  Amazing holiday already booked return

  Had an amazing time at the ocean maya royal, the hotel is beautiful and so well looked after. All of the staff were amazing especially the experience team Ken was hilarious are always made us feel welcome and included no maters the time of day and what was going on he was always giving 110% as well as the rest of the team Bibi, Juan, Alejandro, cheeky baby, mamacita, Victor, Moses and Margarita (queen of excursions). We really enjoyed all of the restaurants on the hotel will all of the food tasting so fresh especially in the Japanese. I would say we would go back but we have already booked our return for next year!!!

  Best Hostess ever

  Zaire was the best ever if you go here you won’t want to leave. The food is amazing and the people are great Zaire was our hostess she was amazing, attentive and had such a great personality and attitude I will be coming back because of her .!!!!!!!!

  Great first all-inclusive experience!

  We just spent our honeymoon here, and the resort did not disappoint! The food was excellent, with various cuisine options available for dining. The gluten free options available are satisfactory, with most establishments having at least one option. We recommend increasing the GF options however and ensuring clear communication regarding what options are available. We were told that Dolce Vita offered GF pizza, however upon sitting down to order they said we’d have to give them 24 hrs notice. Secondly, we were told that the nachos at the sports bar were GF, but the server told us this was not the case while dining. The staff were very helpful, especially our butler Fabian and privilege staff Jesus and Jorge. The beach area did have a bit of a foul odour earlier in our trip due to the ongoing sargassum situation in the area (and the beach/water was in poor condition), however the staff were quick to address it and the conditions improved significantly for the back half of the trip. The trip was made complete with the privilege reservation option, and we enjoyed the added bonuses this provided. Coatis and raccoons frequent the common areas around Dolce Vita and pool area, particularly at dawn and dusk - this was a fun part of our experience but other’s may not be so thrilled. The resort is a nice size and it’s easy to walk from one end to the other within 3-5 minutes. Adults-only resort-type was also appreciated! We would return and definitely recommend!

  Totally amazing place

  We have just arrived back and this is a true and honest review ... Check in was ok took around 10 mins , we was then shown to our room ,our room was lovely we stayed in block 27 which was perfect for the beach ,pools(2 mins) and the main resturant and reception area (4 mins). The grounds are stunning and are kept upto a fantastic standard, the pools are lovely, the bigger pool with the bridge was the quite pool , the smaller one was the more lively one, the beach is literally 10 steps from the pools, we wasnt really effected by the seaweed out of 11 nights we only couldnt swim in the sea on 2 of them, they work so hard to remove all the seaweed. We found the food to be really good , fantastic breakfast with so many options even the most picky can find plenty to eat , the themed nights were ok but not fantastic.we tried the japanese, the italian and the mexican resturants all were great, the sports bar has 2 menus both great and brill air con a massive shout out to Marcelo (mike) and his trainee your both legends and never forget your drinks and always smiling .. Mikes coffee shop is amazing who doesnt like fantastic free unlimited coffees,teas,smoothies and snacks nd service with a smile ..the entartainment staff were great,left you alone if you didnt want to engage but lots of fun if you did .i now need to mention the most amazing KENDAL, you truly are the most lovely amazing man,your a dream maker and you give more of yourself then you realise, you totally make the hotel a better place and it wouldnt be the same without you, you go the extra mile every day,from making bracelets,to your totally fab aqua aerobics,mexican bingo the list goes on ..we'll miss you and your infectious smile...we honestley cant find any big faults with the hotel ,we loved the whole layout of the grounds and building and the animals are lovely to watch , my husbands a smoker and he wasnt put off with only having 2 designated smoking spots. 2 little grumbles , please put salt and pepper on the tables so you dont have to repeatedly go asking for it and the pool needs to be cleaned ealry before the guests arrive in a morning not while were swimming in it , the pool maintenance guy we found to be really rude but he didnt impact our holiday. We didnt feel the need to upgrade to the privelidge and we was never asked to do so ,cocktails and drinks were great and all staff were amazing , please bring plenty of $1 for tips .Would we go back YES in a heartbeat. To the management you really need to make sure you keep kendal he is so loved by all the guest xxx

  Set your expectations low and you’ll not be disappointed

  Don’t set your expectations too high and you won’t be disappointed! Don’t get me wrong the Staff are amazing well with the exception of front of house who are disinterested at best. The entertainment team are amazing and Kenddell definitely deserves a raise he gives 110% all the time. The food is very hit and miss with the best being ok and the worst very poor. The steaks in the French restaurant were frozen steaks just mush with no flavour. The Italian was ok most of the time. The Teppanyaki was good however good luck getting a booking. We had to move rooms due to the air con failing and were offered nothing to compensate for the lower grade room for 12 of the 14 nights we were here. The TUI rep promises the world and fails to deliver. Still no email back after 10 days! The Hotel is definitely not 5* it may just meet 3* requirements. The ATM advertised as an amenity on site has not been working for months according to the TUI rep so if you don’t bring plenty of cash you will have to go to playa del carmen to get some! The Hotel taxi’s are extortionate (1000 peso for a return trip) however there is an app called iDrive where it’s around 160 peso each way. The on site shop is a monopoly and charges are really high. Mozzie spray and bite cream will set you back over £60! Make sure you pack some!
