    Mold, blood, food poisoning

Our first room, which was not ready by check in time, had blood stains and a dead bug in the bed, mold in the shower, along with dirty old food on the coffee mugs. We had food poisoning our second to last day and are still recovering 5 days after being home. I reported it to the hotel, they sent up a doctor, and the doctor tried to charge me $100 just for the consult, and said if I called again it would be $200. There was wet paint everywhere and 3 articles of clothing were ruined. All 3 still had paint after laundering. The casino, which we chose this resort for, consisted of only 1 open table game, and only 14 slot machines. As people who work in casinos, we were extremely disappointed. There was a maximum of $1,000 pay out, which negates the fun in playing and spending a lot of money. Many of the daily activities were done early/late and in different locations than specified so we kept missing them, causing frustration in our daily planning. Our “butler” stated this was the norm. There weren’t enough pool/beach chairs for the guests. When I asked Guest Services, after waiting 15 minutes, for a recommendation on going into town and shopping she said she didn’t know and couldn’t give me a recommendation. I would not recommend this resort. I gave this location 2 stars because the beach was well kept, the pool was beautiful, and our butler, Jose, was incredible, as well as “Minnie” the activities director.

    Disappointing

Several staff members were kind and did their best to assist us, which we appreciated. Our first room had visible mold in the shower, broken fixtures, and appeared not to have been properly cleaned. It took more than six hours to arrange a room change. The second room cost an additional $300 USD and, while slightly improved, still had multiple issues — a broken coffee maker, patio doors that were extremely difficult to open, a dirty toilet and shower, and very poor water pressure. Overall, it was quite frustrating. Noise was also a significant problem. For the first four nights, neighbouring guests played loud music and shouted throughout the night. After they left, new neighbours arrived with very young children, which continued to disrupt what we had hoped would be a relaxing stay. The food was average at best, and the coffee was not enjoyable. Additionally, guests who do not speak Spanish may find communication challenging at times. Overall, due to the cleanliness concerns, maintenance issues, and ongoing noise disturbances, I would not recommend this place.

Not a place to come if you want any relaxation h

Hotel rooms need repairs. Broken lamps, leaking showers, Dirty bathrooms. Has Blue Flag status however the beach has a lot of garbage from guests. Sliding doors are in need of repair. Group of 12 and each room has issues. Walls are very thin and noise travels. Staff are great.

    ***Important Information for our guests***
The Dominican Republic imposes various restrictions each year for Easter.  The restrictions usually begin the Thursday prior to Good Friday, and run a few days past Easter Sunday.  The following regulations may be enforced:
    *Motorized watersports may be banned
*Non-motorized water sports may be limited, or banned
*Alcohol consumption may be restricted  (most resorts obtain a special permit which enables them to serve alcohol to nonnative persons during the ban)
*Music may be limited or silenced

These guidelines are currently vague because actual enforcement by the local government does vary greatly from one year to the next.  Each year the actual policies are not published by the local authorities until just prior to Easter.  These rules are designed for the safety of everyone, as beaches get extremely busy during this period.
