We just returned from a week at this hotel. In almost every way, our expectations and needs were well met. * Staff: excellent as are all the staff at every similar quality resort we've stayed at in the DR. The staff work SO very hard to meet and anticipate guests' needs, and don't always get the recognition they deserve (or, one imagines, the pay). The maid services are great -- the room was spotless and well stocked. The staff at the buffet restaurant were cordial and especially helpful to a friend we traveled with who is gluten-intolerant. I did not gather many names on this trip, but would like to mention our butler, Josué Martinez, who strove to anticipate our every desire. Our friends had the same butler, and had a few issues with their room, which he resolved very quickly. * Food and restaurants: We ate only in the buffet, where there is a huge variety of foods and cuisines. The restaurants may attract guests who live in less cosmopolitan areas, but we were not tempted. Our friends went one night, and couldn't even get in to a restaurant they were told they didn't need a reservation for. The went the next night, and found the service awful. * Beach: an ample number of chairs, and easily available towels. The beach is very long, and great for walking. No sargassum in January. However, it seems that the beach must have lost width in recent storms. It's quite narrow, and the palm trees being very short (i.e., young) also hints at recent storm recovery. Compared to other Dreams properties, this one is smaller and feels more crowded. Staying in the Preferred Club section facing away from the busier section was a good idea. As for noise: The adult preferred pool hot tub was jam packed with people who were rowdy, loud, and very, very drunk.

The atmosphere is just what we were looking for. Beautiful location/beach resort was well laid out and the staff was amazing. There is many available options for the whole family.

Exceptional Stay at Dreams Onyx – Outstanding Service & Dining!
This was our first time visiting the Dominican Republic, and it was truly a memorable experience. We would definitely recommend Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa for both couples and families. For those looking for an all-adult vibe, we also highly recommend their sister property, Breathless, which is right next door. What truly made this stay special was the enthusiastic and friendly staff; their excellent customer service made us feel welcomed throughout our entire trip. A huge shoutout to our outstanding butler, Rafael, who seemed to be working around the clock to meet our every need and provide great recommendations. We also want to thank the pool waitstaff—Nelis, Jose, and Angel—who were incredibly hardworking and attentive. Having stayed at many all-inclusive resorts within the UVC family, we found the food and beverage here to be very good and significantly better than other UVC properties we’ve experienced. While the main buffet at Dreams Onyx was just 'okay' with some overcooked items, the specialty restaurants like Blue Water Grill and Spice were great. We also loved that we could dine at Breathless, where every meal exceeded our expectations. The resort was exceptionally clean and offered a ton of activities. The entertainment staff is top-notch, and the nightly shows were very high quality. We had a fantastic stay and would definitely return to these resorts!"

WILL GO BACK! Love Dreams Onyx
Location was gorgeous! Service and hospitality was exceptional. Huge shoutout to Rafael, our personal Butler at Dreams Onyx. It was late night, my 4 yr old son wanted chocolate milk but didn’t want to leave the room, our guy Rafael hooked us up and had it delivered pronto! Our family had also booked a Cabana beside the beach and Inoel was our server. He was always coming around to make sure we had all the drinks, food and towels we needed to make the best experience of our day between the pools and beach. We had a large group and these two, among many other amazing workers at the resort did amazing in ensuring our stay was exceptional. Denys was the sweetest Maid and she’d come to the room every afternoon while we explored the scenery and activities at the resort, and she’d clean the room thoroughly. It was like walking into another slice of paradise every time. I had a 4 yr old toddler with me on this trip and he enjoyed the resort very much (10/10 kid friendly). Plenty of activities and events for the kids to partake in. Kids Club had an awesome pool area, a ball pit, trampolines, slides. Food, drinks, I didn’t have enough time in a week to experience everything the resort has to offer.

Amazing family vacation
Our private butler Rafael made this vacation one to remember. Traveling with 2 kids under 3 years old is never easy but Rafael certainly made it smooth as can be. He booked us dinners every night. We had a group of over 18 and never had an issue getting seats to accommodate all of us. He checked in frequently to make sure we were happy and that we definitely were. He got us a private cabana for the week and our server Inoel was so attentive and friendly. Made us feel like we were family. Rafael and Inoel made this trip something we will never forget. We will be back!
