Worst Experience - Not worth the money
What was supposed to be a relaxing vacation at Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort turned into one of the most disappointing and frustrating trips I’ve ever taken. From the moment we arrived, we encountered poor service, rude staff, cleanliness issues, and an overall lack of professionalism that completely ruined our stay. Our booking specifically requested a king-size bed, but we were given a room with two doubles without any explanation. When we politely tried to resolve it, the first staff member was dismissive and rude, refusing to even check availability. Another later told us, “I don’t sell beds, I sell rooms,” which was both unhelpful and unprofessional. Communication and basic courtesy were sorely lacking. Throughout our stay, it became clear that English-speaking guests were treated as second-class visitors. Staff consistently favoured Spanish-speaking guests, offering them friendlier service, faster attention, and even extra privileges we were denied. At one point, an attendant refused to let us play a second round of bowling but allowed the Spanish-speaking group beside us to continue without issue. Most staff refused to speak English at all, and entertainment was conducted exclusively in Spanish, leaving non-Spanish-speaking guests excluded. The buffet experience was equally disappointing. We were often seated at dirty tables with no cutlery or glasses and had to repeatedly ask for basic items like water or coffee. Some staff ignored us entirely, while others displayed visible annoyance when we asked for help. On our final night, we struggled to find a clean table, and dishes piled up because no one returned to serve or clear them. Cleanliness in the rooms was also unacceptable. I found a toenail clipping on the floor, the air conditioner didn’t work properly, and housekeeping skipped our room completely one day despite a tip and request for fresh towels. It took over an hour and a half just to receive bottled water after calling reception. The resort’s smoking policy is misleading - guests smoked everywhere, including around and even in the pool, and staff did nothing to enforce designated areas. To make matters worse, one of the two pools was drained mid-stay with no warning, leaving the remaining pool overcrowded. We also experienced a complete lack of respect for privacy: a staff member entered our room unannounced to hang a pest control notice, and pest control arrived earlier than stated the next day. One staff member even publicly scolded my boyfriend for “not speaking Spanish,” which was humiliating and completely inappropriate. The only positives were a kind waitress named Argentina and the bartender at the sports bar, who were genuinely friendly and professional. Unfortunately, they were the rare exceptions. While the property itself is large and visually appealing, the poor service, discrimination toward non-Spanish-speaking guests, and lack of cleanliness make this resort one to avoid. For the price we paid, the experience was unacceptable. I would not recommend Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort to anyone looking for a relaxing or enjoyable vacation.

An enjoyable resort
Daniel De La Rosa, Rayner Guerrero, and Carlos Charles are an excellent team at the Privilege pool. They will keep your towels fresh and your drinks flowing. Carlos made us feel at home. A very hard worker, and I'm very pleased to have met him. Rayner will keep your spirits up and make you any special drink you want. Daniel will keep you fed poolside while keeping your drinks topped off. Hugo is by far the best bartender at the resort. You can find him in the Sports bar, dancing behind the bar, hustling drinks to make sure everyone is having a wonderful time. Great team, great vibes.

fantastic experience!
We had a fantastic experience! A huge thank you to Victor, the Manager, and Pedro, another wonderful manager, for their outstanding hospitality. Our concierge, Derlin, was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. Special shout out to Daniel and Reynar at the Privilege Pool area for their exceptional customer service — they truly went above and beyond to make our time memorable. Overall, everything was absolutely amazing. We were a group of 18 adults and 1 child, and every single one of us had a great time. Thank you for making our trip so special!

Really Good Food - Clean Hotel - Needs better Customer Service.
The Good - Clean Hotel, Excellent food Variety; the buffet was always filled with lots of options. The Beach Bar Food was amazing! The Beach was always clean and free of seaweed. The Bad - Inconsistent Customer Service. Beyond inconsistent. My advice is to retrain your entire staff. The Looby staff was amazing and pleasant. But other staff members made it their mission to be unhelpful. "Staff, get over your internal politics" we are all brothers and sisters. The people you hate today, were doing commerce with your ancestors yesterday. I'm not asking you to understand the Spanish Inquisition, but you should know the history of the DR and the surroundings Islands. look to Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana as an example of excellent customer service. Every position in a hotel is a CUSTOMER FACING POSITION! Keep this in the forefront of your day-to-day operation.

Extremely disappointed
Stayed for 10 days, party of 4 so two separate rooms, our room was damp and smelled musty, drawers were broken, no rail to hang clothes in wardrobe, wooden flooring throughout was split, ceiling fan was hanging off the ceiling (reported and screwed back up the next day), plug sockets had come away from the wall. Other room, moisture dripping from the ceiling onto beds, air conditioning broken so only one setting (ice cold), sockets hanging off the wall with wires exposed. Extra blankets requested 4 times for this room and ignored each time. All of our clothes, belongings and suitcases ended up damp and smelly. Food, absolutely awful, most of it was lukewarm when you put it on your plate so stone cold by the time you sat down to eat it, 2 out of the 4 of us ended up with food poisoning on day 6 ruining their time left there, trips they had booked and made the 8 hour flight home an awful experience. Spa closed for maintenance, certain restaurants closed randomly, one pool closed the entire 10 days we were there so people struggled to get space around the only pool open, pool was crammed with children on inflatables, people playing water sports, people trying to get drinks from the swim up bar. Restaurants are extremely difficult to book because unless you book your stay directly with the hotel and pay to be a privilege guest you can’t get in anywhere because they are already full with privilege guests, you also can’t have certain drinks at the bar unless you are a privilege guest. Paid just under £1,900 each for all inclusive and couldn’t wait to get home.
