINGLE ONEwe could make for our 4 nights here. We went to the front desk and they said they would help. They called our room later and we only got a reservation for ONE night. I have been checking the app constantly and still ZERO availability, but magically the day we leave there are reservations at every restaurant every hour, pretty crazy how that is happening if you ask me…….Honestly this is false advertising, you can’t even eat dinner near here. If you want to eat dinner, don’t come here.

Nov 10, 2025Adventure filled relaxation !
We had a wonderful 5 day stay at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica. The resort provided amazing views, great hospitality, excellent food options, and an abundance of activity options. As Star Class members (highly recommended) we enjoyed the quieter member pool, fast access to bar service, discounts on excursions and support from our friendly and helpful personal butler Henry! For an all inclusive the food here was some of the best we have experienced. The bufet for breakfast had a ton of options. In our ranked order we enjoyed dinners at Italian, Japanese, Steakhouse, and TexMex. Only the TexMex was slightly disappointing. We would have chosen to repeat another restaurant since this cuisine isn’t our favorite but the other restaurants were “booked” basically instantly after we arrived. That shouldn’t take away from the quality of the food for a Latin America all inclusive - it was very good. We arranged two excursions through Nexus Travel on site. 1) all day “mega adventure” including horseback riding, zip lines, volcanic hotsprings, Costa Rica’s longest water slide through the jungle and more. It was very well run and a great way to see some local culture. 2) Jet ski tour along the coast was an AMAZING time. You see up close the beautiful Costa Rican coast, explore caves, snorkel, and have a ton of run for 90 minutes of jet skis. The staff was great! Ask for Henry if you are Star Class - he’s a great assistant! (One last heads up - the resort is on STEEP hills. They have carts running regularly to shuttle you up and down - but be ready to exercise your legs if you want to walk around the resort)
