Upon our arrival and check-in, we found the front desk representative was unfriendly and abrupt. We let that pass and getting to the room with the porters was fine. The room itself was okay, but a little tired looking. The grounds were very nice and the beach was great. The hunt for chairs in the shade at the beach was ongoing, but I gather that is common at many all inclusive resorts. It was still frustrating. Although the pool area was nice, the loud music got tiresome. For the cleanliness of the room, it was great when we first arrived. The daily cleaning done was underwhelming, even though we left a daily tip. We had to ask each day to have our water restocked and had to hunt for staff to provide that. My biggest issue was the food. I have celiac disease and although you are asked about food allergies there seems to be very little effort to have safe food readily available. -Villa Marina had nothing I could eat off of the buffet. I spoke to Wendi and he was a god sent as he would prepare me anything I wanted. Wonderful man!! My only issue is that by time I received my food, my family had completed eating theirs. -Al' a Carte restaurants - I found in most of these the menus were marked and the staff very helpful. Only complaint, there is absolutely nothing for dessert that is gluten free. -La Tortuga - this is a large buffet. They ask you about allergies when you come in, but then nothing is done with that information. On the buffet, nothing is marked for allergens. First visit, I spoke to a chef and he was helpful and cooked something else for me. That was great, but once again my family ate without me as I had to wait over 20 minutes for my food. Subsequent visits, I could not find someone to talk to and when I did there was a language barrier although I tried my best to use a translator app to help. (Please note that I was doing my best with my limited Spanish). As there are only 2 restaurants open for breakfast and lunch we had to come here daily. It was exhausting trying to get help, so I ended up eating the same thing every day. I highly recommend that this restaurant mark all of the buffet items with allergens and arrange the different areas to minimize the potential for cross contamination by the use on tongs or spoons. If I came to the Dominican again, I would try a different resort.

A big mess!
Room not ready Wrong room Under stocked fridge Tv not working Warm beer in room This is a 5 star hotel? We tried to upgrade our room before we found out they gave us a double. Didn’t find out until we actually went to the room. Will come back with another review if things get better tomorrow.

Not impressed and did not take care of us.
We had a leak and the room smelled. Right away we noticed the wet floor and water coming up between laminate flooring and a bad smell. We reported it many times. They would send someone either to clean or give us towels. Kept telling us they would move us. It started to drip from the ceiling after the first time we showered. Continued to worsen and run down the walls. 3 days passed into our vacation before they moved us. We walked around with a wet floor and dripping water from the ceiling for 3 days of our vacation. Not impressed with the rest of the resort. Staff is not friendly. No compensation for the 3 days. Will not be back.
