General Policies & Fine Print
Check-in Policy - Hotel requires a credit/debit card authorization or cash deposit upon check-in for incidentals; this will place a hold on your funds.
Convention Policy - Individuals attending a convention cannot book this property for their stay. If found attending a convention, guests may be subject to higher room rates upon arrival.
Hotel Spring Break Policy - The hotel will not accept any Spring Break groups. If the hotel does make an exception the following policy will be strictly applied: Students / youth are considered by the hotel as anyone between 16 and 23 years old. They will be required to sign a responsibility letter agreeing to leave the hotel if there is a disruption. Upon check in each student / youth will be required to leave cash deposit of $400 per person - no exceptions and cash only. Minimum age requirement for hotel check in is 18. Any guests under the age of 18 will require a chaperone. 1 chaperone is required per 3 students / youth under the age of 18. Minimum age for a chaperone is 28.
Legal drinking age in the DR is 18. Any guests under 18 will be given a wrist band that will not allow them to have access to alcohol at any venue and will also not allow them in the disco. All guests are required to wear wristbands. The cost for a lost wristband is $250 - no exceptions. The hotel does reserve the right to ask any student / youth to check out of the property if the hotel policies are not fulfilled without the right to a refund for the remaining nights of the reservation.
Transfer Policy - A price may display when children stay free, if your vacation includes transfer to your hotel.
General Information - Room taxes and service fees are included in vacation price.

***Important Information for our guests***
The Dominican Republic imposes various restrictions each year for Easter. The restrictions usually begin the Thursday prior to Good Friday, and run a few days past Easter Sunday. The following regulations may be enforced:
*Motorized watersports may be banned
*Non-motorized water sports may be limited, or banned
*Alcohol consumption may be restricted (most resorts obtain a special permit which enables them to serve alcohol to nonnative persons during the ban)
*Music may be limited or silenced
These guidelines are currently vague because actual enforcement by the local government does vary greatly from one year to the next. Each year the actual policies are not published by the local authorities until just prior to Easter. These rules are designed for the safety of everyone, as beaches get extremely busy during this period.

The resort meant well
Our stay for four nights was an infrequent experience. It was an all inclusive hotel so all meals are provided. The staff tries to help each time but they look overtired, they mean well though. The other (especially the younger i mean teenager ones) guests could destroy the experience which is independent from the resort property. Apart from that, The beach is beautiful.
Not a Happy Mother's day- May 2019
I went to the Occidental Caribe Hotel with my parents and kids on Mother's day. The mattress on sofa bed didn't have anything (no blankets,sheets,cover) and it was broken. I called the first night and was told they were going to bring a new bed. However, we waited all night and we had to sleep on the floor. since nobody came to our room. We called in the morning and finally in the afternoon they put in a twin bed. Also, we let them know that the living room didn't have any TV ( as stated in the room description- 2 x 42" LCD TV). Therefore, the kids had to be in our bedroom in order to watch TV. In addition , since we booked a Premium Level Suite. we were entitled to receive the following: welcome gift A gift voucher worth 5% to spend during your stay Discounts of up to 10% off your next bookings Yet, we never received none of the above. It wasn't how I expected to spend mother's day with my family. We were told they were going to inform management but we never received a call back or an explanation. Therefore we directly contacted management of Occidental Caribe Hotel. They denied any wrong doings and said it wasn't reported. When we replied with evidence,pictures, phone calls and whom it was reported to, we were ignored and didn't receive any reply. We had to deal with all the issues in the resort. Now, we have to deal with the insults by them calling us liars. Therefore we sent an email to the parent company Barceló Hotels & Resorts. They said they will give us preferential rate with our Premium services for a future stay, and to guarantee you the vacations that you deserve. However, I compared the price they were offering us with the rates online. It seems the preferential rate was really inflated and overpriced. I had a feeling we were being deceived again and checked to confirm the truth.
Very nice resort but not well run
As most PC resorts, it is out of any urban area. Taxis costs a lot to go out or to the airport, like New York or London fares! The resort itself is well maintained, and the facilities are good with excellent rooms. The staff however are not well trained especially the reception. They barely care about visitors requests and just shrug them off. Chaotic lineups at the reception during high seasons, just to get a key. It is an all inclusive resort but doesn't include Wifi anywhere, in the rooms or any facilities.
Dirty and loud
Room was very dirty with mold and bathroom was dirty (I have pictures of all of it )and resort was loud at night and front seat didn’t seem to care. Food was the same day after day. Pool wasn’t the cleanest but we had a few windy days and was just a lot of stuff floating around the pool
Worst Experience I have had
I think that this is possibly the worst hotel that I have ever been at. Every single day of our four nights that we stayed, we had to call for extra towels and call multiple times in that regard. One day our room was not made, and I called the desk 5 times over 5 hours, and ultimately was told that it could not be made. The staff member said that even though the cleaning staff would be unable to clean due to the time, he would send new towels and sheets. Even that request was ignored. Even when the room was cleaned there was still sand left on the tile floor. Bar staff were rude, and repeatedly spoke insults in spanish to customers who they believed could not understand them. Food had no labels as to what it included, making the resort very unfriendly to vegetarians. Their ‘open room mini-bar’ consisted of a not very cold fridge filled with 2 sodas, a juice, and 2 beers that we asked to be filled because it was not ready when we came in. Hot tub was not hot whatsoever and the water was plain unsanitary. Restaurants were not open as advertised. Two days in a row we went to the pizza place for lunch and were informed that it was closed and given no reason to the contrary. The water sports place, did not loan out the free boogie boards to 'water conditions' however both the neighboring resorts were renting out the boogie boards. Despite the perceived 'bad water conditions' paid attractions were still available. I would not recommend. I am usually not an unkind person and am empathetic of mistakes. However Occidental Caribe repeatedly made mistakes and showed little kindness or effort to correct them.
