This was our 2nd time at this resort, it’s perfect for us. We will definitely be back! The staff is awesome, the food is good and the rooms are comfortable!

Been to several Barcelo properties and shocked this is owned by Barcelo, have never been so disappointed. Room was absolutely dated and dirty. Windows, bathroom shower doors, floors, walls, toilet and so on. Very gross, found two dead cockroaches one right on top of the safe. Cold shower too. They gave us a different room the next day, better but still dated and still cold showers. All the seats/chairs throughout are dirty and old. Pools need repair. Food was so piss poor. Even in the specialty restaurants. Bars don’t open until 11:00 am. Latest opening I’ve ever been to. Usually the main bar will open at 8:00am. We were on vacation, lol. The view from the room was amazing! The staff all throughout were amazing! Beach was amazing! Unfortunately we will never be back and second guessing Barcelo overall. Premium level lacks.

My personal love: Claraboya restaurant at Occidental Tucancun
Second year I am coming to this hotel with my family. What can I say - amazing place, experience and the best team. My personal favorite was Claraboya restaurant, I love seafood. This place, claraboya offers an unforgettable experience. Huge thanks to the capitana Jessica, the Chef José Tzec and our waiter Tomás. Your dedication to bringing an utmost dining experience is truly remarkable. You have elevated my expectations to perfection in service. Thank you so much for this amazing dinner.

Great service and friendly staff. The hotel is a bit dated, but it has it's charm. The beach is amazing, and that is what we came for.

Staff and management were excellent
Location & Beach: Great location. The beach itself is beautiful, but swimming is only allowed in flagged areas — likely for safety and liability reasons — which limited how much of the water we could actually enjoy. Proximity & Property: About two miles from Cancún’s nightlife, so it’s a short drive if you want to explore. The resort is all-inclusive and well maintained, with nice grounds and facilities. Rooms: The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. However, we did have to move twice — one room flooded during a rainstorm, and another had no hot water. The TV in our final room didn’t work, though that wasn’t a big deal since we weren’t there to watch TV. Food: Buffet food was hit or miss — nothing amazing, but plenty of variety. The à la carte restaurants were better, with some dishes easily rating between 6–8 out of 10 depending on the course. Staff: Outstanding service all around. Every staff member we interacted with was professional, helpful, and genuinely kind. They were truly the best part of our stay. Entertainment: There was live music at the bar, which was pleasant and enjoyable. The evening shows included “Three Tenors,” two karaoke nights, a magician, and a Michael Jackson tribute. The tenors were entertaining; the rest, not really my thing. The MJ tribute was especially weak — a few good dancers, but the impersonator and makeup were pretty rough. Sales Pitch: I was asked to attend a sales presentation, which I didn’t appreciate. Being pressured to sit through a pitch isn’t relaxing — “no” should mean no when you’re on vacation. Excursions: The concierge arranged tours to Tulum and Chichén Itzá, both of which were excellent and highly recommended.
