Fantastic hotel
Loved the hotel, clean and the room was really nice (master suite w/ swim up). Buffet is somewhat limited, some stuff was dry at times, but food was good overall. A la Carte options were good too. We did family concierge and had Fransua, he was very good. If we go back we’d request him again, anyone considering concierge should ask for him; he goes above and beyond. We definitely recommend this hotel!

Wonderful Spa and Resort
I had an amazing time at this resort the food and top shelf liquor was amazing! The swim out pool we had was great! And I really enjoyed my massage at the Maia spa. Elizabeth was absolutely wonderful and I would recommend getting a massage and facial from her. If I ever come back to this hotel, I will most definitely be booking an appointment with her! She was so sweet and talented. All the staff were so kind to my friends and family.

COME HERE TO STARVE YOURSELF.
I am writing this review from my room at the resort because I feel compelled to warn others immediately. This has been, without exaggeration, the most frustrating all-inclusive experience of my life. We are here with a large group, and the problems began the moment we arrived. It took our party over two hours to check-in. After finally getting our keys, we discovered one of our rooms had a completely non-functional AC. The heat was unbearable and it took several hours of complaining before it was finally fixed. Exhausted and hungry from traveling, we went to get dinner. To our disbelief, no indoor restaurants were open. The only option was the outdoor buffet. We were forced to eat in the incredibly hot, humid weather while a concert-loudness music show blasted right next to us. It was so loud we couldn't even hold a conversation. We literally could not bear it and left without eating our first night. Hoping for a better experience, we tried to book reservations at the à la carte restaurants for the rest of our stay. We were then told that every single restaurant is fully booked for all 8 days of our stay. Let me be clear: we cannot get a single reservation at any specialty restaurant for our entire 8-day vacation. The staff's response was essentially a shrug, saying they are full. I have been to over 20 all-inclusive resorts in my lifetime, and this is a first. It is utterly ridiculous and unacceptable. How do you host guests for over a week and provide them with no dining options beyond the loud, hot, repetitive buffet? We are trapped here. If they offered a refund, I would pack my bags and go to another resort tomorrow. I will never, ever come back here and I strongly recommend you look elsewhere. DO NOT COME. AVOID!!!!

Prejudice Staff Mistreated Guests
I am a dark skinned black American and I came to the Paradisus Grand Cana for a family vacation. I experienced such prejudice and racism from the staff and by the end of my 5 day vacation, they had nearly broke my spirit. The lack of hospitality and human decency was subtle with unfulfilled drink and food orders, waiters throwing trash in my plate as Im eating, to female staff rolling their eyes at me and then giving the next less, melaninated person warm greetings. At first, I was drinking and brushed it off but by day 3 of the same treatment I sobered up and started getting pissed off. I will never return to this place nor give this island any more of my money. On top of that, I couldn't even get in the ocean because seaweed/mud was blocking the shore, which was a 10min golf cart ride from resort. Worst vacation ever. If you are dark skinned avoid this resort because they will take your $, mistreat you, leave you stranded at the airport, and taunt you your entire vacation. SHOULD BE RATED ZERO STARS

Bad service
If you have statyed at several 5 star resorts you will be disappointed. The hotel needs renovations on certain places. Staff is not overly friendly and sometimes straight out rude. We had the unfortunate incident to have a water leak from jacuzzi above, resulting in dirty water dripping down on our terass all day (feedback from Melia is that this is a normal cleaning incident (?)) and we sleep in a room next to a beeping ice machine. We complained about the noise several times but it came back. Since apparently Melia didn’t take any records on our verbal complaints they can not compensate us (had a hard time sleeping). Convenient approach for the hotel!! Melia also tries to make guests sign up for their loyalty membership club. They make real sales pitches (commissions are very obvious) and when we read the fine print they had told us wrong information twice even though we asked the same question. Being from Europe I am not comfortable with salespeople in the hotel trying to sign you up for your next vacation. And definitely not if you cannot trust them. Sorry Melia this was our last time traveling to your resorts. The bad after action service from you took away all joy! Too bad because I really wanted to like the place. But I’m sure a great resort for someone less detailed oriented.
