Jan 11, 2026The Best Resort for Family's, Nature Lovers, and Relaxing Day Trips
*Do not sleep on Ranger Rob activities at this beautiful resort* The mornings we started with the included breakfast buffet, btw thank you to the hardworking omelet station as well as everyone in that kitchen and serving delicious waffles and more, then we took the free 9am Nature Walk on the beach. There we learned from Rob about shells, the waters surrounding, and the local wildlife of which he had an encyclopedic knowledge of. It also helped us walk off a big meal before continuing the day at the warm Octopool or white sands beach. Our 8 year old Jr Ranger helped find wildlife for the complimentary 1pm Critter Connection twice during our stay while our 2 year took her afternoon nap. On other days they would take the free tram in front of Pink Shell to Fort Myers Beach with him or they would wonder over to Bowditch to walk around the beach and trees. On our last day we did the Sunrise Kayak tour with Ranger Rob, and it was such a highlight to our trip. The four of us, with absolutely no experience in a boat, managed to make our way around the bay with guidance and humor from Rob. We saw birds up close on the water, and a hammerhead shark and dolphin from farther away, totally fine by me. I really appreciated Pink Shell for providing rooms with washer/dryer, full kitchen, and daily cleaning and fresh towels. The location was unbeatable, off the main drag but super close to great day trips to Sanibel/Captiva and more. Kind and thoughtful staff that was never intrusive and allowed us an extra hour checking out for our napping little.

Our favorite place keeps getting betteyear.
We come to the Pink shell each year, typicall for thanksgiving , but did it for New Years this year and have had the best day with my family and 2 cousins who live in the city of ft Myers and rented a timeshare down from our hotel. Let me start by saying the breakfast buffet is top,notch with a gentleman who makes he best omelette see ever had, so afraid some day he will be on vacation when we go- he is a an omlette master and takes pride in his work- no easy task as he is busy the entire time. Bring a few dollars to tip this fine gentleman! We look forward to see him as much as seeing the ocean! Our room is perfect overlooking the pool

Definitely a winner!
Family of 4 with college kids LOVED Pink Shell. First time to this area, stayed 5 nights. So comfortable and beautiful and friendly. I wish I knew about this resort when the kids were little! Ranger Rob was fantastic, and I am going to recommend to all of my friends with little ones to look at this place as a return destination. I went on all the beach walks with Ranger Rob and so many kids were so excited about slowing down, looking around, being curious, asking questions, learning about nature and marine life, the importance of taking care of the ocean, picking up garbage dangerous to sealife, using less plastic, all in a non preachy, easily accessible way by RR. He was super patient and very engaging with the little ones. There is a shell washing station with a map to name all of your shells, a nature hut to learn about all the different species of wildlife that could be seen if you look! Games to play as a family. Really wonderful staff, always smiling, greeting you. We stayed in Captiva 1 bedroom with 2 queen beds. Spacious, kitchenette was perfect, lanai was spacious and beautiful to read, enjoy the ocean view, have breakfast/coffee. Easy self parking in Captiva. Loved the wristbands which opened doors/gates/laundry room/gym. The towels, beach chair/umbrella set ups, incredible breakfast, activities, free kayaks with staff helping to launch you, free bicycles and of course ranger rob especially was worth the "resort fee". 3 Heated pools and 2 hot tubs were very clean, did not feel crowded, always got a chair. love the adult only pool, and the octopool for families with little kids was so fun looking with ocean themes and great music. Rooms were cleaned about every 2 days or whenever you asked for it. they texted me every time I used my do not disturb sign and asked if they could get me anything. The kitchenette had basic pots and pans, dishes, cutlery, knives, dishwashing detergent. Helpful to have the toilet separate from sink/shower/bathtub so more than 1 person could use it. There is free washer/dryer (1 set) on the floor and they gave us detergent. So helpful! We had such a wonderful restful time. They did not leave out any details! Given the wonderful nature focus, I was surprised by how much plastic/straws they use, but maybe that will change.

Go for Ranger Rob, and much more!
We just got back from a week at the Pink Shell. The number one reason we went there was because of all the great things I heard about Ranger Rob. We were two grandparents, 4 parents and 3 boys aged 8-11, and I knew that the boys would be kept busy and happy. Ranger Rob absolutely lived up to his reputation. We did the beach walk with him, and attended one of his critter connections. Five of us also did his kayaking trip. He is great with all the kids, extremely knowledgeable and very enthusiastic about teaching kids without it feeling like a lecture. I also want to give a shout out to Mercy at Jack's. She is exceedingly friendly and even remembered our breakfast drink order from day to day. All of the employees at Pink Shell go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay. During our week, Ranger Rob and Mercy were over the top!! Thanks!

Excellent excellent excellent.
Excellent location, fantastic service. Very good breakfast. Elevators very slow. Breathtaking views, walk to the beach, beach chairs, umbrellas and towels at your service. Paddle boarding and kayaking. Plenty of parking. Free trolley service around.
