Great Resort
We have just returned after a two week holiday as a family of 3. We frequently holiday in Mexico but have recently started to visit the DR as we love the beaches and the general ease of getting around that the Dominican offers. Having stayed in our fair share of Dreams and Secrets brands, we were overall very impressed with Royal Beach. We stayed in the new section of the resort as it offered the swim out room, and being the quieter modern side of the resort, it suited us perfectly. Upon check-in, we were introduced to our personal concierge Emmanuel, who went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was perfect. Pros: Quite close to the airport. Moden rooms. Hotel grounds on both sides are beautiful and extremely well kept. Food quality we found to be above average for all inclusive. Pool and pool bar areas very relaxing and clean. We would say that 99% of staff are very friendly and genuinely happy to be there. Beach beautiful, and despite the sargassum issues, we could see that dreams were doing more than others to try and clean up daily. Slight niggles: Although its the new way of doing things we would prefer a proper 'full' sized wardrobe and drawers for storage especially for 2 weeks. There is no door on the bathroom which would be handy when getting up in the night to go to the bathroom the bedroom would not be lit up! There is definitely a lack of power sockets in the room. Could be better: We did have a couple of days where it appeared that we were having no room clean or mini bar service. We had to chase our concierge but to be fair to him once he got involved the services were then seamless. Portofino resturant-We visited twice and sorry but we found the food quite poor in there. The staff are great in there but in our opinion the food lacks flavour. In general, the waiting times for the restaurants are far too excessive, we were told on one evening that there were 12 tables in front of us! This is not acceptable, especially when you have a young child that is close to falling asleep by the time you are seated! We tried to get out before 7pm to help which did sometimes work but it seemed to depend on the night as to how busy they were. None of the above issues affected our overall quality of stay though and compared to some other brands and resorts this one is much superior. We loved our vacation here and would revisit in the future.

Its ok. Our Concierge was fantastic.
This is our 15th-16th time in the DR. It is our favorite destination. The Good: The resort landscaping is absolutely beautiful. There is a pool surrounded by palms and bushes. Its stunning. The preferred club amenities are on par and the newer section is fantastic and quiet how we like it. They do not permit personal speakers at the pool. BEST DECISION EVER! The Bad: service is hit or miss. Friendliness is hit or miss. The Ugly: The food and dining arrangements are absolutely terrible compared to similar level resorts. You WILL wait 30-120minutes for a table for dinner. Theres no need for that. The negative reviews about the food by others is regretfully accurate. I always wait to see for myself, and yes, it was not good. The best part about our trip was our personal concierge, Yacaira. She was an absolute beast at her job and knew how to please her customers like the best Butlers we have had the pleasure of vacationing with. She literally took care of any need, desire, question, concern, etc. She is the best at that resort, and I highly recommend you specifically request her services.

Perfect Family Travels
Our family of 5 came to the dominican republic not really knowing what to expect. What we found was wonderful relaxation, excellent customer service, beautiful beaches and pools, and an all around fantastic vacation. We highly recommend the preferred club if you stay at Dreams Royal Beach, not because of the exclusive areas (which were nice) but for the personal concierge that meets you on arrival. From start to finish, our concierge took fantastic care of us, letting us know what was going on, answering any questions, and taking care of any needs that we had. We stayed for 5 nights and it was the perfect length for us. 3 days of beach and pools with one day of activities at the end of the week to spice things up. We went to the Marinarium through Amstar and had a fantastic time swimming with nurse sharks, Rays, and snorkeling over the reefs. Truly this was a memorable vacation and one we'd love to repeat in the future.
