  Exceptional staff and family fun, with room for improvement in dining

  Mixed experience — outstanding staff, but food and logistics need improvement We are very experienced all-inclusive travelers, and while we did have a good time overall, our stay was mixed. The staff were absolutely the highlight of this resort. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind, and their service is truly what made our trip enjoyable. We felt very well looked after throughout our stay. We stayed in an Indigo Privilege Class oceanfront swim-out room, which we appreciated for the location and access, though the swim-out pool was quite cold, as you only get the sun in the morning, limiting how much we used it. The food quality was inconsistent. Some meals were decent, but others were concerning enough that we chose not to eat them. One evening, salads took over 1.5 hours, forcing us to leave and go to the buffet because we were traveling with a diabetic guest who urgently needed a proper meal. This was stressful and avoidable. Breakfast service at the buffet was excellent thanks to Katrine, Ivan, and the morning staff, and we really enjoyed the Italian restaurant, which stood out positively. We also liked the rooftop restaurant for its quiet atmosphere, though the heavy use of cream cheese in nearly all sushi rolls was unusual and limited variety. The Japanese private table was visually nice, and we did purchase a bottle of wine, but the table was extremely high and the high-top chairs felt unstable and uncomfortable, which felt unsafe for small children. The Privilege Pool was fantastic, and special thanks to Cobos, Jose, and Brian for their exceptional service. The water slides were fun, though they could use a deeper interior cleaning. The water aerobics classes were super fun, and the kids absolutely loved the kids club, which was a great bonus for our group. One area that should be addressed is buffet hygiene, specifically the self-serve ice cream station. We observed guests handling scoops improperly, licking fingers, and children touching the ice cream and surrounding areas. Having this station staffed would greatly improve cleanliness and guest confidence. We also found the spa pricing extremely high compared to similar resorts, and the required sales pitch to receive discounts was not appealing. We traveled as a group of nine, including two children, celebrating a birthday and pre-Christmas holidays, and we did make many great memories. That said, the resort would benefit from better restaurant organization, a reservation or booking system, more early dinner options, and improved kitchen coordination, as we were often seated before other tables but served much later. In summary: exceptional staff and warm service, plenty of fun activities for adults and kids, but improvements to food quality, dining logistics, hygiene, seating safety, and spa pricing would significantly elevate the experience.

  Honest but lengthy review

  Went with our family which included 15m old, 6,8&10 yr old children as well as our 70 year old parents (one of which is mobility challenged). We stayed in a preferred suite ocean view. Room was clean and bed was comfortable but some of the finishings were a bit dated. Door to balcony was hard to open even after service came to fix it, tub on balcony was stained and the faucets leaked while filling the tub but the water was very warm. Had to use this tub as the room did not come with one and we needed a place to bathe our baby. Preferred club allowed us to eat breakfast at the bluewater grill every morning and we definitely preferred the quality of food there over the buffet. Buffet had a great selection but just can’t beat fresh made to order food. Ask for Eduardo as your server and you won’t be disappointed! Our baby fell in love with him and loved to start his day laughing with Eduardo. A la carte restaurants had good food but very slow service, even when dining with just my husband and baby. Prepare to spend at minimum 60 minutes per meal, if not closer to 90 minutes. Main pool and waterslide pool are veyy deep for children. At least 4ft deep with no shallow spots besides the steps to enter. Not great for people with low mobility as it can be a little difficult to see where the next stair starts in the pool. Pools are not heated either. Hot tub is more like lukewarm bath temperature but was nice temp for our baby on cloudy cooler days. Gift shop is very expensive for essentials that you have forgotten. Think 50USD for a pair of sunglasses you could find at dollarama. Had a good selection of travel memorabilia at decent prices. They also had a vendors market come on several nights where we were able to purchase one of our souvenirs. Beach had soft white sand. The resort was out multiple times per day to clear up any seaweed that washed ashore as well. Concierge was very helpful when I experienced a medical issue that required getting medication from a pharmacy off site. Delivery of meds was less than an hour. There are no elevators in the resort so if you are unable to do at least one flight of stairs or walk fairly long distances I wouldn’t recommend booking here. There are ground floor rooms so be sure to ask for ground floor not first floor if requesting a specific room. First floor in Mexico is the equivalent to second floor in Canada. Overall, I would recommend this resort. I won’t go back but that is only because I like to try a new place each visit. Preferred club is definitely better for those travelling with kids over 16 as they have access to another pool and bar but for kids under 16 I’m not sure the upgrade cost would be worth it for some. Getting to have an ocean front room and the extra breakfast option was definitely a perk for us tho. We stayed in building 1. Location is great if you don’t want to have afternoon naps or go to bed before 10 as you can hear all of the music clear as day from the pool and from the Rendezvous bar area. Hope this helps anyone who’s on the fence about deciding to go here!

  The best family trip

  Sapphire Spa & Resort. We were a family of 12 and absolutely loved our trip — it was the perfect place for a family vacation. The food was great overall, with lots of variety and excellent quality. A special highlight for us was the French restaurant, which was absolutely amazing. The service from Eleuterio was outstanding: attentive, friendly, and truly professional. The food was delicious, and even my picky eater loved her steak, which says a lot! The entertainment was also fantastic. The morning activities were fun and energetic, and the water entertainment was a big hit — especially Ebrahim dancing in the water, which brought so much joy and excitement to the atmosphere. Overall, the resort delivered on every level — food, service, and entertainment. We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily return and recommend Dreams Sapphire to others.

  Eleuterio the best waiter!

  Eleuterio was amazing he beought out the food early for the kids, he was very kind and funny and he made the vibes so much more funhe was an amazing waiter
