Do not stay here if you are Diabetic

I'm still at the resort and I can't describe how bad things are going with words. First, our room is a disaster. The sliding doors to our balcony won't work unless you're a Tug-O-War gold medalist. The water smells terrible. Our air conditioning is leaking condensate all over our bathroom. Kudos to the cleaning staff who are doing their best to take care of us. We really hope they get to keep the tips we leave to themselves. Second... It was either bad shrimp in the Paris restaurant, or the fact that many of the plates/food make you smell like fish after eating even when you haven't eaten fish. One of these things made me have the worst craps/puking fits I've ever had in my life for the past couple of days. And if you're asking if it could be something else, we had not travelled anywhere outside of this resort. And buying a single Alka Selzer tab costs you $1 USD to help fix a health problem THIS RESORT created. Finally, and the thing that really puts this trip in the books as the worst disrespect I have ever experienced, is the fact that I am diabetic and have to watch my sugars. It is like pulling teeth to get ANY KIND OF DIET SODA for either drinking on it's own, or with one of the many spirits the offer, but only to people who drink sugar. SO MANY TIMES I HAVE BEEN TOLD 'WE DO NOT HAVE THAT RIGHT NOW' when asking for Coke Zero... at least half the time I have tried to have just Coke Zero at the very least while all my friends are drinking wine or spirits. Bottom line, IF YOU ARE DIABETIC, DO NOT GO TO THIS RESORT!!! It is NOT all inclusive. I normally do not go to this extreme to complain about anything, but this is by far the worst resort I have ever attended. If you are saving a couple hundred a person by staying here, please reconsider. There are more things than this... these were just the issues that should have been a minimum to expect to be better. I have 4 more days at this place and I can't wait to get back to the freezing cold weather, yet respectful Canadian hospitality. So disappointed.

Occidental Caribe is the place to go in Punta Cana.

I recently booked a vacation to Occidental Caribe(our 5th time there) and made an error with the dates. I reached out to the Customer Service Team and they all were very helpul and went out of their way to correct the dates and rebook our trip.I want to thank them very much.We always have a great time there and also in every Barcelo resort we have stayed in over the years.Spain,Morocco, and Mexico are a few.Stick with them and you will get the best treatment to make your trip the pleasure it is supposed to be.

    ***Important Information for our guests***
The Dominican Republic imposes various restrictions each year for Easter.  The restrictions usually begin the Thursday prior to Good Friday, and run a few days past Easter Sunday.  The following regulations may be enforced:

*Alcohol consumption may be restricted  (most resorts obtain a special permit which enables them to serve alcohol to nonnative persons during the ban)
*Music may be limited or silenced

These guidelines are currently vague because actual enforcement by the local government does vary greatly from one year to the next.  Each year the actual policies are not published by the local authorities until just prior to Easter.  These rules are designed for the safety of everyone, as beaches get extremely busy during this period.
