  Good Experience & Nice Resort

  Nice resort, enjoyed the club Indigo roof top pool & restaurant. Main pool area is great if you have kids, there were lots of kids & floaties. Food was enjoyable but average resort food.

  Lovely place

  We just returned from 11 days at Dreams Sapphire and had a brilliant time. Overall it was brilliant and we had a lovely relaxing break and would definitely recommend it. Here’s a brief list of pros and cons. Pros Good variety of restaurants. The à la carte options are great and the buffet even has some fresh cooked options if you don’t mind waiting a few minutes. Quality of food generally very good Good selection of drinks (not just cheap local versions) Staff are super friendly and helpful Great location on a lovely beach Good sized resort, big enough to have what you need, but small enough to get around easily. The main pool and preferred pool are lovely, but see cons Cons Air Con in most restaurants is way too cold. It can be 26 C outside and lovely, but they set the AC to arctic blast so you sit shivering even in long sleeves and they don’t turn it down when you ask. It can be hard to get a place by the pool if you’re not up super early. The preferred pool opens at 9am and we generally got a good space for the 2 of us, but it got harder as time went on and the last couple of days we couldn’t get a bed at all, even when I arrived at 8.45. The main pool all gets reserved up even earlier. There are signs at both pools saying beds unattended for 45 mins will be cleared, but this is never enforced (60 mins would be better anyway so you can go for lunch). Also, we learnt that it seems to be the culture with the American guests that when they leave the pool (for good) they leave their towels in place, so you don’t know that these beds are actually free and could be used by someone else later. The hotel should improve the situation about sun bed reservations generally. The main bar uses plastic glasses all the time. This makes sense while the pool is open as it’s adjoining, but after the pool closes they should revert to real glasses. The plastic glasses throughout are old and need renewing. It can be noisy at night, if you’re a light sleeper avoid the blocks closest to the main area. The cons list us long, but only to offer constructive feedback. None of these things spoiled our holiday and we loved this place. Would recommend it.

  Great experience, especially the people/food/relaxation!

  We traveled with parents and our 22-yr old, so we didn't participate in many activities in the main pool area. That area was certainly festive all the time, but we preferred the more private pool/bar off the main quad. Food: Top notch! We loved every dinner, and the buffet was also fabulous, with great variety and plenty of local fare. Staff: Outstanding! Super friendly, always helpful, and if you can banter a bit in Spanish, it makes it even more fun for them and for you. Facilities: You can tell it's not the newest of resorts, but everything is in great order, they're constantly improving the grounds, and clearly take pride in ownership. We really didn't have any major complaints. (Keep in mind, people find little things to gripe about, but if you have the ability to overlook an occasional little thing for the big picture of how beautiful everything was, you'll love it all.) Beach: First of all, the sand is lovely! White, not hot, very fine sand. The water was nice and temperate for January, but it's not a crystal-clear water where you can see your toes and little creatures running around the floor of the ocean. There was some washed up seaweed as well. If beach is your #1 draw, there may be better options. But we had many great walks up and down--there's plenty of room to walk, play, build, and lounge on the beach! Overall we'll give it a 5, as we had a wonderful time. For us, the keys were the people (staff), food, and relaxation, and all of those boxes were checked! :) And the coatis and grackles were super cute!

  Mar and Tony : Amazing Entertainment Team

  This will be my first of two reviews for this resort. I wanted to focus on the entertainment staff, and expressed my gratitude for their attention, information, and efforts to make my family stay enjoyable. We were approached by “Mar” on our first night at the resort. Her energy and smile are infectious. She answered many of our questions and helped organize our entertainment planning. We attended several resort activities that were hosted by “Tony.” He was patient with my daughter and mother during a bracelet making activity. We also joined him for a Guacamole Making event ..and he was funny, engaging and we learned some useful pointers for when we return home and make guacamole. I am grateful for our experience with the entertainment team. They were one of the only redeeming aspects or the resort. They get 5 stars. The resort earns 1 star…detailed review to come separately.

  Nightmare Hotel

  I’m really quite shocked with all these 5 star reviews !! This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at ! The hotel is seriously in need of a total refurb on entering our room which was a junior garden suite it smelt very musty and damp it was dark and dingy and the furniture looked ancient and the bed was lumpy and awful The pool area had plastic sunbeds which were so uncomfortable if you were lucky you could have a dirty brown mattresses to put on it which seriously needed replacing I’m surprised we didn’t catch something off it !! The restaurants that you couldn’t book always had a two hour wait and the buffet was awful with food that looked like it had sat there all day and always cold we went into Puerto Morelos a lot just to get a decent meal ! I wouldn’t bother with the preferred club just a total waste of money The preferred lounge was the worst room I’ve ever encountered it was like a cold dungeon the aircon was ridiculous I did ask if it could be turned down slightly but it was met with a no ! I will never again stay in a Dreams resort it’s just not worth the money disappointed to say the least !!
